Possibilities of teaching/learning general relativity at elementary level
Ryston, Matěj ; Dvořák, Leoš (advisor) ; Žák, Vojtěch (referee)
This thesis deals with an elementary introduction to general relativity on a level understandable by secondary school students and graduates. It contains a review of available literature including its approach to the introductory level of relativity, a study text covering the necessary parts of classical mechanics, special relativity and subsequently basic ideas and conclusions of general relativity. A didactical analysis of the study text is also part of the thesis. The text presumes only basic knowledge of secondary school physics (mostly mechanics), therefore it is suitable for a wide range of readers amongst secondary school students and graduates. It can also be useful as a study material for secondary school teachers, who wish to enrich their teaching with more modern chapters of physics.

Kolář, Karel ; Žák, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Kopecká, Václava (referee)
Correspondence physics competition of MFF UK - FYKOS - is extracurricular physical educational activity organized by university students for upper secondary school students. FYKOS is organized by Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University in Prague (MFF UK). FYKOS' main goals are: dissemination of physics, education of upper secondary school students, establishing conditions for creation of social bindings between participants (and organizers) and propagation of possibility of studies at MFF UK. This work is the first complete text about running of FYKOS and it is also the first systematical feedback from FYKOS' participants and FYKOS' organizers. The first part is a description of all FYKOS' activities (correspondence part, camps, FYKOSí Fyziklání and others). The second chapter includes an analysis of statistical survey of FYKOS' participants. Other chapters are dedicated to the description of gathering feedback and its interpretation. The feedback was made in several ways - interviews, web questionnaire and email questionnaire. Special attention was turned to study and professional development of former participants. Acquired knowledge lead up to formulation of possible improvements of FYKOS which are introduced in the last part of this theses. It was discovered that among respondents of...

Kolář, Petr ; Žák, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Koupilová, Zdeňka (referee)
Title: Electronic Textbook in Introduction of Mathematical Methods of Physics Abstract: The objective of this work is to create a studing text not only for the first grade students of physics teaching at FMP CU but also for other students of phy- sical and technical domains at universities which should help them with an intro- duction into mathematic necessary in physics. The main matter of this work is based on preparations and texts of dr. A Hladík, prof. J. Podolský and dr. V. Žák for lectures and exercises of subject Introduction of Mathematical Methods of Physics. The author's experience is also reflected of course, especially his fresh experience with the age group for which is this text created. Equally, a small re- cherche of an existence and an availability of other sources pursuing given matters have been done. Some of these sources are recommended in this work. The cre- ated text should help readers with elementary matter of systems of coordinates, limits and derivations with a special consideration to their applications in physics. A contribution of this work for students is going to be a subject of other resear- ching. An extension of this text with other elementary parts of mathematical methods of physics is presumed too.
Physics problems for development of various cognitive operations
Kürtiová, Alica ; Žák, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Kekule, Martina (referee)
This thesis deals with the role of physics problems which help to develop various cognitive operations. Mainly the taxonomy of the learning tasks by Tollingerová and the Bloom's taxonomy of educational objectives have been used for this purpose. A material which contains characteristics of eleven chosen cognitive operations (induction, deduction, transformation, proving, abstraction etc.) and two typical learning tasks to each cognitive operation has been elaborated in this thesis. The material was created to guide and simplify the selection and creation of physics problems whose solution supports the development of cognitive operations. This process can inter alia help to define, fill and check required educational goals. It may also help with student's motivation or the development of key competencies. Keywords: learning task, physics problem, cognitive operation, cognitive process, taxonomy by Tollingerová
Various Conceptions of Didactics of Physics in the Czech Republic and Abroad
Žák, Vojtěch ; Chvál, Martin (advisor) ; Kasíková, Hana (referee)
Title: Various Approaches to Didactics of Physics in the Czech Republic and Abroad Abstract: This diploma work deals with selected aspects of didactics of physics as a branch of science. Its aim is to start a more systematic reflection of a domestic didactics of physics in connection with the situation abroad as well as with previous developments in the Czech Republic. Important approaches to didactics of physics, (above all the applied, integrated and communicative approach) are described in this work and attention is also paid to international developments. This work also presents arguments about why didactics of physics could be perceived as a branch of science together with the mutual relationships of didactics of physics with other scientific fields. In the last chapter there is a discussion about new possibilities in the development of didactics of physics, especially about the tendency of mutual linking of didactics of physics with didactics of other school subjects. In this chapter there is also an outline of a new approach which focuses on goals. Keywords: didactics of physics, physics education research, approach to didactics of physics, subject didactics
Laboratory works in physics for upper secondary schools
Koutská, Barbora ; Žák, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Kekule, Martina (referee)
This Bachelor thesis is dealing with laboratory classes at secondary schools. Thesis offers ideas for five laboratory classes which were carried out during regular teaching at the secondary school. Besides other things there are work sheets here to be used with given classes and for the teachers there are metodical instructions which have arisen from implementation in classes and from subsequent reflection. Laboratory classes are thematically focused on the field of vibration and interference which run through different fields of physics. The aim of these classes is mainly to develop students' creativity in solving problems, their practical skills during preparation of experiments, also to develop critical attitude to the information and the discussion about mistakes and negligencies which emerged during measuring and working on the computer. As it turned out in research dedicated to motivation in learning physics, laboratory classes prepared in this way - i.e. experiments carried out by students themselves and using computers in processing data - are loved by students and because of that they have a great motivational capacity.
Basic Mathematical Methods in Physics - Solved Problems
Kürtiová, Alica ; Žák, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Houfková, Jitka (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on creating a set of physical tasks with a structured solution to the chapter Mathematical supplements in the Electronic Collection of Solved Problems in Physics. After studying the actual collections and textbooks used in high schools it was found that in most of them the mathematical apparatus which is necessary for studying physics at universities in the first semester is not mentioned. This was the primary cause of the creation of sixteen tasks using the basic mathematical methods in physics, especially the basics of differential and integral calculus. Commented solutions have been created in order to familiarize the solver with basic mathematical apparatus which is needed to study physics at university. They should bring promising results in individual studying and lead the student to be active at solving the problem.
