Implementation of listening techniques into a primary school classroom
Jeřábková, Anna ; Poche Kargerová, Jana (advisor) ; Vallin, Petra (referee)
This thesis deals with the matter of listening skill as part of the communication key competence. The author does not target situations when the pupil listens to the teacher's speech, but situations when the elementary school classmates listen to each other. It is based on a long-term scientific discourse on the subject. The aim of this thesis is to first theoretically present the communication activity of listening as a fairly demanding process which, although requiring the same amount of attention and training as other communication activities, has been quite neglected on a global scale in the school curriculum. At the same time, the theoretical section puts forward specific proposals on how the listening skill of the elementary-school class collective can be supported and developed. The practical part, pedagogical action research, is based on theoretical knowledge. It aims to observe progress in communication focusing on listening skills between third-grade pupils, in a class where the author acts as a teacher's assistant. In total three periods of action research maintain a cyclical pattern of problem decsription, action plan, action and analysis. The research is supported by didactic games designed so that the skill of listening can be studied and developed by the pupils themselves. At the...

Escape games in German language teaching
Hůla, Filip ; Botlík Nuc, Tomáš (advisor) ; Nečasová, Pavla (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the phenomenon of escape rooms and their use in education. Firstly, a theoretical basis was created in which the individual components of escape rooms were elaborated in detail. Understanding all the components, their functions and the whole concept provided the opportunity to explain the applicability of escape rooms in education, specifically to outline the possibilities and limits of escape rooms. These have been described from both a technical and a pedagogical perspective. Escape rooms have been put in the context of pedagogical theory, where they have found support both in the curriculum and in other pedagogical principles. The roles of both teacher and students in this regard were characterized. The use of Escape Rooms in education was concretised in terms of foreign language teaching, explaining the possibilities offered by escape games in German language teaching. In the practical part of the thesis, an original escape game for German language teaching, Treasure in Vienna, was created. As the name indicates, the escape game is set in Vienna, so the pupils work with cultural background, foreign language and at the same time develop key competences. The escape game was developed on the basis of the theoretical part, taking into account all the important...
Using of EduScrum Method in Biology Education at the Lower Secondary School
Čížek, Tomáš ; Vojíř, Karel (advisor) ; Nejedlý, Adam (referee)
This work was focused on the eduScrum teaching method and its use in the teaching of biology at the second level of elementary school, specifically in the seventh and eighth grade. The main goal was to characterize this method and find out what the students reported as its strengths and weaknesses, what they took away for themselves and what threats they perceived. Also, what suggestions did they have for improving the method. A secondary goal was to define the goals of science education in general and to define activation methods, among which the EduScrum method belongs. A modified SWOT analysis was chosen as a research tool. The students' statements were further processed qualitatively using the open coding method. The result of the research part showed that the students mentioned teamwork as the main strength of the EduScrum method. Non-cooperation was mentioned by the students as the weakest aspect. This paradox was explained on the basis of two theories of motivation - self- determination and mind-set. The greatest benefit for the pupils was the deepening of knowledge in the given topics. The students saw the greatest threat in non-cooperation and the related risks of missing work and receiving a bad grade. In order to improve the method, the students presented mostly irrelevant proposals that...
