The influence of activation activities to adaptation of seniors in institutional care
Novotná, Valentýna ; Nová, Monika (advisor) ; Bravená, Noemi (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the topic of adaptation of seniors to residential social services and, as part of a research investigation, examining the influence of activation activities on this process from the point of view of facility staff. Using the active method of the semi-structured process of successful care, the author concludes that active activities largely belong to the client's adaptation to the new institutional environment. The output of the work is then a methodological list designed for the needs of facility workers who implement adaptation groups.
Olfactory adaptations in the deep-sea fishes
Kamrla, Jaroslav ; Musilová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Stopková, Romana (referee)
The goal of this work was to summarize the present knowledge about olfaction in deep-sea fishes. The research on this topic is seldom, however, few interesting studies suggest the importance of olfaction in these inhospitable conditions. After a short introduction of how the olfaction works, individual description of deep-sea adaptations follows. Implications on the importance of a specific sense can be made based on comparisons between individual brain areas responsible for the input of each sense. The importance of individual senses was investigated in mesopelagic and demersal species. Ontogenetic shift in sensory importance is one of the adaptations. Furthermore, sexual dimorphism in the olfactory system. Enlarged olfactory organs in males are most likely responsible for easier localisation of a female. Regarding the olfactory receptor repertoire, a whole genome of a hadal fish from the Mariana trench marked a massive loss of olfactory genes but highlighted their specificity. My own data included in this thesis estimate the number of the olfactory genes in deep-sea fishes for which we lack the high-quality genome. The estimates (albeit with large confidence intervals) suggest rather smaller numbers of genes in most of the species, while there are some species with putatively expanded gene...
Adaptation of 2-year-old children in children's group
Hýblerová, Karolína ; Sotáková, Hana (advisor) ; Presslerová, Pavla (referee)
In my master thesis, I deal with the specific development of two-year-old children. Specifically, physical, cognitive, social and emotional development. The second to third chapters focus on the history of the inclusion of two-year-olds in preschool, experts' opinions on whether it is appropriate for children to enter preschool at the age of two, and what options exist in the country for the inclusion of two-year-olds. The fourth chapter looks at the options available to parents in the Czech Republic when they want to place their two-year-old child in pre-school. The last - fifth chapter deals with adaptation as such. The practical part of the master thesis begins by setting the objectives, which are to analyse the adaptation plan of a particular children's group, to find out how the adaptation period is going for the 11 children from the particular children's group who were involved in the research. Last but not least, the research aims to figure out what could make the adaptation to the children's group easier for two-year- old children and their parents. In order to accomplish my goals, I drew on children's group attendance records, questionnaires from the children's parents, and most importantly, my participant observation. I also address general quality standards as well as the quality...
Between adaptation and homage: Blade Runner as a filmic rendition of Philip K. Dick's novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
Shahinyan, Sona ; Ženíšek, Jakub (advisor) ; Higgins, Bernadette (referee)
This thesis will be concerned with comparing and contrasting the cyberpunk novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? written by Philip K. Dick in 1968 with Ridley Scott's film called Blade Runner. However, most attention will be directed toward the film's original release and final re-release in 2007. The received opinion and editorial claims tend to come into clash when referencing the movie as either an adaptation or an inspiration, and this disagreement was turned into our research question: Did Ridley Scott and his screenwriting team create a periphrastic adaptation of the novel, or can it be more accurately regarded as an inspiration or a variation on a theme? The first part of the thesis will define the parameters by which the research will be evaluated at the end. The second part of this thesis will encapsulate plotlines, themes and events, motifs, and symbols, and it will also dissect each essential character and their portrayal in each medium. Finally, the additional scenes from re-releases of the original film will be analyzed in regard to their relevance to the plot of the novel. The most recent adaptation, Blade Runner 2049, will also be mentioned in regard to its side character, Rick Deckard, and the parallels found in his successor, K. Keywords: Adaptation, Blade Runner, bounty...

Adaptivní systém pro řízení osvětlení ve Smart Home
Valík, Tomáš ; Rozman, Jaroslav (referee) ; Janoušek, Vladimír (advisor)
The thesis deals with the issue of lighting control in smart homes. In most smart homes, it is necessary to manually control the lighting using switches or mobile devices. The thesis introduces an adaptive control system based on recurrent neural networks, which gradually learns user manipulation with the lighting and eventually begins to independently control the lighting after a certain period of time.
Methods used by pedagogues in the kindergarten for facilitating children's adaptation process.
Ježková, Jitka ; Hanyš Holemá, Irena (advisor) ; Koťátková, Soňa (referee)
The paper examines the topic of the adaptation process of children starting at kindergarten. It generally focuses on methods and procedures used in adaptation processes that aim to facilitate children's adaptation. Theoretical findings relate to the adaptation process of preschool children. Qualitative research is then carried out. The theoretical part describes the developmental specifics of the preschool period. These are essential for understanding the behavior, experiences, and needs of preschool children. The role of the kindergarten institution and its influence on the child is mentioned, as well as the principle of adaptation itself. Adaptation is a significant change and stress, and for its successful progression (and the child's further life), the correct setting of the individual adaptation process is crucial. In this perspective, a large part is devoted not only to the role and experiences of a child but also to the influence of parents or lecturers in kindergarten. Qualitative research in the form of semi-structured interviews with respondents (kindergarten lecturers) has been carried out in this paper. The main goal of the research is primarily to reveal the methods and procedures that kindergarten lecturers use to improve the course of the children's adaptation process. The emphasis...
Anglicism in the Discourse of Lifestyle Influencers
Pospíšilová, Alžběta ; Sojka, Pavel (advisor) ; Vlčková, Jana (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on anglicisms in the discourse of Czech lifestyle influencers. It is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part describes how English language and culture has affected Czech language. It also unveils the phonological, grammatical and word-forming adaptation principles. Finally, it defines the community of online content creators and the lifestyle category. The practical part analyses the collected anglicisms. The main focus is on the used adaptation principles. All of the lexical material has been extracted from recent (i.e. 2023, 2024) YouTube and TikTok posts. A dictionary with every collected anglicism is also included in this thesis.
The teacher's care for the classroom climate in a small school.
Slívová, Lucie ; Hejlová, Helena (advisor) ; Nekardová, Barbora (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to verify how the choice of methods, procedures and organizational forms of teaching can improve the classroom climate in a small classroom setting, using the example of a combined 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classroom. The first chapter of this thesis deals with small class schools. The history of small class schools, their specifics and the reasons why they are still maintained as an important alternative to larger schools are examined. The next section looks at individualization and differentiation in teaching and their implementation in the small class school setting. The second section focuses on classroom climate. It examines what factors influence classroom climate and how it can be measured and evaluated. Next, the chapter examines the adaptation of the new student in the classroom, a key process for successful integration into the new environment. The third chapter analyses the role of the teacher in a small classroom school. It describes what competences a teacher of a small class school should have and how he/she should approach teaching. Furthermore, teaching methods and organisational forms of teaching suitable for a small classroom environment are defined. The conclusion of the theoretical part focuses on assessment in teaching, which also has an impact on the...
