Contemporary radio reportage in the broadcasting of Czech Radio Radiožurnál

The objective of this bachelor's thesis is to define the contemporary radio reportage in the broadcasting of Czech Radio Radiožurnál, the most popular public radio station in the Czech Republic. In the theoretical part the author defines this syntetic genre and terms its symptomatic attributes. The author based his research on the genesis of the radio reportage documented in the academic literature and also he used variety of theories by renowned media experts. Collected data has created a complex chart to classify radio reportage and its derivatives. Concurrently it provides a complete outline of syntetic elements of reportage used in most radio genres. The research of this bachelor thesis focuses on series of interviews with selected respondents from the leadership of Czech Radio and also several case studies by professional radio reporters. The analysis of the material together with the statements of journalists in contrast with the theoretical part of this thesis delivers a comprehensive explanation of the contemporary radio reportage. Nikos Kazantzakis, Karel Čapek and their travel writings on England (England & Letters from England)

Kazantzakis' Ταξιδεύοντας. Αγγλία (England: A Travel Journal) belongs to the most significant pieces of travel writing both in Greece and abroad. Referring to Czech literature it is the travel journal of Karel Capek Anglické listy (Letters from England) that suggests itself for comparison as a literary piece of a similar relevance. The present thesis aims to compare particularly the way both authors - journalists - perceive the country and how they convey their experience, what they have in common and what the main differences are. This was accomplished by exploring the main topics referred to. Mixing genres is typical for both examined books. Capek writes in a form of playful feuilleton, Kazantzakis uses a serious reflection essay blending fact with fiction. Kazantzakis focuses on history of the nation and politics, Capek avoids these topics.
News Comics as the new form of online reporting on ČT24 website

This bachelor's thesis concerns News Comics, which online journalists from Czech Television have published on the ČT24 website since 20th May 2019. This format connects comics and television news and its main purpose is to attract a young audience to the content that Czech Television produces. The concept of News Comics consists of journalists choosing television news reports from broadcasted news programs and transforming them into multi-paged comics. This bachelor's thesis practically covers the process of producing News Comics, which has accelerated considerably because of using mobile application. Furthermore, I mention all of the staff members who are involved in the process of production and I describe what topics News Comics cover. The main purpose of this thesis is to confirm whether or not the targeted young audience is truly reading News Comics. Additionally, I ask if the artists behind the comics are meeting the central values of the news alongside their artistic freedom. This thesis explores the different aspects of the two genres. Another part of the bachelor's thesis includes a brief history of comics and the transformation of Czech Television news content towards digital media with the growing presence of technology.
Reporting Ice-Hockey: Women's and Men's Perspective

The thesis called Reporting Ice-hockey: Women's and Men's Perspective focuses on possible differences in works of female and male sports journalists. In the theoretical part, the issue of gender in sports journalism, basic stereotypes associated with the work of female sports journalists and the characteristics of the female writing style are introduced. In the practical part, reports of specific Czech journalists about ice-hockey are analysed. The analysis includes audio-visual reports from Branky, body, vteřiny; Hokej den poté, and written reports from Mladá fronta Dnes and online news server iDNES.cz. The emphasis is put on, for example, the frequency of statistical data, the description of the atmosphere and emotions, the originality of expressions or the use of sports journalism jargon and clichés. The aim of the qualitative content analysis is to prove whether and how the reports of selected female and male sports journalists differ.

Ota Pavel is known for his belles-lettres, particularly short tales with autobiographical motives. This bachelor thesis aims to point out Pavel's journalistic activity in periodicals, that preceded his literary career. The theoretical segment aims to provide Pavel's contextual portrait in terms of his journalistic activity and mental illness. Practical part contains analysis of Pavel's articles published in the periodicals Stadion and Ceskoslovensky vojak during the limited period. Havel's legacy at Ostrovní 13 (literary reportage)

This thesis presents the Václav Havel Library and the legacy of the person whose name it holds in the form of the literary reportage. In the theoretical part it defines the literary reportage genre. Firstly it describes the historical development of the reportage, focusing on the Czech and Polish journalistic and literary enviroment. Then, in contrast with the Czech tradition, it defines the specific genre that is the Polish literary reportage, focusing in more detail on the types of narrators and the language it uses. In the practical part the theoretical knowledge is being implemented in the form of an original literary reportage, which presents the environment and the functioning of the Václav Havel Library. It presents an unique institution that was modeled on the American presidential libraries for the purpose of archiving and publishing the works of Václav Havel and related materials, as well as organising cultural events that carry his spirit. The literary reportage Havel's legacy at Ostrovní 13 gives an interpretation of what the legacy represents, meaning in what areas we can still feel the influence of Václav Havel and what makes him an inspiration to many.
