Mindfulness-based interventions in clinical practice
Chýle, Jaroslav ; Kulišťák, Petr (advisor) ; Šípek, Jiří (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with mindfulness-based programs, which are now used in medicine. The theoretical part focuses on their, description, published clinical outcomes, research, mechanisms of action, advantages, pitfalls and their use in clinical practice. The empirical builds on the theoretical part and proposes a research project in the form of a double-blinded randomized controlled study of the influence of MBSR on variables of mental and physical health, with the application of an active control group. Discussion includes reflections on the direction of future research and presents information on current trends, opportunities and challenges facing these interventions. Tichá, Eva ; Kloudová, Věra (advisor) ; Špirk, Jaroslav (referee)
This bachelor thesis has two basic parts. The first part sets to produce a function translation. The basic literature which is the most important for this thesis is the Art of Translation by Jiří Levý. The reason is the fact that my translation method is based on this book. The second part of this bachelor thesis is the commentary to this translation. It is well known that the bachelor thesis is not able to mention all problems which we can meet in a translation. But I would like to describe the problems which are the most important aspects for our understanding of the translation process and my translation method. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Google searches and financial markets: IPOs and uncertainty
Vakrman, Tomáš ; Krištoufek, Ladislav (advisor) ; Novák, Jiří (referee)
This thesis studies how the investor attention proxied by Google search volume affects different aspects of market behavior. My results show that a surge in online attention is associated with an increase in trading activity and stock price volatility, but no effect is detected for daily returns. Yet, if market sentiment is taken into account, the relationship comes to the surface for returns as well. The returns tend to decrease with attention hikes in negative sentiment periods and the opposite is observed for periods of positive sentiment, suggesting that Google web search captures predominately attention of sentiment investors. Moreover, I demonstrate that with the outburst of financial crisis, the interdependence between attention and trading activity was intensified. Lastly, I provide evidence that web search may shed some light on IPO-related puzzles. The initial returns seem to be higher for IPOs that receive above average attention, and are likely to be reversed in long-term. In addition, it is ascertained that web search volume may act as a proxy for market overreaction to the offerings. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Bibliographic identification METLICKÁ, Martina. Testing dyspraxia of children and adolescents dancing acrobatic rock'n'roll and of children and adolescents with specific abnormalities. Prague: Charles University, 2nd Faculty of Medicine, Department of rehabilitation and sports medicine, 2015. 91p. Supervisor MUDr. Josef Kraus, CSc. The possibility of using dance therapy is also mentioned. The practical part is focused on evaluating the level of motor skills of children with specific abnormalities and children's rock and roll dancers using the Movement Assessment Battery for Children 2. Another objective is to determine whether the level of motor skills correlates with the level of attention tested by the Test of attention d2. The final goal is to assess the degree of physical activity of rock and roll dancers using the accelerometer ActiGraph GT3X. We confirm the presence of motor difficulties of children with specific abnormalities, however we did not confirm...
Cognitive deficit in schizophrenia and animal models of the disease
Svojanovská, Barbora ; Stuchlík, Aleš (advisor) ; Vrajová, Monika (referee)
Cognitive deficit is a characteristic symptom of schizophrenia, which occurs in most of the cases. We can use animal models for better understanding of schizophrenia and to find possible treatment. As subjects of animal models are often used rats and mice, which can be administered various drugs (used to treat schizophrenia), or newly synthesized substances. The final effect is observed in different conditions. By blocking NMDA (N-methyl-D- aspartate), dopamine and serotonin receptors, we can model cognitive deficit. Thanks to the lesion in a particular area of the brain, specific parts involved in the deficit can be detected. The cognitive functions are often associated with hippocampus and prefrontal cortex. This thesis describes a theories of development of schizophrenia and relevant animal models. It also shows that research of cognitive deficits using animal models facilitates the development of appropriate drugs without adverse side effects. Key words: schizophrenia, animal models, cognitive deficit, memory, attention, spatial navigation
