Original and Assumed Sources on World Wide Web
Svatý, Michal ; Brejcha, Jan (advisor) ; Švantner, Martin (referee)
The thesis focuses on problem of authorship of the Internet content. It considers the question whether we can analyze the artwork purely as a closed structure of the symbols or whether it is necessary to take work as a broader structure. The first part of the thesis shows the Internet in general and its specifics it as a medium. The second part is devoted to the problem of authorship. It explains traditional view of Nelson Goodman, who examined the authenticity of artwork with regard to the internal arrangement of the elements structure of the object. The third part shows the later theories inconsistent with the views of Nelson Goodman, views of different contemporary authors who present the changes of authorship aspects in the environment which is under constant development, quickly sharing ideas and resources. New theories suggest to look beyond the authorship of the artwork domain, apply broader focous. The conclusion provides a synthesis of these views.
Typography of the monthly maganize žena a móda (1949-1995)
Maňasová, Martina ; Slanec, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Láb, Filip (referee)
The thesis "Typography of the monthly magazine Žena a móda (1949-1995)" deals with the graphical appearance of this magazine and describes the changes in its typography. Magazine ran from January 1949 to July 1995, when it was cancelled because of financial difficulties. The aim of this thesis is to divide the years of Žena a móda's existence into periods, depending on its specific graphical appearance. This bachelor thesis outlines the historical context, technical conditions and the influence the Marxism-Leninism had on the graphic design. Moreover, the basic vocabulary of typographical terms is included. The thesis analyses the graphical appearance of the magazine periodically, with the focus on physical qualities, typesetting, typeface, headlines, front pages or advertisement. Furthermore, the graphical appearance of the world's most famous magazines is outlined briefly towards the end of the thesis, as well as the magazine's competition after 1989. The pictures are added to some of the chapters. Keywords Typography, graphic design, fashion, magazine, design, typesetting, typeface, front page, paragraph, headline, illustration, photography
Cross-curricular relations between Czech language and art
Hamáčková, Martina ; Pišlová, Simona (advisor) ; Cikánová, Karla (referee)
Intersubjects relations are now more emphasized.I believe that the links between subjects are increasingly applied in lessons at school, supported by Framework Educational Programme, consequently school educational programs. The aim of this work is a summary of common features of the Czech language and art and their application in practice. These two systems are intertwined and connect since ancient time, that is why my goal was to show more specifically how to fill the relationship of these two subjects in the lessons. So I was looking for connections between different subject areas and topics. In the theoretical part of my work,I defined the concept of interdisciplinary relations, and then I described the position of these two subjects in the past and present as well as the areas where students can meet with this relation in their everyday life.In the practical part of my work I was looking for possibilities how to link these two subjects adequately for children.I prepared the structure of lessons in such way, which provides benefits for both subjects.Students worked with literature and communication technologies in a group, alone or with their parents. At the art lessons I was looking for such a topics, which would support the teaching of Czech language.I focused on the preparation of the educational program that...
Alphabets, contents and the time. Visual communication
Tojnarová, Lenka ; Špirk, Ivan (advisor) ; Raudenský, Martin (referee)
The theme of the diploma dissertation became a view of a field of alphabets (letters and types) in contexts of communication, history, art and education. The theoretical part is focused on historical, contemporary movements of the phenomenon all at once. Inclusive of reflecting on alphabets in art and also links to a medial communication. The second part of the diploma dissertation reacts to the strongest and the most inspiring moments. It focuses on a practical applications for art lessons. The third part [artistic] takes advantage of media knowledges and art lessons. They are interfaced into an interactive teaching material which challenges students to an active perception of visual culture.
Corporate identity
Teoretická část popisuje téma jednotného vizuálního stylu z hlediska historického vývoje, jeho uplatnění a postavení, především u nás v České Republice. Didaktická část navazuje výtvarnými řadami určenými pro žáky 2. stupně ZŠ. Praktická část je popisem mé výtvarné práce vycházející z tématu jednotného vizuálního stylu. Přínosem i cílem této diplomové práce, bylo objasnit problematiku jednotného vizuálního stylu jako součást komplexní komunikace značky a podnítit u dětí zájem o téma grafického designu za využití různých výtvarných technik.
Vector Font Rasterization on LCD
Hrušovský, Marek ; Přibyl, Jaroslav (referee) ; Granát, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with sub-pixel vector font representation. It generaly describes representation and rasterization of vector font and shortly compares advantages of vector font against bitmaped font. Including information about sub-pixel font representation on screen type LCD, possibilities and problems that this type of projection produces. It contains implementation description of demonstrational application, which rasterizes font with sub-pixel technology.

Live typeface
Jiříček, Milan ; Špiřík, Jan (referee) ; Rajmic, Pavel (advisor)
The work describes the theoretical foundations of modern methods of creating new fonts, that is, using information technology, specifically vector programs. It also marginally shows the history of the font, Roman writing, the basic division of its compositions and describes its individual elements. The next part of the project focuses on creating digital fonts and continues with bringing it to live using algorithms and methods that can easily be processed in Matlab programming language. The method of implementation of the bringing the typeface to live is described and presentation of the generated results are then shown in few examples. Attention is also paid to the coordinates system, which is very important to solve geometric transformations, and two-dimensional vector graphics, which are widely used in the design and to render the fonts. Bézier curves and cubic Bézier curves are described in further detail along with vector graphics rasterization. One part of this text describes very important de Casteljau algorithm. The last chapter focuses on implementation in Matlab programming language, the creation of curves, that means single font characters, and the ways of how the algorithm works with transformations. Some sample images showing transformations using different input arguments are displayed in this section as well. There is evaluation of the contribution of this application and the possibilities of further expansion at the end.
The development of graphic expression by primary school children
VILINGEROVÁ, Isabela
Present work deals with the graphomotoric development of children in grammar school age. The theoretical part characterizes this developmental period in terms of developmental psychology. Especially, describing the cognitive essential components for graphic expressions, namely thinking, intelligence, perception, attention, memory, imagination, language skills and creativity. Moreover there is the outline of ontogenetic development of writing and drawing in the ontogenetic phase. The practical part describes the scientific activity in which they are compared to short texts and figure drawings from pupils in the 1st and 5th grade of grammar school. There has been created criteria dealing with the evaluation of fonts and artwork. The basic of these criteria could be observed in changes occurring from 1st to 5th grammar school grade. Graphic expression of individual pupils is analyzed verbally.
Biblical motives in the work of František Hrubín
HANDŠUHOVÁ, Lenka
The thesis attempts to analyse the František Hrubín's poetry in which the parallels with The Scripture or biblical themes could be found. The thesis sorts discovered themes to those that can and to those that cannot be analyzed with the Scripture. The important findings is whether the discovered themes can be essentially marked as biblical or if they are used also with the other meaning by the author. Partical objective is the finding of identical themes in the other authors pieces and comparing them with the themes of František Hrubín. The thesis looks for the connections between the subjects, themes or with the author's writing itself or his contemporaries.
