Legal Forms of persecution of citizens in the Protectorate 1939-1945 in comparison with the occupied Netherlands In 1939, Czechoslovakia was destroyed by Nazi Germany without a single shot. Less than a year later, the Netherlands was conquered by the German army in the course of Blitzkrieg in the West. Both countries remained under occupation for almost six years, while their citizens faced an unprecedented persecution. Since these countries share a lot of commonalities, concerning size of their territory, wartime development and the form of occupation, they proved to be an ideal example to provide the comparison of the Nazi occupation regime in Western and Eastern Europe. Bohemia and Moravia joined the Reich as a protectorate, an institute of international public law that was very rare in the European context. Kingdom of Netherlands was transformed into so-called Reichskommisariat, a provisional arrangement that was supposed mainly to maintain public order in order to secure the industrial production. Transfer of transalpine landscape motifs in graphic art into selected works of Italian engravers of the early 16th century

The aim of this thesis is to illustrate the phenomenon of the transfer of the transalpine landscape motifs in graphic art into the works of Italian engravers at the beginning of the six- teenth century, and by using detailed analysis of these prints lead to a decision as to why these transfers occur so frequently, mainly in the years 1500-1520. Because only brief mentions of these transfers are found in the available literature on this topic, and then often only as a statement, I decided to tackle this phenomenon in the context of landscape specifications. In the introductory chapter there will be a concise overview of the cultural situation of the humanistic society, including its assumptions and a brief evolution of depiction of landscape art. Additionally there will be a chapter about the terminology used, which in addition to clarifying the terminology also helps to further the description of the proce- ss itself. The main part will of course be a chapter dedicated into selected items. There will also be descriptions of the graphic works of selected Italian engravers, especially in the comparison of transferred landscape motifs from works by Albrecht Dürer and Lucas van Leyden. Spanish-Dutch Relations in the New World during the Existence of the West Indische Compagnie Eva Kubátová Abstract This dissertation is dedicated to the Spanish-Dutch relations in the New World during the existence of the first Dutch West India Company (1621-1674). On base of an imagological analysis, this thesis presents elements of mutual relations, reflected in hetero-images, together with self-representation of both analyzed parties (thus self-image) within the ongoing conflict of the Eighty Years' War. The imagological analysis is applied on archival material, chiefly the Dutch pamphlets and Spanish Relaciones de sucesos (which can be translated as "Treatises of Successes"). The result of this thesis is then an analysis of development and changes of mutual images, upon the historical events of the Spanish-Dutch war conflict: thus since the beginnings of the Dutch Revolt, passing through the Twelve Years' Truce, until the signature of the Peace of Westphalia in 1648. A special emphasis is put to the final phase of the Eighty Years' War, in this thesis delimited by the years 1621-1648, which was marked by the official entrance of the West India Company into the Spanish waters of Greater Caribbean. Migration, language and integration (Comparison of the Netherlands and Flanders in the 1970s and 1980s)

This bachelor thesis deals with the Dutch and Flemish policies towards immigrants in the 1970s and 1980s and the role attributed to language in them. It examines the arguments and concepts by which both the policies were motivated and legitimated and evaluates critically their usual periodization. It points out the risk of a wrong reading of the Dutch "tweesporenbeleid" of the 1970s as based on multiculturalism instead of expectation of return of the immigrants into their home country. It concentrates on the Minderhedennota of 1981/83 as the main turning point leading to the interpretation of the allochton-issue as socio-economic problem and examines the public debate on the basis of documents of the Dutch parliament. The acquisition of Dutch as second language, it states, always played a crucial role in the policies. Since the 1980s, more attention was paid to evaluation of school curricula in terms of non-discrimination of non-native speakers. In the Flemish case, less systematical approaches were stated. Clothing in Masterpieces of the Old Flemish School in the 15th Century

The aim of the Bachelor's Thesis is to present an overview of the evolution of the 15th Century Burgunian fashion. The Thesis is based on the study of the masterpices by the Old Flemish painters and iluminators which had been represented by the official clothing of the Burgundian aristocracy and Flemish elite. The attention is espetially paied to the details of clothes, fabrics, patterns and accessoires. Final results are confronted with the literature and the examples from the 15th Century. Burgundian fashion of Western Europe, which evolved from Gothic is continually compared with clothing from renaissantian Italy and the attention is also paied to the contamporary trade with fabrics

Communities of terrestrial nematodes after different approaches to heathland restoration

Since the 20th century, the distribution of European heathlands rapidly decreased due to agricultural intensification, heavy use of artificial fertilizers or acidification. Therefore, various attempts of heathland restoration are under way in these days. Analysis of nematode community composition can be one of the tools suitable for succession evaluation. In 2011, 2013 and 2014, soil samples were collected from heathland restoration experiment (launched in 2011) where different restoration methods were applied in a 3 × 3 factorial experiment; existing heathlands were also sampled to identify the target community both in dry and wet heathland. A total of 60 samples of extracted nematodes were analysed for absolute abundance, trophic groups, and genera dominance. Various indices were calculated to describe the nematode community. We were able to proove faster development of wet heathlands towards the target community. However, because of large data variability, there was no significant difference between treatments. Development of wet and dry heathlands differed also in increased proportion of omniphagous nematodes in 2013 and predators in 2014 in dry heathlands. Multiculturalism in Netherlands since 2005

Diploma thesis is focused on multiculturalism in Netherlands and was inspired by political discussion on cohabitation of minorities and mayor societies in Europe. The issue of assimilation contra diversity acceptation is not anyhow new, but inflection of multiculturalism at European level during the last couple of years re-opened the issue of application the multicultural theory in social affairs. The following text is summarizing new trends in multicultural theory and those are confronted with situation in Netherlands since 2005 mainly in areas of access to national Dutch citizenship, education and labour market conditions. The study shows that there were no significant deviations from multicultural trend in Dutch society.

Population development of NUTS 2 regions in Benelux countries

Population development of NUTS 2 regions in countries of the Benelux Abstract The main objective of this thesis is to analyse the population development of NUTS 2 regions in countries of Benelux in the period between 1990 and 2010. The analysis is based on monitoring of development selected indicators of age structure, mortality and fertility. The development of variability of these indicators is also observed. The goal of this study is also to find groups of NUTS 2 regions similar in values of selected demographic variables. Borders of these groups of regions are compared with national and cultural borders. For this purpose, the cluster analysis was conducted for input values of the selected variables at the beginning and at the end of the analysed period. A part of this work is devoted to outline the main characteristics of population development of the Benelux countries in the period between 1950 and 2010. Female Nudes in Paintings Dutch Renaissance Masters. Interpretations of Works of Art from Czech Collections. Abstract The bachelor thesis focused on a few selected works by Dutch Renaissance masters. The bachelor thesis is based on women nudes. To be more precise it stands on portrayal of woman nude in the art works of Dutch Renaissance painters. The nudes were divided into three different thematic groups. First group is focused on paintings with the sacral theme (Madonna and child, Susannah and the Elders, The death of Mary Magdalena). Second group brings out paintings with the profane theme (Half- length Figure of a Woman Naked to the Waist). The last group concentrates paintings of Ancient Rome (The Suicide of Sophonisba, The Suicide of Lucretia). The art works, that were chosen to be scrutinize, can be found in the czech collections of art. Each and every painting was characterized in detail using the iconography analysis, set in the period and compared to other art works that relate to them and are placed in worldwide galleries. This thesis aim is to accurate the significance of women nudes in the art works of the Dutch Renaissance masters.
