Out-of-Classroom Chemistry Essentials Education as a Mean of Scientific Literacy Development
Čábelová, Simona ; Rusek, Martin (advisor) ; Bílek, Martin (referee)
This thesis deals with the aspect of outdoor education of chemistry in the context of the natural science literacy concept. This concept is approximated here in association with the curricula documents for secondary education level and the Contextual model of learning. Based on the description of individual contexts of the aforementioned model, an alternative variant of an excursion to the Prague Waterworks Museum in Podolí is proposed. The practical part focuses on the comparison of the efficiency of the "classic" conception of a museum excursion and the alternative approach mentioned previously. The whole concept adheres to the pedagogical experimental scheme. The comparison is achieved through three testings in two groups. The first, control group, had a standard excursion led by a museum guide. The second, experimental group, had an excursion led in the proposed alternative approach. Based on the first tests - the pretests, the starting knowledge of the pupils is analyzed. The second testing is executed as posttests right after finishing each excursion. The third testing is a retention test one month after the excursion. Test results were analyzed using statistical methods. The results of the analysis point to the considerable importance of the way the excursion is led and to the great benefit of...
Teaching mathematics with the support of outdoor elements
Smetanová, Eliška ; Jirotková, Darina (advisor) ; Slezáková, Jana (referee)
The thesis deals with outdoor teaching of mathematics at primary school level. It develops the current interest in outdoor teaching using current innovative learning methods. Its focus is to serve as an inspirational resource for teaching mathematics in the area where a pupil grows up and, on the contrary, to learn about his surroundings through teaching mathematics. It relies partly on teaching via schema-oriented education, but seeks to demonstrate the benefits of outdoor teaching regardless of the style of teaching. It describes and analyzes the specific features, benefits and challenges associated with outdoor learning. The work uses Czech and foreign sources to familiarize the reader with the basic phenomena that arise in connection with the learning process. Their role is pointed out on specific outdoor activities. Detailed analyzes of these activities work in the broader sense as examples of how to lead pupils to enjoy understanding mathematical laws in a non-school environment.

Goals: The goal of the thesis is to find out the benefits of teambuilding courses and the opinion of their participants after nine years. Methods: It is a case study of a chosen class from the Prague High School of Jan Neruda. The research sample consisted of 12 high school graduates at the age of 21 - 22 years who participated on a teambuilding course in Mozolov in October 2010. The research was conducted in the form of semistructured interviews, the data were analysed by basic statistics and the results were interpreted in tables by the counts of answers. Results: By analysing the interviews we found that the teambuilding course significantly affected the creation of social relationships within the class. These relationships were further deepened throughout the high school studies, as mentioned ten respondents. Ten respondents also answered that they tried new activities during the course, however only three have been practicing some of them after the course. The main memory from the teambuilding course was the first social moment. Conclusion: The teambuilding course effects the creating and deepening of social relationships and facilitates the first contact with classmates and teachers. It didn't contribute to develop the interest in practicing outdoor activities after the course. Keywords:...
