Picture of the last judgment in Renaissance Bohemia

In my bachelor thesis I deal with portrayal of the Last Judgement in the Czech Republic in 15th -16th century. The first part was conceived as an introduction to Last Judgment - the Last judgment as a socio-cultural phenomenon; causes and history showing the last judgment; iconological-iconographic description of the subject. In the second part I'm devoted to the main topic, portrayal of the last judgment in Bohemia in the 15th-16th century. I'm trying to a compendium of all the works of art in our country, and they are especially frescoes. I also deal with the causes of their emergence, seeking their sources of inspiration and subjugation the iconographic-iconographic analysis. Then compare the individual works, not only among themselves but also with older parts that originated outside our area.
Elijah in the New Testament and Apocryphal Literature

The prophet Elijah is according to the Hebrew Bible understood as a righteous individual who did not die but was taken to heaven on a fiery chariot. This thesis attempts to clarify how the New Testament and the Old Testament Pseudepigrapha treat this legend in their own contexts which are dependent on the imagery of religious background in which Elijah is expected to return. Since both New Testament and the Old Testament Pseudepigrapha deal with possible or fictitious continuum with the Hebrew Bible, (canon of which was not necessarily settled at the time of creation of a particular New Testament or Pseudepigraphic writing), explicit mention of Elijah the prophet leads to assumptions about the nature of belief in the era of the late Judaism and early Christianity and the manner this legendary motif evolved. Depending on the phenomena and characters Elijah the prophet is dealing with in a particular writing and taking into account religious context of the writing, it is possible to find out which motifs touching this character might be considered to be brought to an end in the Christian canon and which are sort of autonomous in realms influenced by Judeo-Christian materials.
Albrecht Dürer - Apokalypse

The work draws the sight nearer to Dürer's Apokalypse from the iconographics point of view, dividend to two parts - main title and Torture of saint John with respect to the historical events and influence of prominent people determining the times when the work was created. Review of bibliography of the autors who dealed with the topic of Apocalypse in the past is presented here in contrast with contemporary view of this topic. Iconographics works bring us to the 16 lists, wich wont to prepare a ikonology desribtion to the whole work. The conclusion of the work deals with interpretation of The Apocalypse as a planned word for the forthcoming new confession - Protestantism.
Trend of zombification in contemporarymovie and serial production - audience analysis

The dissertation is titled "The trend of zombification in a current film and series production - audience-based research" and is aimed at explaining why people seek zombie themed series and movies. In the theoretical part, the author introduces the concept of a zombie in terms of its dominant position within the popular culture. With the historical background and the theoretical frame of the topic, the results of the audience research, that was focused mainly on the fans of a zombie genre, will be presented. By comparison of the media product discourse and the public discourse, the analysis reve als the hypothesis describing the relationship between the audience and the media content with a zombie theme. The research is based on a qualitative method of grounded theory. The methods of semi-structured interview and participant observation were used to collect the data.

Apocalyptic movie - background, forms and function

The bachelor thesis "Apocalyptic movie - background, forms and function" deals the apocalyptic movie phenomenon as a functional element in the occidental civilization since 1920s until now. It investigates the origins of apocalyptic thinking, i.e. expectation of the end- time, and emphasizes its religious, philosophic and practical impact in society based on Judeo- Christian tradition. It tries to adumbrate recent public apprehension, evoked by technology development, spreading of diseases, overpopulation or clash of cultures, and sums up various pessimistic visions in perspectives of human and natural sciences. Then it focuses on the beginning of apocalyptic theme in literary fiction and finally in cinematography. The work brings the original typology of apocalyptic themes, designed on the base of sample of one hundred and fifty best rated movies, and with that tries to confirm reflecting essence of apocalyptic movie, whereas compares distribution of themes and parallel social events or moods in decades. In an effort to clarify function of apocalyptic movie, the work, with help of McLuhan's media theory, uses the concept of moral panic. Apocalypse as revelation of truth in modern American fiction: Thomas Pynchon and post-9/11 novel

English summary This dissertation focuses on the apocalyptic fiction of Thomas Pynchon and analyses various representations of the apocalypse as "revelation" or "unveiling of truth" in its various aspects and manifestations (i.e. paranoia, angels, etc.) in the novels V., The Crying of Lot 49 and Gravity's Rainbow. The theme of apocalypse as a revelation concerning the true nature of the world has a key role to play in the above mentioned novels as well as significance for Pynchon's protagonists. This is so despite the fact that such revelation is depicted as illusory and mostly unattainable, since these novels are all based on the premise that there is no ultimate truth, and therefore, there is nothing that can be revealed. Pynchon's characters get only a revelation of individual truth, and thus theirs is a private apocalypse. When analysing the role of the apocalypse in Western culture, it is also important to analyse the role of millenarian expectations as well as the supposed communication process between God and people, a process depicted as being mediated by angels. The interpretation of God's message can never be precise and perfect, since its meaning is distorted during the communication process. The end of the world in the view of “mysterious characters”. Arbes’s romanetto Poslední dnové lidstva (Last days of Mankind)

The author of this paper interprets Jakub Arbes’s romanetto Poslední dnové lidstva (Last Days of Mankind) by focusing on the motif of disaster. Rather marginal to his main interest is the episode of censorship when the work was first being published, with the confiscation of a package of the first part, which showed the disaster also affected the residence of the Czech governor Thun. The main objective of this study is to understand the narrative method, which is key to understanding the text and includes the fragmentization of the plot, working with several time zones, a relatively small number of protagonists (the narrator, the priest and the madwoman), fantasy elements, the psychologism that was so popular at that time and intentionally unexplained phenomena. Moreover, the events depicted in Arbes’s book may be a mystification or the self-delusion of the subjective authorial narrator.

This work deals with positivism, which began to embed its own roots in the 18th century in philosophy of language and has started to create dramatically right after the First Word War, this positivism is known as Dialogical Personalism. This bachelor work describes Dialogical Personalism itself, its integration into philosophy and consecutive development primarily when it comes to the world´s author such as Franz Rosenzweig, Ferdinand Ebner, Martin Buber a Emmanuel Lévinas and also the Czech author scene which is represented by Karel Vrána, Jolana Poláková or Milan Machovec. In this work I am looking more deeply into the lives of these authors and I am also analysing their magnum opus in the field of philosophical dialogue. Further I am describing here the biblical proportion of this philosophical trend. This is because, Bible is the main source from which philosophers of dialogue stem from.
