Process and rate of disability among seniors

The most characteristic feature of the demographic development in the Czech Republic and other developed countries is population ageing. The aim of the thesis "The process and rate of disability among seniors" was to determine the extent to which disability interferes with the lives of the seniors and to map the development, progress and conditions of the pension system. After an introductory overview of basic concepts, a part of the thesis deals with a theoretical analysis of the European framework of social security of seniors and another part is concerned with the reform of disability pensions in the Czech Republic. The focus is also on the forms of care for disabled pensioners. The last chapter of a theoretical part deals with deinstitutionalization. The empirical part analyzes the areas related to the development of population structure, administrative agenda, overview of pensions according to the WHO diagnosis groups, total overview of disability pensions, the development of the structure of pensions, financing of pension administration, and the average age of retired people. Current problems in institutions providing social services for adults and senior citizens with mental or combined disability

This thesis deals with issues concerning adults and seniors with mental disability living in institutions providing social services. Special care is dedicated to those who relocated into the institutions in their adult life, often after their parents' death. Qualitative research was chosen to provide the obtained information with proper depth. The results of this research come from the analysis of interviews provided by users of social services and professionals working with people with mental disability. The aim of this thesis is to describe behavioural problems associated with users who came into the institutions later in their life, and offer them specific recommendations that would make their transition easier. DIPLOMOVÁ PRÁCE Pěstounská péče na přechodnou dobu Foster care for temporary period Pavla Blatná Abstract This master's thesis focuses on the topic of foster care for temporary period in the context of deinstitutionalization of facilities for children who cannot be part of their biological family. The aim of this work was to map out and describe the system of this form of foster care and to monitor whether there are children in Czech Republic placed into large care facilities who would benefit from another form of foster family care. The introductory part describes the development of paradigms and legislation related to foster care in the Czech Republic. The research part focuses on three areas of questions related to foster care for temporary period. They are questions of practical implications of deinstitutionalization, financial issues related to deinstitutionalization and finally deinstitutionalization as viewed from ethics and democracy perspectives, all related to the context of foster care for temporary period. Each topic is further elaborated with data from research interviews with four professionals of the foster care field.
Social Policy Failure in Relation to Long-Term Care for the Elderly in Residential Facilities in the Czech Republic

The need for all-day care for the elderly will be increasing, taking into consideration the future demographic development of the population. The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to identify obstacles that impede the development of residential social care services for seniors in the Czech Republic which provide long-term care. There is an unsatisfied demand for them in the Czech environment lasting for many years. The thesis also focuses on detecting the systemic problems of long-term care policy in the Czech Republic and outlines possible recommendations or solutions for the future. The conceptual and theoretical framework of the thesis consists of a description of the concept of deinstitutionalization from the perspective of the theory of institutional change, a description of the concept of long-term care and typology of long-term care systems. The thematic analysis of the transcriptions of expert interviews and secondary documents tended to meet the research aims. The basic findings from the practical part of the work illustrate that the current system of long-term care for the elderly in the Czech Republic is inconvenient and requires several changes. Transformation of social services and the perception of the impact of the transformation from the perspective of clients, workers and guardians

1 Abstract This work concentrates on transformation of social services, in other words, it focuses on the possibilities of disabled clients in the transition from institutional care to support provided within a community. The aim of the thesis is a deeper insight into the organization, which already deals with the above described transformation and evaluation of the positives or negatives of this process. This work has also an ambition to be at the same time a tool for those who are preparing for the transformation process and may have concerns or inadequate expectation from the planned changes. This text also evaluates the impact of transformation on the quality of life of the handicapped and the degree of gaining of independence by a subjective view of the client, five years after the beginning of the changes, and completion of the perception of these impacts by the guardian and the staff of the organization. Transformation of social service facilities

The bachelor work deals with comparison of institutional care and community social service. It describes the formation and development of institutional care and its conditions in recent days. At the beginning there is given a definition of terms concerning the social services to handicapped people, especially to mental retarded ones. The goal of this work is to assess the contribution of transformation in social care from the point of view of the client. Further it analyses the benefits to better quality of life and improvement of competences. Proper support helps handicapped people to a fully-fledged life and to full or at least partial inclusion in society. The final part goes through real experiences with transformation in one particular facility. Personal experiences ilustrate best the contribution of changes in description of various areas in everyday life.
Social services of people with disabilities according to the legislation in the Czech Republic

The objective of this work is the clear introduction to the system of social care for the people with disabilities. Usage, accessibility and quality of the social care system is verified by the survey. In the first chapter, historical development of the social care is presented. Also, there is the definition of a disability. Today's legislation is discussed in the second chapter. Analysis of the care allowance is discussed in the third chapter. In the fourth chapter, multiple social services are defined. Also, examples of registered providers are listed in the chapter four. The quantitative research is introduced in the fifth chapter. Four hypothesis concerning accessibility and quality of the social care are confirmed by visually impaired respondents of survey. The autonomy and the protection of the social care users by rules for providers is emphasized. This work proves that the social care and registered providers are perceived positively. It is also confirmed that the care provided by the close person is the most desired one.
Transformation and Deinstitutionalization in Substitutional Child Care System in the Czech Republic

Substitutional child care is an indispensable part of system of social and legal protection of children. Until 1989, institutional care was preferred, while after the fall of communist government it had been gradually replaced by substitutional family care, because of the inappropriateness of institutional care to fully compensate for family environment. Deinstitutionalization means transforming the system of placing children to alternative care and it is understood as transition from institutional care to types of substitutional family care, eventually to more individual type of care with more family character. An amendment to the Social and Legal Children Protection Act, which aimed at transforming the system of substitutional care towards more individual work with endangered children, came into force in 2013. The amendment restored the institute of temporary foster care and modified the institute of long-term foster care. Transformation of social services for people with disabilities in the context of deinstitutionalization

This diploma thesis looks into the transformation of social services for people with disabilities in the context of deinstitutionalization in the Czech Republic. To answer the research goals (1) To find out how the main transformation processes in the field of social services policy in the Czech Republic were performed in the context of deinstitutionalization, focusing on a group of people with disabilities, (2) to find out by the optics of SKCP, how are people with disabilities involved in the deinstitutionalization policy of the residential social services, the approach of qualitative research was used. The approach is based on the document analysis and the expert research. The theoretical starting points of this thesis are the theory of implementation and the components of the theoretical framework of target population's social construction, focusing on political power.
