Portrayal of immigrants and refugees in the news media: A comparative analysis of the 2015 refugee crisis, the Covid-19 pandemic, and the Russian aggression against Ukraine

This master's thesis focuses on a comparative study of the political framing of immigrants and refugees in Czech media during three key periods: the migration crisis of 2015-2016, the Covid- 19 pandemic, and the period following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The thesis has two main objectives: to examine which frames prevailed in the portrayal of immigrants and refugees during each period and, secondly, to attempt to explain the variation in frames used by individual politicians in their media appearances related to framing of immigrants and refugees. To achieve these goals, the thesis employs quantitative content analysis and regression analysis. Content analysis of the framing of immigrants and refugees is conducted based on the data from the main evening newscasts of the most-watched Czech television channels. Key frames identified during the three periods include administrative, economic, security, cultural, and humanitarian frames. The results suggest that politicians adapt their framing of immigrants and refugees based on the socio-political context and the structure and characteristics of incoming immigrants and refugees. Fake news a nástroje jejich odhalování

In response to the increasing danger connected to the issue of the spread of fake news the thesis focuses on the distinction of terms associated with the fake news phenomenon (fake news, disinformation, hoax, conspiracy, manipulation, propaganda etc.), introduces different types of news media (traditional media, alternative media, fake news sites and social media). The thesis further states potential reasons for the mistrust in mainstream media as a possible cause of the recipients' inclination to alternative sources. In response to the increasing number of information coming from different types of news sources, there is a growing need to verify this information, thus the key competencies (critical thinking and media literacy) in the fight against the fake news are introduced. The thesis further elaborates the issue of automatic verification (along with its effectiveness) of news on the internet. Online applications exposing fake news sites are subjected to research in comparative analysis. The results of the examination highlight some of their imperfections that online tools contend.
Reportage photography and its informative value

Our thesis is dealing with case of reportage photography and medial sharing of our choosen visual image. We have choosen an image of syrian refugee Aylan Kurdi from 2015, whose photo is refering the problem of refugee crisis in Europe. The thesis is focused on semiotic approach of selected photographies, which are showing the same picture from different perspectives. In our case is perspective very important part of thesis, because these photographies are very questionable on ehtical principes. Therefore, we are also focused on the way, how the media deal with this issue. Our thesis points the signs of reportage photography and also monitor their changes, which depends on the medium, title, perex and composition of words completing photography.We are also focused on contextual framework of photography in choosen media. The secondary objective of our thesis is the comparision of results of analysis of selected picture published in individual selected media and comparision of differences in interpretation and photography context. Thesis is primaly based on theoretical concepts of Roland Bathers on specific visual sharing of selected media. The Use of Twitter by the Czech News Agency and Reuters

This Bachelor's Thesis focuses on news agencies, organizations that collect, process and provide intelligence information on domestic and foreign events to its clients (such as media), and their relationship with social media. This work aims to find out how the Czech News Agency (ČTK), the largest wire service in the Czech Republic, uses Twitter to disseminate its news outputs published on the České noviny website. This is achieved, among others, by comparison with Reuters, one of the largest and one of the world's oldest news agencies. The thesis consists of the theoretical section that provides information on Twitter and its influence on news media and journalism, describes specifics of news agencies, as well as their functioning in digital times, and the research section, which is further divided into quantitative and qualitative. Using the R programming language, the quantitative research analyses tweets of ČTK news account in selected days in comparison to Reuters' posts from the same period and general recommendations for using Twitter. Analysis of a Marketing Communication in MF and MOM

The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to analyse and evaluate marketing communication tools, used by the Museum of Photography and Modern Visual Media in Jindřichův Hradec, which the public is addressed by. On the basis of the findings there are recommended possible solutions for the improvement of the communication mix of the certain organization. The thesis suggests another possibility of the use of the Photography festival to make the subject visible.
Elite and mass culture in the theatre, examples of productions and market segmentation in Prague

The Bachelor thesis addresses the subject of elite and mass culture in the theater. From theoretical and practical points of view, it tries to affect the main differences between the two cultural forms referenced herein. Based on theoretical findings, outlined in part one, the particular representatives of Prague theaters, their repertoire and attendance are then practically analyzed. In conclusion, the whole issue is also analyzed through the questionnaires concerning the preferences of today's society. This thesis aims to assess the situation generally in today's theater scene in Prague -- whether contemporary performing arts can be divided according to elite and mass culture and whether its distribution plays a role in the preferences of audience.
Mass News Media in the Information Society

This work deals with mass media and influence of modern technology on them. The goal is to familiarise the reader with all the aspects it brings. First part is aimed on the terminology and the history of mass media. The second part closely investigates the current state of mass media. It clarifies the role of entertainment they contain, analyses internet news websites, describes current trends on the internet. It investigates the current crisis of printed mass media and introduces the reader not only as a receiver of information communicated by mass media, but also as a co-creator of it. This work also aims at the influence of the mass media in the society. Third chapter is about the research among journalists and experts on the mass media, but also among the public. In this, the hypothesis are confronted with the findings of the research.
Disinformation and its impacts on practice

The diploma thesis is focused on disinformation and its relationship to the mass media and public. The main aim of the thesis is to provide a general overview of disinformation, point out the menace resulting from its underestimating and present the clues on how to eliminate its impacts. The work is divided into two main parts. The first one is theoretical and summarizes the existing knowledge in information and disinformation theory. It is supplemented by own typology of the disinformation and includes a practical example of each type. The end of the theoretical part is addressed to the special place that mass media have in the process of disinforming. The second part is related to practical issues. It results from a detailed analysis of the most widely-read statewide daily newspapers and the structure of their readers. The social-demographic factors that influence the rate of received disinformation are set.
