Voda, Jan ; Spilková, Vladimíra (advisor) ; Walterová, Eliška (referee) ; Uhlířová, Jana (referee)
The Key Decision-making Processes in Creating School and Implementing the School Curriculum The thesis focuses on the role of a teacher in his/her triple position. Each of these roles provides a piece of inspiration for reflection on the internal school transformation, both on theoretical and empirical level. The first one regards the role of a teacher as an experimenter. Our study balances the possibilities and limits of the experimental approach with regard to the condition of teacher's high degree of personal engagement and also the social context. From the other perspective, we observe a teacher as bearer of school quality. This is conditioned by the adoption of a creative role in the transformation effort in which teachers have to demonstrate their willingness and ability to change the current school with regard to the newly- conceived paradigm in education. Finally, the third point of view follows the teacher as a creator of the curriculum and school. In terms of Czech education teachers must deal with the complexity of a new professional situation which stems from an innovative, experimental nature of the School Educational Program making-process. In this process they make decisions according to which values and goals they accent in their pedagogical work. The research part of the thesis...

Dvořáková, Kateřina ; Spilková, Vladimíra (advisor) ; Ries, Lumír (referee) ; Betáková, Lucie (referee)
12. SUMMARY This dissertation, titled The Waldorf Approach to Teaching Foreign Languages, deals with the methodology of foreign-language teaching used at Waldorf (Steiner) schools with a particular focus on young learners aged 6 to 10. Its main aim is to present and explore how foreign languages are taught in this pedagogical system with over ninety years of worldwide experience in incorporating two foreign languages into a primary curriculum from the first class onwards. The choice of the topic was determined by the following factors: 1) Even though Waldorf pedagogy has been the subject of numerous scholarly works in the Czech Republic since 1989, there are no studies specifically treating the theme of foreign-language teaching. 2) Books about the Waldorf approach to teaching foreign languages are largely written in German, and on the whole they are not easily accessible. In addition to this general lack of resources, the available materials contain mostly information about the content and expected outcomes for each school year and suggestions for concrete activities, but there is no systematic and thorough description of the methodological background to foreign-language teaching. 3) The Waldorf methodology deeply rooted in the humanistic tradition could be a stimulating and thought-provoking incentive for...

Suchánková, Květa ; Vašutová, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Spilková, Vladimíra (referee) ; Urbánek, Petr (referee)
Many documents dealing with education policy consider professional standard one possible type of teachers' work stimulation. The absence of a document of this type is increasingly being felt in Czech educational environment. How can we support teacher's work in present conditions so that it reaches the highest possible quality? One of the possible solutions is to approach professional standard as a set of quality criteria and indicators that can be used in evaluation. This thesis develops an evaluation strategy using a professional standard that has been specified based on educational goals and objectives and school functions. By connecting quality indicators defined in the aforesaid standard with the components of teacher's professional behaviour (4 I) this thesis has developed an original evaluation strategy focused on teachers' work support. At creation of the evaluation strategy, proposed professional standards are utilised as a formative conception; they may serve namely to specify criteria of teacher's quality. The main purpose of the standards lies in formulation of qualification requirements for entering the profession; however, this specification also allows us to conceive the term of "above standard". The basic methods of the evaluation strategy include: case study, monitoring, interview, content...
