Child with diagnosed syndrome of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in the learning process of basic education

The thesis deals with various approaches of primary school teachers to pupils with Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The theoretical part describes in detail the etiology of ADHD, the problems of ADHD children experienced in the learning process of primary education, as well as individual needs of ADHD students and recommended approaches of teachers to these students. It deals with possibilities of treatments. The empirical part is based on a survey performed among parents of primary school students with ADHD focusing on parents' perceptions of teachers' attitude toward pupils. Teachers' point of view and perceptions were gained through interviews. The results are summared and suggestions for thinking about it have been made in the end of the thesis.
The influence of shared custody on the child's school success in primary school

The topic of this diploma thesis is the influence of joint custody on school successfulness of a child. In the theoretical part I describe a contemporary family and major functions of the family. I chart the situation of legislation in the Czech Republic, I deal with circumstances how the Czech courts make a decision about commiting children into parental care after a divorce of their parents and whether the number of children being involved in joint custody increases. I am really interested in the fact whether the courts make a decision based on the child needs. Following this part I focus on the definition of school successfulness of children and the behaviour of younger learners. I indicate the factors that could have an influence on school successfulness. In the practical part I present the results of my qualitative research. I explore the influence of joint custody into child school successfulness from the point of view of class teachers. I survey the behaviour of children who live in joint custody after the divorce of parents and I also take an interest into the fact whether the class teacher have noticed any features that could connect these children.

Primary school choice - an important mechanism influencing equity in education Jaroslava Simonová Abstract This dissertation describes the process of school choice in primary education and the factors influencing it. Using a qualitative grounded theory design, the work builds on data from 41 interviews with parents from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. Parents' decision-making about school choice is shaped primarily by the organizational needs of parents and their inner need to be a "good parent". When being interviewed, parents report a number of criteria, which, according to them, are important in school choice. However, for many of them they fail to obtain relevant and reliable information. Therefore, they may eventually make a decision based on criteria other than those referred to as important, although they are rarely aware of this shift and the change in criteria. There are three unavoidable criteria in decision-making: availability, reputation and the emotions that parents experienced at school during their visit. Named entity recognition in the biomedical domain

Thesis Title: Named Entity Recognition in the Biomedical Domain Named entity recognition (NER) is the task of information extraction that attempts to recognize and extract particular entities in a text. One of the issues that stems from NER is that its models are domain specific. The goal of the thesis is to focus on entities strictly from the biomedical domain. The other issue with NER comes the synonymous terms that may be linked to one entity, moreover they lead to issue of disambiguation of the entities. Due to the popularity of neural networks and their success in NLP tasks, the work should use a neural network architecture for the task of named entity disambiguation, which is described in the paper by Eshel et al [1]. One of the subtasks of the thesis is to map the words and entities to a vector space using word embeddings, which attempts to provide textual context similarity, and coherence [2]. The main output of the thesis will be a model that attempts to disambiguate entities of the biomedical domain, using scientific journals (PubMed and Embase) as the documents of our interest.
Towards school inclusion

Towards School Inclusion Abstract Since September 2016, the so-called inclusive amendment, i.e. Decree No. 27/2016 Coll., on the education of pupils with special educational needs, has been in force in Czech schools. The multiple-case study of three schools describes the process of change in different contexts prior to 2016. Three inclusive schools were selected based on measuring the level of inclusion and their public declaration of striving for inclusion. The data research sources were narrative interviews with current and former principals of the selected schools, their deputies, some teachers, assistants, parents and/or representatives of the municipality. IPA was used to analyze the data. The inclusive school is a product of a principal's vision and their transformative leadership. The key for a successful transformation was to change not only processes and structures but mainly the culture, thus common understanding of the goals. The central concept was communication and collaboration. The respondents perceived themselves as pioneers and communities sharing the same values. Creating conditions for respecting the needs and differences of each child and gaining community trust were the necessary steps for this transformation. Forms of 'empowerment' in the frame of the anti-discrimination agenda in Education 'Empowerment' - or a state of emancipation, in which an individual is able to achieve their goals, fulfill their needs, and reach their potential despite the structural limitations - should be the result of education. Forms of empowerment include: the capacity of involved actors to make changes, and their ability to influence conditions and structures, in which they move. In my dissertation, I inspect the empowerment found in actors in Education, families, the public sector, schools and other governmental organizations. I conducted my research in the context of the integration of the so-called 'inclusive education' and the associated changes in the system of the Czech elementary education, in the period of spring 2013 until the end of 2017. The method of qualitative research I chose was the stakeholder analysis and in-depth interviews. I analyzed the gathered data from the point of view of the actors' goals and agendas, their experience with discrimination, their involvement in the inclusive education, their cooperation with each other, and last but not least, from the point of view of the power(lessness) and empowerment of the actors themselves describe it. Montessori school in a small town

The diploma thesis describes the role of Montessori schools in a small town. In large cities, the range of educational opportunities is more varied; in a small town, Montessori schools are often the only alternative to regular primary schools. For the purpose of the research, the qualitative design of the multi-case study was chosen. Two schools participated in the research. Through in-depth interviews with five parents, four teachers and two school founders, initial expectations and their fulfillment were identified from the perspective of all groups of respondents. Parents expect a friendly and safe environment, an individual approach, and respect for the child, a cooperative environment, a stimulating way of teaching, support for the children's internal motivation, freedom and responsibility at the same time. Teachers' expectations consisted in the possibility of applying alternative ways of teaching with regard to the individuality of the pupil, respecting the approach and cooperating team. Discipline in a Waldorf school from the teacher's point of view

This bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of discipline in Waldorf schools. It broadens the horizons of functioning of the Waldorf school, its philosophy and the work of Waldorf teachers. Qualitative research focuses on four disciplinary problems, namely failing tasks or preparing them not sufficiently, lack of concentration, using vulgar words and using mobile phones while they are forbiden. Through in-depth interviews, it surveys how teachers maintain discipline, or address indiscipline in classroom. The research offers an overview of the strategies that were employed. These strategies are compared to current trends in classroom management. The results serve as an inpiration not only for Waldorf teachers in dealing with indiscipline.
