Mikoláš, Michal ; Tuček, Milan (advisor) ; Buchtík, Martin (referee)
The author deals with MMORPGs, a special computer game genre. MMORPGs are designed to host simultaneous playing of a large number of people. The key topic is role- playing, which occurs when the players accept a fictional role connected with their avatar. The text also includes description of the terms avatar, guilds, synthetic worlds, games and online games. The basic premise of this theoretically oriented work is that role-playing is not a homogenous issue and takes different forms as a result of the server/guild game style choice. The author collected data in World of Warcraft game environment. He created an avatar which helped him to observe actions of others while taking "field notes" and recording the chat communication of the players. The author compared data recorded while playing in two differently oriented guilds, which helped to create and describe basic definitions and forms of role-playing in online games.

Soviet civilization. The Phenomenon of the USSR in reflection of the contemporary Russian Sociology
Bělonožník, Zdeněk ; Petrusek, Miloslav (advisor) ; Kubát, Martin (referee) ; Tuček, Milan (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to introduce a specific discussion of contemporary Russian historical and social science on the phenomenon of the USSR and its role within Russian history. In particular, concepts of three contemporary Russian authors are analysed that deal with topics such as specific periods of Soviet history, context of USSR establishment and its breakdown, internal dynamics and transformation, leading principles of the society life or the Union's relations towards both West and the Third World. The questions of continuity of Russian history and relation between Russian tradition and modernity constitute horizontal issues that diffuse discussion on most of the particular topics. The presented concepts illustrate considerable complexity of the postsoviet Russian disccussion; at the same time they reffer to certain leading lines which allow to overarch the variety of ideas by general concept of "Russian point of view". One of the lines consists in confronting the USSR/Russia with the West, quality that traditionally marks any Russian discussion on the country's identity. The author of the current document intends to demonstrate that the idealized reflection of the Russia/USSR that we can witness in works of most Russian historicians might particularly arise from their incorrect 5 perception of the...

Boarding of students living in the dormitory Hvězda
Přibyl, Marek ; Tuček, Milan (advisor) ; Balážová, Eva (referee)
Dining together, feasting and other rituals associated with food form are significant part of the history of human society. However, nowadays we can see the decline of their importance. The aim of my thesis is to show how students perceive their dining at the dormitory and how much the dining is important for them. This thesis could be divided into three parts. The first one presents the social and cultural meaning of the joint dining in the human society and there are also presented research questions. The second part is explaining the research and the methods of data collection and analysis used in this work. The results of the research are then summarized in the last part. After moving to the dormitory the boarding of the students is very individual and they perceive it as something ordinary and therefore not so important. The change occurs in two possible ways. First, the individual change of personal values associated with meal (e.g. by confrontation with long-term impact of dining). Second, a meal shared with partner when food is again seen as important. During a visit home these changes in boarding habits can cause conflicts with parents. My thesis is also focused on borrowing and sharing equipment resulting in closer relationship between students.

Horáčková, Tereza ; Řezáčová, Vendula (advisor) ; Tuček, Milan (referee)
The thesis deals with the problem of the influence that parents have on the integration of Vietnamese children into the Czech society. Immigration strategy for majority of Vietnamese residing in Czech Republic is not any more based on sacrificing their lives for material profit and the vision of the return to homeland. The author observes the tendency of Vietnamese immigrants to build appropriate conditions for permanent residence in Czech Republic and to raise their children there. Being the offspring of Vietnamese immigrants, that is actively integrating into Czech society and creating the bridge between relatively separated minority and majority. The whole work is based on case study of a group of Vietnamese immigrants, more precisely of the immigrants of second generation, who find themselves between two separate cultural units - the Czech majority, and Vietnamese community, represented by their parents. The main topic examined in the thesis is the influence that education has on children's integration into Czech society and on the process of forming their cultural and social identity. Identity of young Vietnamese is being formed by ascription and eventually by playing social roles. The author bases the work on the theoretical concepts, as acculturation strategies, identity, identification and...
