Computerized adaptive testing and its use in psychodiagnostic
Dlouhá, Jana ; Bahbouh, Radvan (advisor) ; Niederlová, Markéta (referee)
5 Abstract The theoretical part of the paper focuses on computerized adaptive testing (CAT) and item response theory (IRT). Also included is a chapter comparing IRT with the commonly used classical test theory (CTT). There is also a brief mention of computerized and online testing, as these types of administration differ in many aspects from conventional paper & pencil tests. The goal of this paper was to evaluate the individual ways of eEPI test administration and to compare them with eEPQ tests and self-evaluation. In the practical part the items of the extraversion scale of the Eysenck Personality Inventory (eEPI) were calibrated using a group of 124 respondents. The acquired data were subsequently used to carry out a simulation of computerized adaptive testing, which clearly demonstrated the benefits of this type of testing in comparison to the classical test form. These results were compared with the results of real CAT test administration using the original sample and a new group of respondents (Np=69, Nn=68). The results were highly correlated with the results of the simulated test. Moreover, to verify the validity of the computerized adaptive version of eEOD, the respondents' results in this test were compared with the results in the eEPQ test and in a short self-assessment scale. Finally,...

Problem whole. Holistic concepts in environmental education
Dlouhá, Jana ; Kratochvíl, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Drozenová, Wendy (referee) ; Stibral, Karel (referee)
The work developed from exploring basic principles of environmental education that form and constitute this area as a distinct field of education: its human dimension, holistic approach, integrative, systems, complex and contextual character, its balancing, connective, ethical dimensions. Attention was focused on the concept of holism, and educational consequences of the holistic point of view, and also holistic approaches in specific disciplines. Areas of interest included methods of natural sciences, particularly where these sciences face methodological limitations, focus on complex features or attempts to unify fields of knowledge. Systems theories as well as definitions of interdisciplinarity were under consideration, as well as unifying concepts in ethics and pedagogy. Comparison of the holistic approach in these different contexts was made and the influence of the concept of the "whole" on the generation of meaning in different discourses was examined. Consequences for the pedagogical field were deduced. Here it was concluded that education (educere) as leading and supporting life motion, growth and development, is based on holistic knowledge that is in relationship with the world and needs continuous care. Education then has to lead not only to understanding of the "whole" of human life, but also of...

The University of Profesor Cactus- An Evaluation of the Orbis Kaktus 2008 Global Education Course Methology
Horáková, Ivana ; Činčera, Jan (advisor) ; Dlouhá, Jana (referee)
The thesis evaluates the Orbis Kaktus 2008 experiential learning course in global and environmental education and assesses the change of attitudes, opinions, understanding and behaviour of its participants. The course relied on three basic concepts (or horizons): the perception of natural beauty (1), the understanding of the world's interconnectedness (2) and the knowledge of one's active involvement (3). The changes in the participants on these levels were assessed and the goals of the methodology were evaluated on both the curricular level (the impact on the participants' understanding of the concepts) and the group development level (to what extent the group had been integrated into a functional unit capable of cooperating on specific projects). The evaluation was based on a written feedback from the course, interviews with participants and data from questionnaires collected before and after the course. In general, the goals of the course had been fulfilled, but the data revealed some factors that might have additional effect on both the effectiveness and the impact of the course. The aim of this paper is to help to develop the methodology of similar programmes and reflect upon its effectiveness. It should also shed some light on the possible barriers of the course goals' fulfilment.
