Teachers and beginnings of Pedagogical Museum in Prague

The current Pedagogical Museum of J. A. Comenius belongs to one of the oldest museums in the Czech Republic. Its more than a hundred-year-old historyhas been accompanied by several turning points in its whole existence. With the initiation ofthis establish mentwe see teachers of elementary and municipal education trying to give birth to an institution which would preserve and document the development of the Czech educational system. From 1880 teachers worked hard to realize an institution that would preserve the cultural heritage of J. A. Comenius. Together with the upcoming 300th anniversary celebration of J. A. Comenius' birth their idea was initiated by Josef Klika at the Literary Union meeting held in 1889. The collection was successfully presented at theRegional Jubilee Exhibition in 1891 in the Municipal Museum in Prague in 1892 and at the Ethnographic Exhibition in 1895. The Comenius Museum was then transferred under the collective stock of Permanent Exhibition of Education (St,ila vystava skolska) to stay there until a new pedagogical museum could be established in Prague. Finally, in 1916 the newly founded Pedagogical Museum of J. A. Comenius was presented atits opening ceremony. Organic architecture and contemporary residential living

Organic architecture is often used term especially in connection with the daring and experimental form. The exact definition or division is still missing. The founder of modern organic architecture is to be generally considered as Frank Loyd Wright. He was the man who created organic architecture and also made first definition in the early twentieth century, when formulating new architectural styles. Dissertation deals with insufficiently described problem of organic architecture. The main focus is on contemporary production of residential organic architecture in Central Europe. Especially on the particular realizations in Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Austria, Germany and Poland. Beside detail description of European realizations, the dissertation deals also with foundations of organic architecture in U.S.A. and important realizations here. Modern organic architecture primarily originated in the United States of America. The work presents most important contemporary realizations and architects creating resident living organic architecture in other countries around the world in order to complete the overview. The objective of dissertation was describing newest trends in designing buildings for living. Find position of organic architecture and give reasons for it´s increasing popularity, spread and necessity for new development in architecture according to the new trends. Organic architecture is an alternative way of contemporary residential living. It´s popularity is growing in last years in response to the development of modern technologies and materials, the need to protect our natural resources and also to the increasing negatives of globalization and to denial of local traditions and regional specificities. Aspects of organic forms were divided into three main groups according to their main characteristics: form, harmony and sustainable development. Another objective was find location of contemporary organic residential architecture in Czech Republic and abroad. It is rather spread all over the world than concentrated on certain places. Therefore I selected countries that are richer than the others on the occurrence of organic buildings. The objective was also to address architects, specialists, public and especially university teachers of architecture and students themselves. Communication with them was mainly connected with grant project in 2010. The theme of grant project was contemporary organic architecture in residential living. There were lectures about contemporary organic architecture and exhibition on the theme: Contemporary living organic architecture. The publication of the catalog was published under the title: Contemporary organic houses - Europe. I had the opportunity to visit a number of organic family houses abroad. Specifically houses in Slovakia, Hungary and Germany. Results of survey, which was realized by questions to owners and authors of chosen buildings, are included in dissertation. The mail results of dissertation are - make a detail review of organic architecture in residential living - define trends in contemporary organic architecture and residential living - obtain and process answers from owners and authors of chosen buildings within survey - analysis of organic house ( houses) in city planning and landscape - publication of catalogue focused on organic contemporary European houses - article about contemporary organic architecture and residential living will be published in 2012 on archiweb page

The Effect of Thermal Exposure of the Porosity and Mineralogy of Dense Silica Bricks.

Silica bricks is a refractory building material which contains at least 93 % of silicon dioxide in polymorphic forms, mostly -tridymite, -cristobalite and unreacted -quartz. In glass industry is used for building crowns of glass tanks and in coke industry is used for building coke oven batteries. The advantage is the high refractoriness under load, high resistance to acidic melts. The disadvantage is the low resistance to changes in temperature below 600 °C. The thesis deals with the influence of repeated firing on the silica bricks and to its porous structure and mineralogical composition.

Conversion of the preserved historic buildings of the castle Zdar nad Sazavou

The area was from its inception a hub of not only the surrounding area but the entire region. Founding order of monks founded it in the mid-13th century, amid wild Žďárské Hills. The monastery is a significant push for the development of agriculture, education, and also brought the new technology. Its peak in the area enjoyed under the guidance of an enlightened abbot Vaclav Vejmluva, who advocated the architecturally unique. He invited architect Jan Blazej Santini Aichel to design complex remodeling and designing the pilgrimage church of St. John of Nepomuk on Green Mountain. It is this unique today is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List for its unique style of Baroque Gothic. The monastery was closed by decree of Emperor Joseph II. in 1784. Shortly after he was bought by the nobility. Despite these events complex kept its position as a cultural and educational center continues to serve lidem.1930 lock acquires ownership of the Kinsky family, but in 1948 there is a nationalization of assets transferred under the management and ownership of the state. This period brought a large decline of the entire complex, which after centuries of its unique position came. Very convenient position at the junction large cities of Prague and Brno, architectural and historic qualities combined with the beauty and diversity of the surrounding nature helps lock to become a major tourist center. The aim is to underline this position a lucrative background and offering his own castle, while keeping genius loci and underline its importance. Given the set goal and the architecture of the campus, I divided the complex into three zones, which are variable deeper into the area treat. The first zone is public, it consists of museums, galleries and meeting facilities, it is the noisiest and accessible first. Serve as regular visitors and tourists who are staying in the area. This zone is a kind of buffer, protecting the gradual calming. The second zone is a semi-public, already serves local school pupils and visitors to the spa and hotel guests. This zone also serves as an access and smoothing filter. The last zone is semi-private. Almost in its entirety it occupies park hotel, which dates back to the shore of the pond and is adjacent to the private gardens of Princess Tamara Kinski. This environment is free from all the noise and undesirable elements associated with heavy traffic roads and features associated with the first zones. They serve as a refuge. All zones are connected barrier-covered footbridge, which starts at and ends up on the edge of the complex ecology museum. This bridge will merge as a kind of mediator and connections between functions and increases the comfort offered. The bridge is fully enclosed and provides a safe journey and a refuge from the often raw local weather. The entire complex is designed as a universally embracing space. The area serves primarily for the pleasure of the mind and soul and allow himself to penetrate wildness and diversity Zdarske nature. Scale remains a very human and avoids congestion visitor. They serve as a refuge in the wildness of the landscape and the environment as a place of education, culture and history.

Sanitary Ceramics

My thesis is a presentation of Jika Laufen for the international exhibition Expo 2015 in Milan. The work consists of designing and installing sinks into the exposure so that they are in a uniform manner. I designed the concept of the well for several reasons: the bathroom is an intimate space where it should be emphasized emotion , atmosphere and feelings. It is a space where a person should relax. The second aspect is that the ceramic has an organic origin, came from the ground and through the fire becomes very durable and solid. A no less important is the third aspect, exist on the context. Expo is an international exhibition and therefore the presentation of this forest exposure does not represent a Czech company, but also a Czech environment, where you will find beautiful nature and sources of known rivers. My concept is based on emotion and contrast materials. Delicate white ceramics have planted in a sharp stone and dark green leafy moss, creating a contrast full voltage . The exhibition of this type should not be missed even modern technology. That is my proposal represented feeler drain, which is around the perimeter of the sink hidden under the edge so as not to disturb the perception of the whole.

Projecting Film Into Painting

Film screenings in painting In his theoretical work and film storyboard artwork I had the opportunity to prepare the philosophical basis for the practical part of the thesis. I was inspired by many authors with different approaches to film and film footage contemplation. For me as a creator, it was important to work with what is well-known. I dealt with the question of whether he could reality that surrounds us, filmic look when she make her over. After previous experience of seeing the painting, which draws on the film composition and borrowing of foreign ideas, I decided - as well as a film director - search for compositions which can be seen in the reality around us. Following my bachelor thesis, which was purely monochromatic cycle, I now chose a color theme and I returned to the activities that precede the making of the film. Our eye can function as a film lens. A seemingly ordinary reality is for me a pretext for building atmospheric film scene. For a long time I wore a camera with me, which was ready to use the moment I discovered an interesting space or situation. Patterns for paintings I naturally found in my travels around the city. I specifically sought location, which could be part of an imaginary film. For me, the composition under sunny streets huddled different feeling and unfinished, something that comes and works below the surface of each image in parallel. I hope linking reality and personal paintings will boost the atmosphere as value added. Name Film screenings in painting refers to the vocabulary filmmakers, the author looks at the experiences around film composition. In my work I wanted to simulate the Czech local, peculiar atmosphere of the place. During the work, there was a change from the original plan, and that the originals are really own, nevypůjčené. Heroes paintings are everyday people with their personal stories. However, there is a blending and assimilation of different film genres. For example, an image with the workers and the working machine has a compositional compliance with the sci-fi film, light and story recall something that we could ever see. Compared painters who have the means to extensive designed templates, I worked with a range that can be found only through accurate observation of reality. Construction patterns and Figures, therefore, actor scene, I could not prepare in advance. I counted with the fact that something interesting camera ready to capture and scene appeared before me. A crucial part of the process of my work was therefore observation and effort as possible to capture the genius loci.

Effect of environmental factors on the rate of cellulose decomposition in selected wetlands

This thesis is a part of the project No. P504/11/1151 of The Grant Agency of the Czech Republic, entitled The role of plants in the greenhouse gas budget of a sedge fen. In this thesis, the decomposition rate of a standard material (cellulose) is assessed for three types of wetlands, which differ in water regime. The study took place at two localitites of marginal wetlands with standing water (Mokré louky near Třeboň, Záblatské louky), two floodplain localities (Brouskův mlýn and Hamerské louky) and two peatbog localities (intact and mined parts of Červené blato, respectively). The intensity of decomposition processes was compared among the sites using the method of cellulose bags. The bags were made from nylon nets, each was divided into five pockets and a cellulose strip was inserted in each pocket. A filter paper was used as the cellulose. These bags were placed vertically into the soil profile so that the upper sample was lying on the surface and the lowest was at the depth of 25 cm below the surface. At each locality four places were randomly selected and four replicate bags with cellulose were placed on each of them. In total 96 bags were put in place, which makes 480 cellulose samples. Two experiments, differing in length of exposition, were carried out in 2013. The samples were taken from the field sites after three and five weeks of exposure (experiment No. 1 and 2, respectively). In both experiments, the decrease in ash-free dry matter was the highest at Hamerské louky. The lowest decrease in ash-free dry matter was in the mined part of Červené blato peatbog. In the second experiment the decrease of the ashless dry matter was more noticable, which was caused by the prolonged exposure. The lowest decrease of ash-free dry matter was found in depths of 0 - 10 cm below the soil surface at all the sites.

The use of coherent risk measures in operational risk modeling

The debate on quantitative operational risk modeling has only started at the beginning of the last decade and the best-practices are still far from being established. Estimation of capital requirements for operational risk under Advanced Measurement Approaches of Basel II is critically dependent on the choice of risk measure, which quantifies the risk exposure based on the underlying simulated distribution of losses. Despite its well-known caveats Value-at-Risk remains a predominant risk measure used in the context of operational risk management. We describe several serious drawbacks of Value-at-Risk and explain why it can possibly lead to misleading conclusions. As a remedy we suggest the use of coherent risk measures - and namely the statistic known as Expected Shortfall - as a suitable alternative or complement for quantification of operational risk exposure. We demonstrate that application of Expected Shortfall in operational loss modeling is feasible and produces reasonable and consistent results. We also consider a variety of statistical techniques for modeling of underlying loss distribution and evaluate extreme value theory framework as the most suitable for this purpose. Main task of this thesis is to create a gallery of architecture, design and contemporary art in close proximity of Brno ring road - on the edge of the historic city center. My proposal makes available part of the plot for the next townhouse and concentrates mass in a thin, high box, which is well accessible to the public. Showrooms are located on the top floors. Below them I placed block of workshops communicating with the street space. The entrance area leads into an atrium that divides the gallery into two parts. In this area, the interaction of all visitors takes place .

The first part of this dissertation, entitled Exchange Rate Exposure Management, addressed the question whether there has been a relationship between changes in exchange rate volatility and financial results of Czech enterprises and therefore foreign exchange exposure management is justified. For this purpose, the empirical data of revenues and exports and imports in CZ-NACE sections were used. Statistically significant results were demonstrated in the Section C - Manufacturing, where it was confirmed that profitability of sales declines with increasing volatility of the exchange rate. The nominal exchange rate CZK/EUR was taken into consideration, while a recent thesis (Klecka, 2016) showed that the use of another type of the exchange rate does not provide a statistically significant difference. In the second part a simple model called Estart was created in order to quantify the maximum impact of unexpected exchange rate changes in the profitability of a company and thus in order to start with the management of the exchange rate exposure. The formula for calculating exchange rate exposure is simple and requires only a few inputs as company total revenues, total expenses, the percentage of revenues in foreign currency and the percentage of expenditure in foreign currency. In order to quantify the maximum impact recommended percentage variations dependent on the time horizon were determined from the historical data of the exchange rate CZK/EUR. The company then receives initial information about the maximum impact of unexpected exchange rate change on their profitability and hence for example the potential maximum amount that makes sense to invest in exchange rate hedging. The model is also suitable for calculating the maximum impact for the specific payables and receivables. The Model Estart is for its simplicity usable particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises, which currently begin to address the question of the impact of exchange rate change on their profitability for example because of announcements of Czech National Bank concerning the end of the intervention that has been depreciating domestic currency since 2013 and also the complicated situation in the Eurozone. The next necessary step is to use more sophisticated methods in accordance with the principles of foreign exchange rate exposure management in order to quantify the impact of unexpected changes in the exchange rate on the profitability, respectively on the value of the company, mainly because of the management of the operational exposure, which is crucial and which is not addressed by this simple model.
