The influence of birth order on social pathological phenomena and risky behavior
Polienko, Arina ; Kuba, Radim (advisor) ; Daňková, Hana (referee)
This thesis focuses on the influence of birth order on social pathological phenomena and risky behavior. It describes the theory of birth order and emphasizes its evolutionary-biological assumptions. The main goal of the thesis is to summarize existing knowledge about the relationship of birth order with selected socially unacceptable phenomena. It compares the diverse results of scientific studies and assumes possible causal mechanisms of the dynamics observed in them. It points to understudied areas that require further investigation. In these areas, the thesis tries to predict theoretically possible indirect dependence through other factors that are connected with the theory of birth order. It points to the importance for research of such aspects of birth order theory as the age spacing and gender of siblings. This thesis should serve as a theoretical basis for further research of the issue.

Influence of birth order and sex of siblings on sexual behavior and preferences
Daňková, Hana ; Kuba, Radim (advisor) ; Krejčová, Lucie (referee)
Ontogeny of a human being is influenced by several innate and environmental factors. One of the key environmental factors is family, its structure, and the dynamics of family relationships. These can depend, among other things, on the birth order. Relatively a lot of research has been conducted to study the effect of birth order on humans, but the area of human sexuality is often neglected. Research in this area has so far yielded relatively inconsistent results and needs to be expanded further with new knowledge. That is the main goal of this diploma thesis. In our cross-sectional study, 4495 subjects from two-child families were analyzed. We performed a partial correlation analysis of birth order and selected variables related to human sexuality, considering the sex of siblings. Particular attention was paid to the first sexual experience, the number of sexual partners, sociosexual orientation (SOI-R), and dominant-submissive sexual preferences. We found that the order of birth is related to several of these variables (age of first sexual experience, number of sexual partners, sexual preferences), but the key role is played by the combination of the individual's gender and the sex of his sibling. These results should be followed up by more detailed research within specific families to verify the...
Family constellation and its influence on human sexuality

The focus of this thesis is on the influence of sibling constellation on human sexuality. It concentrates especially on the influence of the birth order on sexual strategy, mate choice, sexual orientation and sexual onset of adolescents. It contains a comprehensive overview of the studies that have been carried out in this field, including the general trends and their possible causes. At the same time, it highlights the lack of attention to the insufficiently explored areas that should be exporated in the future. The introductory chapters also provide a brief summary of the findings of sibling constellations and human sexuality.

The data and codes are obtained by summary in interviews according to required categories. These data are compared with theoretical basis and then they are formed to answers to research questions. The conclusions of research established that in investigated areas sibling constellations are influenced. The influence comes from the individual dispositions of each of the respondent. Horký, Dominik ; Kuba, Radim (advisor) ; Tureček, Petr (referee)
This thesis concentrates on sibling constellations and its influence on IQ. Its goal is to sort different approaches to the topic, compare different studies and suggest new methods of research of this topic. There have been a lot of studies made about this topic but most of them give different, if not contradictory results. Some studies are long-term whereas other study the subjects only once or short-term. This can be one of the causes for different results in the topic of sibling constellations and IQ. This thesis should serve as a theoretical base for future research.

Mačugová, Radka ; Květoňová, Lea (advisor) ; Mužáková, Monika (referee)
The diploma thesis focuses on the research of sibling constellations and other specifics in relation of healthy siblings and physically disadvantaged, particularly for persons with multiple sclerosis, which at the time of the disease for at least some time have not lived in the common household. The research using interviews with respondents is subsequently analyzed from two points of view, both in terms of healthy individuals to disadvantaged and disadvantaged in terms of the healthy. The goal is to specify different views of the both siblings if they are different, which is expected and other peculiarities of their relationship. Then the analysis follows the trends that are present in the relationship of these people. Research will precede acquaintance with issues of multiple sclerosis, especially its potential impact on psychosocial relations and the issue of the relationship between the average healthy adult siblings. The conclusions confirmed details on the specific consistent with the literature, but pronounced tendency in these relationships were not observed, the disease does not significantly affect relationships, which we believe is influenced mainly by the current state of the respondents, who are all stable and mostly take place everyday activities. The influence of family constellation on education considering age-gap and gender of siblings
Kuba, Radim ; Flegr, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Havlíček, Jan (referee)
Biological and social factors determines human personality. Birth order and its influence rank among strong phenotype forming factors. Practical application of the knowledge is complicated due the lack of evidence in this area in the Czech Republic. In our study, we focused on the role of age-gap between siblings and the role of gender on the birth order in education. Proportion of firstborns in various group of biology students were analysed. We found significantly higher proportions of firstborns than expected. The results were compared to the sample from the years 1990-1995. A small decrease in firstborns representation is observed. We also find big influence of gender and age-gap between siblings on the effects. Decrease in age-gaps increases the proportion of firstborns. Similar effects were found in personality traits data. Our study is unfortunately limited due to small numbers of participants. We suggest replication of our results and further testing of the effects.
