Šmejc, Martin ; Tejchman, Miroslav (advisor) ; Šesták, Miroslav (referee)
Martin Šmejc Abstract: "Conception of reconstruction of Yugoslavia after WW II." The topic "Conception of reconstruction of Yugoslavia after WW II." covers three different phenomena. The most important factor, that determined the development of Yugoslavia during the WW II., was the coming to power of the communist Partisans led by Josip Broz Tito. Their vision of Yugoslavia's reconstruction after the war was defined during the second session of the AVNOJ in Bosnian town Jajce in November 1943. How should according to those visions reconstructed Yugoslavia look like is one of the research questions this thesis is going to answer. The second phenomenon touches upon the conceptions of Yugoslavia's reconstruction by the royal Yugoslav governments in exile. Their project was quite as important as of the Partisans. Their importance resides in the fact that until March 1945, when a united government of Royalists and Partisans based on Tito-Šubašić agreement was created, the government in exile were considered as the only legitimate representatives of Yugoslavia. The third analyzed phenomenon is the impact of the three Allied powers on the situation of Yugoslavia until 1948. The third question posed in this analysis will determine the scope of influence of the USA, UK and USSR on the development of Yugoslavia -...

The subject of this thesis is to assess the work of Pavel Janák, a former chief architect at the Prague castle, who is utterly connected with the period of major modifications and reconstruction at the Prague castle during the years of his architectural supervision in 1936 to 1955. Therefore the main emphasis is to focus on suggested period when Pavel Janák realized several of his major renovations. Studied period gives the author an opportunity to explore Janák's seldom approach to monumental preservation that was closely linked to his professional life. Hence this thesis also demonstrates to what extent the interest in monumental preservation influenced Janák's approach to conservation of historical monuments and architecture as such. Having closely studied available materials and documents from archives, the aim of this thesis is to map Janák's professional life during his residence at Prague castle. Eventually the author elaborates how the relation to monumental preservation changed during Janák's life.

Jiří Hanuš ABSTRACT: The thesis is devoted to the development of architecture from its early beginnings until its importance of an artistic style and its interpretation in the work of ing.arch. Petr Fabián, one of the most significant architects dealing with revitalizations and reconstructions of historical buildings in the Czech Republic, mainly in the Olomouc region, notably in the towns of Olomouc, Šumperk and Zábřeh. Judgement of most of the population on the architecture of buildings is mostly based on the fact whether they like it or no. For those who understand this branch more, the works of Petr Fabián provide the unique example of high architectural quality. His works reflect his persistence, refined style and theoretical knowledge gained during his studies at the Faculty of Architecture of VUT in Brno, under the supervision of prof. Helena Zemánková. One of the aims of the thesis is to present the architecture as the artistic and philosophical phenomenon of the past, present and future. Parts of the thesis deal with transformations of some of the works Ing. arch. Petr Fabián was working on and his goals to follow the needs of...

Subfossil Cladocera as a powerful tool for paleoecological reconstruction
Bubenková, Anna ; Tátosová, Jolana (advisor) ; Kopalová, Kateřina (referee)
This bachelor thesis is a literature review documenting the usage of subfossil Cladocera in paleoecological reconstruction. Its aim is to argue for subfossil Cladocera as an effective means of studying historical evolution of lakes and identifying significant processes which formed them over time. Furthemore, this literature review critically evaluates some of the most common approaches to reconstructing changes in climate, water levels, acidification, and eutrophication, and numerous issues they often encouter. The correct interpretation is vital because all the factors in the aquatic environment are connected. Despite some debate, subfossil Cladocera are an important aspect of paleoecological reconstructions with much possible utilization in future research. Key words: subfossil Cladocera, paleoecology, reconstruction

1 English abstract: Villa Müller versus Villa Tugendhat - A Comparison of Two Different Restoration Projects of Modernist Buildings. The work compares two successful restorations of interwar Czechoslovak avant-garde buildings realized between 1995 and 2012. At first, the respective histories of both buildings are compared since their creation through two totalitarian regimes up to their restoration. The fates of builders and architects of both villas are also described. From the point of view of historic preservation the work describes the state of both buildings before the commencement of restoration. The errors committed by the original designers are also described here. The methodology of restoration of both villas stemming from the professional points of view and relevant laws governing heritage protection is also treated in detail. The emphasis is given on preparation works preceding the design phase - the historic-structural survey, which, in both cases, was conceived as above-standard. Due to their span, these surveys have marked a key moment in relation to the modern cultural heritage within the Czech context. In the last part of the work links and comparisons are given to similar modern cultural heritage objects abroad. The work also documents the influence these two restorations have had on...
