Svatá Hora and Bohosudov in Baroque Graphic
Műllerová, Marie ; Oulíková, Petra (advisor) ; Štěrbová, Daniela (referee)
The main theme of this bachelor thesis is graphic depictions of Svatá Hora and Bohosudov, that were made in the 17th and 18th century. Administered by Society of Jesus, these Marian pilgrimage sites played its role during the huge recatholization after the Battle of White Mountain. Graphic depictions seem to be the signs of pilgrims devotion, as they worshiped miracle Madonna, objects of worship, and, simultaneously, very important part of Bohemia graphic printmaking. According to the vedutas, it is possible to watch the development of an architecture through the 17th and 18th century. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to collect graphic depictions mentioned above and make the catalog of them. Key words Baroque Graphic, pilgrimage, Society of Jesus, veduta, Svatá Hora near Příbram, Bohosudov near Krupka
Koclířov by Svitavy: pilgrimage place of (inter)national importance in a secularized state
Jančík, Jiří ; Havlíček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Kučera, Zdeněk (referee)
In the masters dissertation Koclířov by Svitavy, a place of Marian pilgrimage, is presented as a lively seat of the Czech-Moravian Fatima, the national centre of Fatima Apostolate in the Czech Republic, a unique phenomenon within the universal Catholic Church. The centre of pilgrimage was established in 1995, hence it is relatively new. Pilgrims from all over Czechia as well as foreign pilgrims come here to enjoy its unique spiritual atmosphere. The centre offers a wide range of services including a traditional monastic cake shop and Shepherd shop offering devotional articles. Spiritual seminars held here once a month, every first Saturday, are particularly popular among the pilgrims. Serene monastery complex offers many sights and invites to quiescence. A Holy Gate opened by Mons. Jan Vokál, bishop of Hradec Králové diocese, in April 2016 in the frame of the Holy Year of Mercy is yet another unique feature of the place of pilgrim. Thus Koclířov has become one of the important church centres as this privilege is usually given only to cathedrals and minsters of particular dioceses. The Czech-Moravian Fatima in Koclířov will coordinate a wide range of festivities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of apparition the Virgin Mary in Fatima in Portugal in 2017. Number of Czech dioceses and their parishes...

Fabulous Land of Shambhala
Hanker, Martin ; Berounský, Daniel (advisor) ; Vokurková, Zuzana (referee)
The myth of Shambhala shelters trandemously wide rande of symbols, which moved it towards new contexts of imagination and events, that augment its traditional purpose and sense. Indigenous contours of eschatological and utopistic archetypes are covered by new layers of interpretations, so the aim is to reveal the mythical roots via stepwise purification. After getting familiar with available materials, a prezentation of a development of the mythical images takes its place, based on publications referring to the primary sources. Main ideas are here introduced within corresponding areas slightly deeper. Following part interpretates some key elements of the myth and their wider context according to the secondary sources. Third chapter presents the role of Occident in connection with Shambhala as a oriental element, which we are still trying to understand in the propriate way. Some other western phenomenas are briefly described in the end too, because they are closely related to the issue of Shambhala in the West, but deeper focus on them is not the goal of this thesis. Pavlíčková, Barbora ; Topolovská, Tereza (advisor) ; Chalupský, Petr (referee)
This MA thesis is focused on discovering the literary motif of journey in selected works defined by Australia. These works also share the interest in shaping Australian identity. A socio-historical background of colonisation and the first settlement in Australia is provided and the key terms of cultural anthropology are further elaborated on. The thesis depicts traditional Aboriginal culture and focuses especially on its earthbound philosophy. Special attention is paid to the differences among various literary approaches towards the subject matter, to the application of cultural anthropology findings, to the depiction of clashes between different cultures and possibilities of their reconciliation. Furthermore, the works of selected authors are closely characterised from the point of view of their degree of authenticity and the genre specifics. Various treatments of the literary motif of journey are compared and critically analysed. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
