Problems in mutual communication of teachers and parents of children with Specific developmental disorders of scholastic skills and Hyperkinetic Disorder
ČECHOVÁ, Kateřina
This diploma thesis deals with the topic regarding communication problems between teachers and parents of children with Specific developmental disorders of scholastic skills and Hyperkinetic Disorder at a particular elementary school. The aim of the thesis is to examine both inefficient and efficient processes in communication between a teacher and a parent of a child with specific learning and behavioral disabilities and to create an outline of a set of steps to achieve effective communication. Another goal is to determine the influence of the teacher's inclusive setting on the willingness to solve problems. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part deals with the characteristics and etiology of specific learning and behavioral disorders. The classification of these disorders is included. On top of that, the theoretical part focuses on cooperation and communication between the family and the school. The communication errors and barriers as well as effective approaches are described. The less common or alternative means of cooperation are discussed as well. The practical part focuses on analyzing the collected data and summarizing the research results. Qualitative research was chosen to fulfill the goal. Two variants of semi-structured interviews were created for the data collection - for class teachers and for parents of children with specific learning and behavioral disabilities. The results of the research indicate that the key factor responsible for functional communication is setting up a system of cooperation between all involved. Mutual willingness to cooperate, sufficient feedback, equal approach, interest and effort are all important. The teacher's attitude towards a child with specific learning or behavioral disabilities, which is perceived by the parents as a complete contradiction and is often dominated by significant dissatisfaction, plays a significant role. The problem of different opinions of the school and the school counseling facility on working with children with specific learning and behavioral disabilities arose from the research. From the parents'point of view it often appears that the school does not sufficiently implement the support measures. Some negative aspects related to the school as a whole, not to specific respondents.
Nové možnosti a technologie ve výrobě piva
Čechová, Kateřina
The bachelor thesis is focused on new ways of using raw materials in the brewing in-dustry and new innovations. The theoretical part mentions basic raw materials for beer production, special types of malt, solid adjuncts from other raw materials, especially pseudocereals, liquid adjuncts, various methods of processing hops and new proce-dures or new equipment in beer production. Also the principle of production of Czech beer and European beer is compared. In the second part, the possibility of using star-chy surrogates was investigated. A recipe was created using buckwheat and then the sensory profile of the beer was created. From the obtained results, it was found that the addition of buckwheat negatively affected the sensory properties of the beer, which was reflected in the negative evaluation of both aroma and taste.
Respite care for people with autism spectrum disorder
ČECHOVÁ, Kateřina
This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of respite care for people with disorders within the autism spectrum. The aim of this work is to emphasize the importance of this service, to raw near the content, the process, and the principles used to make the respite stay acceptable for clients with these diseases. This work is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theory deals with characteristics, current approach, and terminology of autism spectrum disorders. Furthermore, it includes the etiology and triad of problematic areas as well as other symptomatic of ASD. It touches upon the diagnostics and classification of these diseases. It also deals with the families of children suffering from an autism spectrum disorder, the social services law, respite care and it includes general information about the organization of APLA Jižní Čechy, z.ú., where I conducted the survey research for the practical part of this work. The aim of the practical part of this bachelor thesis is to point out the importance and the principle of respite care targeting its contents, use, and the availability of lightning services for individuals with ASD. In order to achieve the goal, I chose qualitative research. To collect data, I created four versions of semistructured interviews - for clients with ASD, parents of the clients, personal assistants of respite care, and the service manager of APLA Jižní Čechy, z.ú. A part of the data collection was direct and involved observation during stays conducted on the premises of a Psychiatric hospital in Opařany. The survey research arises that respite care for people with autism spectrum disorder is very important, significant, and beneficial, nonetheless, it is not very widespread. The functionality of respite stays is built on an individual, equal, and empathic approach, communication, and cooperation among all participants.
Crisis intervention via electronic communication (on-line chat, on-line videochat)
Čechová, Kateřina ; Havránková, Olga (advisor) ; Lišková, Kateřina (referee)
This diploma disertation deals with the topic of on-line crisis intervention (KI further on in the text) in the Czech Republic (CR), specifically the service functioning of the online chat and videochat. This topic has not been paid attention to so far. The topic concerned is a rather new service area which provides service to the clients in a difficult situation on the internet and which has been working for past few years in a few KI centres (workplaces). No professional has tried to search it systematically or describe it in more detail yet. Considering the fact the internet is a widely used medium in our population nowadays, a high future potential of these services can be expected in the field of psychosociology. Therefore this diploma disertation aims to give a detailed description of the on-line chat and videochat functioning and necessary connections at KI centres (workplaces) in order to create a quidebook to the basics of these services for specialists and amateurs who are interested in this topic. Secondly, this diploma disertation is written to inform about the process of implementing the on-line chat into KI centres (workplaces) at three contemporary providers in CR, and to make the readers understand what the whole process is about. At the same time, this is to compile all the data for a...
The role of aging and stress in autophagy
Čechová, Kateřina ; Vrajová, Monika (advisor) ; Valeš, Karel (referee)
Autophagy is a nonspecific catabolic mechanism, important for maintaining the cellular homeostasis. Stress condition can increase the activity and support the cell survival. It is well known that normal and pathological aging are associated with a reduced autophagic potential and that experimental induction of autophagy leads to higher longevity of certain model organisms. This decreasing may be facilitated by other factors, such as chronic stress. Higher age and chronic stress are two factors contributing to the development of neurodegenerative diseases, in this context the mechanism of autophagy is now actively studied. We wanted to know if and how the combination of these two factors may influence the activity of autophagy. In our study, we investigated the role of aging and chronic stress, induced by social isolation in Wistar rats at the age of 6 (N= 16) and 12 (N= 16) months. The animals in experimental groups were separated in the individual cages for 4 weeks. Control groups animals were housed in the pair. We measured the markers of autophagy expression (Beclin-1, LC3-II, mTOR) in the hippocampus and striatum of socially isolated and control groups animals. We measured the expression of NMDA receptor subunits (NR1, NR2A, NR2B) in the hippocampus of the same animals. Our results showed that older...
The role of biofluid biomarkers in the differential diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases
Katonová, Alžbeta ; Čechová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Mrózková, Petra (referee)
Until recently, the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases was dependent only on clinical expression, the definitive confirmation of which was possible only post- mortem. Currently, biofluid biomarkers represent a reliable source for the diagnosis of serious neurodegenerative diseases already during the patient's lifetime. The identification of reliable biomarkers is essential for increasing diagnostic accuracy, monitoring the clinical condition, more precise selection of individuals for clinical trials and the associated development of causal treatment. The aim of the bachelor's thesis was to conduct a thorough literature review focusing on clinically and experimentally used biological markers in the diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases and their role in the pathophysiology of these diseases. Key words: Neurodegenerative diseases, biomarkers, proteinopathies, neurocognitive impairment, cognition
The impact of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) gene polymorphism and BDNF levels for prediction, diagnosis and follow-up of cognitive deficit in neurodegenerative diseases
Čechová, Kateřina ; Hort, Jakub (advisor) ; Telenský, Petr (referee) ; Rektorová, Irena (referee)
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a slowly progressing neurodegenerative disease characterized by an extracellular accumulation of senile plaques and intracellular neurofibrillary tangles. Apart from these hallmarks, AD is very heterogeneous, especially at the age of onset and the rate of progression. Genetic polymorphisms are key modulators influencing these factors. One of them is a polymorphism for the Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a neurotrophin involved in the synaptic plasticity in the hippocampus and medial temporal lobe structures, areas primarily affected in AD. The thesis aimed to investigate the effect of BDNF Va66Met polymorphism together with the main genetic risk factor for sporadic AD, Apolipoprotein E (APOE) polymorphism, on cognitive functions and structural brain changes. We have shown that the combination of risk alleles BDNF Met and APOE ɛ4 is associated with more severe impairment in episodic memory, egocentric orientation and smaller volumes of medial temporal lobe structures in individuals with amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI), and allocentric orientation in cognitively unimpaired individuals compared to non-carriers. These findings suggest that carriers of the combination of BDNF Met and APOE ɛ4 have a higher risk of progression to more severe disease stages,...

Transformace centrálních nádraží: Záznam komplexní znalosti
Čechová, Kateřina
Large scale urban regeneration projects of central railway stations are considered to be extremely complex. The description and analysis of such projects and the formation of their complexity is becoming difficult as knowledge becomes fragmented among various professionals and “lost” in the course of a decades-long process. Nevertheless, this knowledge is essential for keeping track of the project over long periods of times and might prove useful when such a project is encountered for the first time in any given environment. Such is the case with Prague and Brno railway stations’ regeneration projects, that might draw inspiration from similar projects currently being undertaken in London (King’s Cross) and Vienna (Hauptbahnhof).
