The Effect of temperature treatment TiO2 nanoparticles on antibacterial properties
Bytesnikova, Z. ; Valeckova, V. ; Švec, P. ; Richtera, L. ; Šmerková, K. ; Vítek, Petr ; Adam, V.
The synthesis of TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) under various temperature treatments was described and TiO2 NPs was subsequently tested as an antibacterial agent. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Raman spectroscopy, Dynamic light scattering (DLS) were used to confirm structure of TiO2 NPs and detect differences between individual batches treated with different temperature. Antibacterial properties were tested on Escherichia coli (E. coli). TiO2 NPs as photocatalyst was incubated with bacterial cells under ambient light. Changes in temperature treatment can affect diameter size and crystal structure of TiO2 NPs as well as its antibacterial properties.
Extreme environment of the Atacama Desert: Geology, Extremophiles, and its connection to Exobiology
Jíra, Stanislav ; Culka, Adam (advisor) ; Vítek, Petr (referee)
Because of the position in the subtropical climate belt, high altitudes, cold Humboldt Current, Andean rain-shadow, and a few other factors, the Atacama Desert is known for its hyper-arid conditions which are persisting here for a few tens of millions of years. That is why this place is called the driest non-polar place in the world. Aridity is present here since Mesozoic. Because of these conditions, Atacama was thought to be completely inhabitable and inappropriate for any life forms. Despite all the limiting factors, microbial life here exists. Microorganisms have created adaptations in the forms of specialized metabolisms, proteins, and most importantly in form of photoprotective pigments. Except for the structural mechanisms, extremophiles can choose a strategy of living evaporitic minerals, which are quite common in Atacama. For understanding these forms of life many scientific methods are used, for example Raman spectroscopy. Methods that are used here are often used also in extraterrestrial conditions, mainly on the planet Mars, which shares with Atacama few similarities (e.g., some evaporitic minerals). The study of adaptations and capabilities of extremophilic microorganisms can help to broaden the knowledge and understanding of how incredibly resilient life is. Keywords: The Atacama...
Forging measurement using passive stereo vision
Vítek, Petr ; Mendřický, Radomír (referee) ; Hurník, Jakub (advisor)
The measurement of forgings in the hot state allows for the adjustment of their dimensions and shape, which increases the efficiency of the production process, energy savings and less technological additions of material. A possible alternative to conventional approaches for measuring hot forgings is the application of passive stereovision, which is the focus of this paper. The objectives are to determine the accuracy of this approach with respect to conventional conditions, to highlight the scale structure for the detection of significant points and to select a method for surface detection and reconstruction. The proposed method allows surface reconstruction with an accuracy worse by one order of magnitude, compared to measurements under normal conditions. In a measurement volume of 0.3 m3, the standard deviation of points in the space of 0.28 mm was determined. A band-pass filter transmitting green light spectrum was chosen to represent the forging structure based on the study of spatial frequencies and experimental testing. The KAZE method achieved the highest number of detected feature points on the forging surface.
Biological determinations of cognitive disorders
Vítek, Petr ; Šivicová, Gabriela (advisor) ; Stehlík, Luděk (referee)
As a topic of my bachelor thesis I have chosen "Biological determinants of cognitive disorders". Because of the bachelor thesis' coverage I was forced to choose only two cognitive functions - memory and thinking. This work as a whole is an attempt to combine psychological theories with neurological and psychiatric knowledge which are now popular thanks to the rapid development of imaging techniques of brain. One chapter is specifically focused on their brief summary. In the beginning specific cognitive functions are circumscribed but only two of them are taken further - memory and thinking. More space is dedicated to memory because neurological research of memory is much more complex compared to thinking. My approach is similar in both cognitive functions - at first I focus on description of normal functioning and then I classify and describe specific disorders, trying to find their neurological correlations. The second part of my bachelor thesis proposes the research of episodic memory, in which I would compare differences in its distortions from both neurological and neuropsychological perspective. Patients with delusions, pseudologia fantastica and patients with often confabulations are the target group. I tried to create as realistic design as possible. However I realize its financial...
Design of the tribometr frame by casting technology
Vítek, Petr ; Frýza, Josef (referee) ; Košťál, David (advisor)
This Bachelor´s Thesis presents an engineering design of cast frame for simulator of elastohydrodynamic contact. Original frame is folded from machined parts, which limits shaping and increases the cost of production. Through the analysis of the current state and applicable foundry technologies has been developed design for new cast frame. The output is accompanying report and drawing documentation. The accompanying report documents the prototype production process.
Phenomenon of White
Vítek, Petr ; KRÁLOVÁ, Andrea (advisor) ; SMOLÍK, Robert (referee)
This diploma thesis describes the phenomenon of white color from the Western world’s culture context point of view. The search for white color in fine arts and white color as an expression and an art tool in the theater is the main topic of this thesis. I play with functions of the color in the theater in a way it can appear completely non-theatrical due to the theatrical convention, and yet, it is still widely used nowadays. On the other hand, however, in art, white has become a conventional color in the gallery space of the 20th century. In the practical part of the thesis, I reflect two theater projects, in which I participated as a scenographer in the DISK theater. I am looking for white leitmotifs in the projects and whether you can talk about the motive that represents my creative handwriting.
Business plan of the coworking center
Jedličková, Kristýna ; Vrzáček, Petr (advisor) ; Vítek, Petr (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the phenomenon of shared economy and describes it both on a wide scale and in specific sectors of its use in the social and health sphere. This trend inspired the introduction of a co-working concept to the market which is also described in the theoretical part of the thesis. The theoretical framework of the diploma thesis follows the practical part consisting of interviews with the founder of a co-working centre in Finland, with the executive director of a co-working centre in the Czech Republic, and with two users who have experience with this service in our country and abroad. Qualitative data from semi- structured interviews was a source in the creation of a business plan for the co-working centre, which is the aim of the diploma thesis. At the end of the diploma thesis, there is a shortened methodological guideline for establishing a co-working space. Keywords: shared economy, sharing, co-working, digitization, health and social services, desk
Design of fast magnetorheological damper piston group using selective laser melting technology
Vítek, Petr ; Růžička, Bronislav (referee) ; Strecker, Zbyněk (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the development of the magnetic circuit of Magnetoreological (MR) dampers with a short time response. To achieve a short response time, a shape approach was chosen whereby the geometry of the magnetic circuit was chosen to significantly eliminate the occurrence of eddy currents. The influence of structures on magnetic properties was first examined on a simpler toroidal core and then the optimization was subjected to the magnetic circuit of the MR damper itself. Geometry optimization was done using FEM simulations. The resulting geometry was made of pure iron using Selective Laser Melting technology (SLM). In addition, a MR damper was completed and its properties on air and with MR fluid were measured, which were then compared with previously developed rapid MR dampers. It has been found that the newly designed magnetic circuit achieves similar time responses as all other compared fast MR dampers and reaches a higher dynamic range than most of the compared variants. The proposed magnetic circuit also has a significantly reduced weight.
