Holub, Tomáš ; Bahbouh, Radvan (advisor) ; Šípek, Jiří (referee)
(in English) The thesis explores decision making in creative artistic process in adults. The aim of this study is to determine what and how the adults reflect during an art activity and its aftermath, as well as what other phenomena occur in the creative process. The theoretical part is divided into four parts. The first section deals with decision making - the terminology and the three theories of intuitive decision making. The second part presents basic knowledge about creativity. The third part deals with the creative process and its models. The fourth one describes two methods used in the research. The empirical part consists of qualitative and quantitative research. The qualitative research was conducted using a semi-structured interview with 14 adults, who drew on stimulus matrix - scribbling, which was created for this purpose. The objective of the qualitative research was to map the decision making in the given activity. The purpose of the quantitative research was to compare the used scribbling method with the Torrance Figural Test of Creative Thinking. The results of both surveys are described in detail and discussed with the available literature. The conclusion of the thesis offers recommendations on the use of the collected data and possible further research on this topic. Klíčová slova...

Mikulová, Hana ; Bahbouh, Radvan (advisor) ; Šípek, Jiří (referee)
This work focuses on summarizing suspected and proven links between personality traits and health. First we recapitulate various theories linking personality traits and health - Type A personality, optimism, pessimism, five-factor model of personality, self-esteem, self-efficacy and more. Next we concentrate on the perception of this connection with doctors through interviews on the topic of "personality and health" in the empirical part. In the empirical part semi-structured interviews with doctors on the topic of "personality and health" were used to observe how doctors themselves percieve this connection. The aim is to find out where the doctors find that connection while working with their patients and how they use it in their medical practice. Keywords: personality, health, disease, medical practice
Magical Thinking Test
Kadrnožková, Lucie ; Bahbouh, Radvan (advisor) ; Šípek, Jiří (referee)
This M.A. thesis deals with the topic of magical thinking in the adult population. The theoretical section of the thesis summarizes the existing findings in regard to the theory and research of magical thinking. The empirical section is dedicated to the development and subsequent validation of the new testing method devised to measure inclinations to magical thinking. Proving the method's validity is firstly aimed at gathering convergent proofs based on the relations towards methods measuring similar constructs, the external criterion being the Revised Paranormal Belief Scale (RPBS) and the subscale of Esoteric and Personal Superstitious Thinking of the Contrastive Thinking Inventory (CTI). The second part of the research focuses on the validity proofs gathered in relation to the categorical variable - group affiliation - where we test a selective collection of the general public against a selection of technical and natural scientists and a selection of people attending courses with esoteric content. The research results confirm the method's reliability based on the split-half method and they also confirm a high coefficient of inner consistence of Cronbach's alpha. The results of the validation study show a strong correlation between the research inventory and selected scales of the CTI method as...

Schautová, Nina ; Bahbouh, Radvan (advisor) ; Blatný, Marek (referee) ; Lewicka, Maria (referee)
The goal of this work is to provide an overview of new trends in the research of decision-making, as well as offer practical guidelines for the practice of decision-making based on up-to-date knowledge. Theoretical part offers an overview of current developments and efforts in decision-making along with a critical perspective on the limited view of decision-making. I offer a new perspective on the purpose and goals of research in the area of decision-making with the aim to improve not only objective results of decision-making, but also overall well-being. I also revitalize intuition as a valid strategy for decision- making. Empirical part presents three research studies, which focus on various aspects of this new approach to decision-making. First focuses on time decisions, which are, unlike financial decisions, almost uncovered by decisional research. Second research builds on current work of D. Ariely and D. Gilbert and supports their thesis, that commitment plays a key role in decisional satisfaction. Last research maps our self- perception in decision-making and how it relates to our well-being. Thematically, the work is divided into theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part deals with issues related to the nature of work and the importance of work in human life. It clarifies the traditional motives that encourage a person to perform a paid work in order to better understand the consequences of its loss. It provides insight into the legislative framework of employment termination with focus on the types of termination, which in fact represent dismissals. These data are followed by text that introduces the reasons for which the employee can be dismissed, since these reasons play an important role in next phases of dismissal. Since the dismissal of workers (although it may have positive benefits for the organization) is less popular HR activity among the performers and it could be very traumatic for leaving employees, it is common to prevent it by HR planning or through incentives for voluntary departures. These potentialities are characterized more in detail in next passage. The role of the Human Resources department and senior staff during dismissals...
