Štěpánková, Jana ; Abraham, Karel (referee) ; Dufek, Zdeněk (referee) ; Klaban,, Vladimír (referee) ; Puchýř, Bohumil (advisor)
The doctoral thesis deals with bankruptcy and its possible solution from the point of view of expert activities. Valuation of the company in distress may be required at different stages of the business life cycle. While sometimes the valuation is requested directly by the shareholders or the managing partners facing bankruptcy (or preventing crisis) sometimes assessment is requested in insolvency proceedings by the insolvency administrator. Whether it is the intention to find out it is more beneficial for creditors to reorganise or liquidate the assets, in all these cases it is the work of experts in the insolvency proceedings who play a decisive role. The practical part of the thesis, therefore, focuses on the selection of appropriate methodologies which can be used at any given moment of crisis management.

Štěpánková, Jana ; Franková, Martina (advisor) ; Žákovská, Karolina (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to describe the concept of the superficial principle in the valid legal regulation and its influence on land law relations. As a result of the reintroduction of the superficial principle into the legal order of the Czech Republic by Act No. 89/2012 Coll., The Civil Code, all that is associated with the earth's surface becomes part of the given land. The thesis is divided into five structured chapters. The first chapter is devoted to land law as an interdisciplinary law system. The aim of second chapter is to explain the key importance of the superficial principle within the context of land law. The third chapter deals with the historical background of the development of legal relations to immovables in the territory of the Czech lands, also including the introduction of the Roman settlement as the basis of the superficial principle. The next part of the thesis contains the interpretation of the most important legal institutes related to the superficial principle in the context of the valid law. The chapter further describes exceptions to the principle. The fifth part of the thesis is focused on the analysis of selected land law relations influenced by the superficial principle.
Figure of the Teacher in Russian Classical Literature
Štěpánková, Jana ; Hříbková, Radka (advisor) ; Hlaváček, Antonín (referee)
My bachelor's dissertation is aimed at evaluating the social status of a teacher's profession referring to Russian classical literature. The introductory part deals with cultural- historical contexts of functioning of Russian education in 19th century. The main content of my work is to introduce and analyse the issue of social status of a teacher as an important creator of children's personality mainly according to the book The little demon by F. Sologub and short stories by A. P. Čechov. Comparing the two mentionened works and other literary references the dissertation is trying to confirm or disprove the hypothesis that the profession of a teacher in Russian literature is seen as one of the most important jobs whose aim is to educate the future generation so that it is profitable for itself and for the society. The thesis concludes that teacher figures were portrayed predominantly in a negative manner. Authoritative attitude towards the children was often intensified by the teacher's alcoholism and resulted in the pupils being physically punished on a daily basis.
Chivalry in Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales"
Malá Štěpánková, Jana ; Znojemská, Helena (advisor) ; Čermák, Jan (referee)
1 Thesis abstract The thesis is concerned with the reflection of chivalry and chivalric culture in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales and with the relation of his testimony to the social reality of the late Middle Ages. Chapter 1 introduces the chosen topic in relation to the specific character of the Tales, of the context of the period, and of Chaucer's life. It specifies the aim of the thesis, deals with its limitations, and outlines the criteria and the structure of the analysis. Chapter 2 presents the origin and the development of the knight along with the formation of the code of chivalric virtues and the literary constituent of the phenomenon of chivalry until the end of the fourteenth century and identifies two fundamental chivalric archetypes in the characters of the Knight and the Squire from "The Prologue". Chapter 3 pursues manifestations of chivalry throughout the Tales across genres except romances and analyses their reflection with respect to the narrators of the tales. The analysis first focuses on the chivalrousness of the knightly characters (The Franklin's Tale, The Physician's Tale, The Manciple's Tale, The Monk's Tale, The Clerk's Tale, The Man of Law's Tale, The Merchant's Tale) and then on the signs of the influence of chivalric virtues and culture on the non-knightly characters (The Miller's...
Intertextuality in academic writing: citation in soft and hard sciences
Štěpánková, Jana ; Malá, Markéta (advisor) ; Šaldová, Pavlína (referee)
Based on a corpus analysis of 72 research articles, this thesis examines citation practices in four academic disciplines, two soft (linguistics and art history) and two hard (biology and astronomy). The first part provides quantitative results for the usage of two basic types, integral and non-integral citation. The non-integral type is preferred mainly in biology (91%), whereas astronomy and linguistics do not show such strong preference. In art history, both types are used with similar frequencies. The second part is focused on integral citation and examines instances of its sub-types (verb-controlling, naming and non-citation). The third part analyses the distribution of citations in the individual sections of research articles which shows to be dependent on the structural organization of the article. In general, two tendencies have been found: in articles with IMRD structure (biology and linguistics), citations occur mainly in the introduction and discussion. In astronomy and art history, citations are almost evenly distributed across the text. The last part of this thesis is focused on reporting verbs and their semantic classification (research, cognitive and discourse acts). Astronomy shows strong preference for research acts verbs, whilst biology employs this type only slightly more often...
Characterization of flubendazol reduction in human in vitro
Štěpánková, Jana ; Szotáková, Barbora (advisor) ; Novotná, Eva (referee)
ASBSTRACT Charles University Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Biochemical Sciences Candidate: Mgr. Jana Štěpánková Supervisor: Prof. Ing. Barbora Szotáková, Ph.D. Title of Thesis: Characterization of flubendazol reduction in human in vitro Flubendazole (FLU) is an anthelmintic of the benzimidazole type used as a treatment or prophylaxis of helminthoses in livestock and wild animals. FLU is also registered for the treatment of parasitic diseases caused by intestinal nematodes in humans. Its mechanism of action lies in its specific binding to tubulin, which disrupts the structure and function of microtubules for the therapy of parasitosis in humans. The advantage of this drug is also the low systemic toxicity. That is why the anticancer activity of FLU is now under study. The aim of this rigorous work was to characterize the reduction of FLU in human liver subcellular fractions as this information is still lacking in available literature. Stereospecificity, subcellular localization, preference of coenzymes, enzyme kinetics of FLU reduction, and activity of enzymes involved in FLU reduction were studied in this project. Measurement results have shown that FLU is predominantly reduced in cytosol and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate reduced (NADPH) coenzyme is preferred. FLU...

Štěpánková, Jana ; Lorenzová, Jitka (advisor) ; Valenta, Josef (referee)
The diploma thesis is focused on the motivational and hobby potential of children's leisure activities in an orphanage with a school. It is based on the assumption that for children who have been ordered institutional education or imposed protective education, it is very important to make meaningful use of free time and a wide range of leisure activities. The work is of a theoretical-empirical nature. Its aim is to find out how the educators of a children's home with a school design the preparation for the afternoon and weekend program, so that the children can attract, develop and motivate them to make meaningful use of their free time. The partial goals are to find out how they motivate children to actively participate in programs prepared by educators and how educators evaluate the effectiveness of this motivation. The theoretical part of the work is based on an analysis of the literature and a search of research conducted on the topic. In the individual chapters, it deals in more detail with the characteristics of a children's home with a school and other facilities where children who have been ordered to have institutional or protective care are placed. It describes the reasons for placing children in this type of facility, characterizes the category of leisure time and leisure activities...
