Secretly ordained bishops in the 2nd half of the 20th century. An example of the life and work of bishop Kajetán Matoušek
Šustr, Vratislav ; Zdichynec, Jan (advisor) ; Koura, Petr (referee)
This thesis focuses on the life of the secretly consecrated Roman Catholic bishop Kajetán Matoušek. Matoušek's life to the life of others is based on their individual life stages and milestones, such as childhood, studies, or motivation to become a priest, as well as the circumstances of the secret ordination. Preserved materials about the above-mentioned bishops stored in Archiv bezpečnostních složek (Security Services Archive) were used for this thesis as well as the materials found in the Archives of the Prague Archbishopric, where are stored mainly official materials. An equally important source of information is a family archive of the Novotný family, which was related to Bishop Matoušek (the Matoušek family's male line died out with Bishop Matoušek himself), from which many photographs, but also other materials analyzed in this thesis were obtained. Finally, the so-called second parish records of the St. Adalbert parish in the New Town of Prague are considered. The...
Soloomons Daughters
Brůčková, Kamila ; Prokůpek, Tomáš (referee) ; Rathouský, Luděk (advisor)
The Solomon's daughters comic brings a new concept to the topic of witch-hunting. It is situated in the period before and during World War II, consciously working with associations with the time that is only mediated by literature and film to most people these days. Although some topics concerning humanity and cruelty are still emerging, we perceive this period with a certain distance and a comprehensive evaluation. And precisely because of how clear and familiar the facts are, we can now afford to work with the environment and that time mostly as a backdrop that offers us certain opportunities for story development and aesthetic integrity.

Hlinovská, Květoslava ; Nosek, Bedřich (advisor) ; Arava-Novotná, Lena (referee)

It maps the fate of Jews under the new circumstances that had prevailed right after the declaration of the Protectorat of Bohemia and of Moravia, on the 15th of March, 1939. In keeping with those changes according to the new political system that was forcibly implemented, new and new anti-Jewish regulations were published with a view of total displacement of Jews from society and their total liquidation in compliance with Hitler's "final solution". It emphasizes some attempts to save Jews not only by "ordinary non-aryan people", but also by the Jewish resistance and last but not least by the government in exile. This work attempts to explain what led rescuers to their actions and their motivations, including some known rescuers, such as Nicholas Winton and Přemysl Pitter.
