Contemporary methods of devising broadcasting schedules of public and commercial television

Primary aim of the bachelor thesis is to compare the program scheme of television ČT1, as a public service medium and TV Prima, as a commercial television and describe the methods used for the program scheme creation. Secondary aim is to determine circumstances on which the new shows of each TV are created and how those shows are being implemented as a part of newly devised program schemes. First part of this bachelor thesis explains main terms connected closely with the thesis theme. Specifically, those terms are: dual broadcasting system, public service TV, commercial TV, ratings, target group, audience, subculture, prime time, ads, show creation and program scheme. The aim of the following thesis part is a brief summary of each compared TV and a more complex analysis of chosen characteristics, as follows: audience, ratings and the program scheme. The theoretical part addresses the means in which ČT24 communicates in the online environment as well as the content that ČT24 publishes on its website and on social media. This part also includes information obtained on the basis of interviews. The empirical part is based on a comparative analysis of TV broadcasting posts as well as online posts. The aim of this part is to determine the effectiveness of of ČT24's communication strategy on its website and on social media. The empirical part reveals the ways in which ČT24 public broadcasting TV modifies content to reach users of these various digital platforms. The empirical part also includes a survey, which addresses the question of attractiveness of ČT24's online platforms for younger audiences.
Typology of series and programming structure of continuous broadcasting CT24

Typologie pořadu a programová struktura kontinuálního vysílání ČT24 Sára Klepáčová Annotation The aim of this thesis is to define and analyze one of the TV shows of the ČT24 news station - Studio ČT24. It is a specific type of continuous broadcast delivered by ČT24 to the viewers, as the only one in Czech republic, every day - seven days a week. In its way it is also unique among the TV shows of european public service media. Theoretical part deals with standart procedures in news broadcasting, starting with acquiring the information and its incorporation into the broadcasting script. This part contains factual notes provided by the ČT 24 news broadcast deputy editor-in-chief František Lutonský. Research aims on the structure of the show itself, particularly on the content, by means of the quantitative content analysis. It demonstrates the structure and composition of the continuous broadcast of the ČT24 news station on the sample of four whole weeks choosed from four programme periods. It also aims on the changes of broadcast composition in case of extraordinary event. in context of the viewership.
The Meaning and Role of ČT art in the Musical Life of the Czech Republic

This bachelor thesis deals with an approaching the deeper knowledge of the cultural TV channel ČT art which started its broadcasting o of August 2013 and nowadays is the one best-evaluated TV channel with the regard to the satisfaction of television viewers. The first chapter of the thesis is focused on the organizational structure of Česká televize, the council of Česká televize its statute, the codex and the ethical panel and the laws under which it is governed. The second chapter is about the origin of ČT art and the dramaturgy of its TV shows. The third chapter describes the viewing of ČT art in overall audience measurement of Česká televize as well as the viewing of the particular music programs on ČT art. The fourth chapter contains the basics overview of the budget based on Česká televize´s annual reports focusing on cultural shows and its production financial aspect including musical shows. The final chapter is dedicated to the International TV Festival Zlatá Praha which is closely connected with ČT art.
The research of biathlon among students of FTVS UK

Title: The research of biathlon vieweship among students of FTVS UK Objectives: The objective of this bachelor thesis is to provide data on the basis of marketing research about biathlon viewership among students of FTVS UK. Contribution of this thesis should be providing useful insight related to viewership and interest into biatlon for this group. This data could set a basis for a deeper reasearch in the foreseeable future. Methods: This thesis uses the method of quantitative research. The selection of the respondents was done by partially influences selection and the minimal sample size was set to at least seventy five respondents. Electronic questioning was used to collect the primary data. Results: According to the research results, nearly 86 % of the respondents had shown interest into biathlon. It was also found out, that vast majority of them has been watching biathlon races via ČT sport channel. More than 78 % of the respondents follows biathlon content on social networks. Researches public service television viewer in the Czech republic with a focus on news channel ČT24

This master thesis focuses on the typology of researches that public service broadcaster Czech television uses to analyse audience feedback - measurement of ratings, contentment and public service. The thesis describes history of TV audience researches from beginnings to the present in Czechoslovakia and the Czech republic as well as abroad. It also mentions problems that the aspiration for perfection of measurement brings. This thesis also addresses the functioning of Czech TV's Research and analysis department and brings original research focused on the influence of survey results over the scheduling of ČT24 programme. The thesis further includes interviews with Renata Týmová, chief of Research and analysis department, and Zdeněk Šámal, manager of news and sports department.
TV Viewing Habits between Generations

This thesis deals with the differences of TV viewing habits between generations. The aim is to find out how different are their viewing habits. How much time each generation spend watching television, which TV channels and TV programmes are they watching. The thesis compares generations of Baby Boomers, X, Y and Z. The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and analytical. The theoretical part contains a description of television as a mass media and describe its development. The theoretical part also characterizes the television market and the main TV stations in the Czech Republic. There are also explained terms as Ratings, ATS or Target Affinity Index. The thesis also contains a short description of television program schedules. At the end of the theoretical part are characterized generations and their characteristics. The analytical section tries to find answers to research questions. How does TV watch time vary between generations? The thesis shows that generation Baby Boomers is watching television the most, and has the biggest divergences in viewing during the week and during the year. Appropriate use of ads on ČT sport channel due to TV ratings of selected sports

Title: Appropriate use of ads on ČT sport channel due to TV ratings of selected sports Objectives: The objective of the thesis is to suggest the best ads for spectators of football, hockey, biathlon, athletics, tennis and skiing broadcasts. We will also analyse advertising that is used in the broadcasts of these sports. Methods: The theoretical part is based on the analysis of documents. Data used in the practical part was identifield through panel surfy, specifically the panel of television viewers. The data was obtained by peoplemeters. Another method that was used in practical part is observation. We observed what types of ads are applied throughout the broadcast of selected sports. Results: The result of the thesis is to recommend the most favorable commercials for each selected sport regarding the viewing public watching the sport broadcast. The other result is an analysis of current ads and their appropriateness for sports fans of the chosen sports. In the analysis, we found that the most frequent viewers of television broadcasts of selected sports are viewers at the age 60 +. The sport which is the most watched by the female audience is a biathlon. Escalation of the crisis in Greek public broadcasting television in 2013-2014

The main topic of this thesis is the functioning of the public service media, especially public service television broadcasters. After general definitions of the basic terms associated with this topic, the thesis highlights the differences between the media in the private and the public sectors, and characterizes the public service media in the previously selected European countries: the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and the Czech Republic. The choice of these particular states was based on their different economic, political and media systems. The history, the development and the crisis of the Greek public service media are subjected to a thorough analysis. Regarding the inclusion of the historical context the thesis moves onto the crisis which occurred in June 2013 due to inconsistent government interferences in the media field, which led to a suspension of the transmission of the Greek public broadcaster ERT. The practical part is dedicated to a detailed analysis of the viewership of the Greek television, focusing on the period before, during and after the crisis had occurred. The main objective of the thesis is to point out whether the government interferences had influenced the viewership of the Greek television.
Comparison of selected two competing television stations broadcasting from the 21st century, according to content focus and structure audience

The aim of the thesis is the comparison of two selected private television channels TV Barrandov and Prima Cool primarily according to content focus and audience structure and secondarily from the point of view of media discourse and speech acts. In the first theoretical part I define fundamental concepts such as television, digitization, audience, program schedule, target group, television viewership, media discourse and speech act. Further I characterize both television channels, define their program schedule, audience and present the results of rating. In the second practical part I use to compare program schedule a method of quantitative content analysis, which aims to compare the programming schedule of both television channels, define the differences in the structure of the program and answer research questions, which stands at its beginning. To comparison audience I use the questionnaire method. At the beginning of the method is determined by research sample and subsequently the method is applied. Results of the survey will allow an extensive description of the audiences of both television channels, determine which channel is more attractive and confirm if the results of the questionnaire method correspond with publicly available results of audience or are diametrical difference.
