Reception of Czech games in local and foreign media

Recently, both skilled individuals and large game studios can devote themselves to the development and creation of digital games. In the last decade, the gaming industry has established itself as the most profitable branch of the entertainment industry. Its annual turnover reached 180 billion USD, while the film industry generates annually 100 billion USD less. However, achieving success with your project on a global scale is not an easy challenge in this very competitive environment. Nevertheless, a relatively large number of projects have succeeded in the Czech Republic, regardless of how small a country we are. Five of them, each representing a different game genre, form the basis of the research corpus of this work, the purpose of which is to observe firstly whether the geographical origin of the game is a factor to which foreign game journalists attach a certain importance, and secondly to try to find common characteristics of the observed games, that led to their worldwide success, and to analyze whether it is possible to trace the influence of our shared socio-cultural environment in them. Glossators a Commentators in the Strahov Library

348 Glossators a Commentators in the Strahov Library Private law in the Czech Republic, but also in many countries of the world, has its origin in the law of ancient Rome, the development of which reached its peak in the form of a codification compiled at the initiative of Emperor Justinian I in the 6th century AD. However, modern civil codes do not draw their content, theoretically defined institutes, and systematics directly from the sources of Roman law, but from the results of their processing by medieval and early modern period jurists. This process is referred to as the reception of Roman law and, in addition to the discovery, or rather realization of importance, of Justinian codification, it involved its detailed study, the search for a system in the insufficiently organized compilation of the statements of classical Roman lawyers, the abstraction of theoretical concepts from casuistic norms and the transfer of ancient norms to the contemporary world. This thesis focuses on the first two stages of the process of reception of Roman law, which are referred to as schools of glossators and commentators according to the typical ways of work of lawyers, and which extend from approximately the second half of the 11th century to the end of the 15th century. The Naturalism in the Novels K. J. Šlejhar

The bachelor thesis deals with the reception of Šlejhar's stories, which are the prose Florian Bílek, mlynář z Byšic: příběhy z vesnického života and the short story collections Co život opomíjí and Z krajského města. The first part documents the primary reception, especially from published magazine critical texts from the period of Šlejhar's life and shortly after his death. The following section is focused on the secondary reception from years 1959 to 2008, which I draw mainly from literary historical books. In conclusion, I compare the reception from the transformation of points of view and emphasizing different aspects.

Typology of shifts in translations of novels by Santiago Gamboa from Spanish into Czech

The thesis is focused on analyzing the most common translation shifts in the translations of Santiago Gamboa's novels Perder es cuestión de método (1997) and Necrópolis (2009). The theoretical part is based on the presentation of novels and on the analysis of their reception in Spanish-speaking countries and in the Czech Republic. The work also presents two Czech translators, editors and Czech publishing houses, which published these books. The practical part is devoted to the analysis of translation shifts in both translations, we work here with the theory of expression changes and with the theory of shifts in the translation by Anton Popovic (1975, 1983), specially, we focus on individual shifts (lexical instantiations, transcription, omitting of significance, inserting of significance etc.). The differences between perception of metonymy in photography and in movies from the perspective of reception aesthetics

The diploma work "The differences between perception of metonymy in photography and in movies from the perspective of reception aesthetics" deals with different uses of the figure of speech - metonymy - in visual communication. The metonymy is primarily used as an ornamental device of language expression. It is also distinguishable in purely visual information that is provided in photography and certain film shots. In visual communication, metonymy is also used for embellishing of the visual content or, at least, its correction. This work is focused especially on these examples of the use of metonymy that employ the method of reception aesthetics, which was up to now applied only to literary works. The subjects of interest of the reception aesthetics are so- called places of indeterminacy and the horizon of expectation which is also the focus of this work in addition to its main focus on metonymic expression in movies and photography. The first part of this work deals with the theory of the reception aesthetics and its main exponents. The second part deals with the relationship between the recipients and the media, specifically photography and movie. Reception of Italian Renaissance forms of architecture in Bohemia

The Bachelor's thesis deals with reception of Italian Renaissance forms of architecture in Czech. The base of this thesis consist in studying architectural theories. The first part of this thesis is focused on theories by Roman architect Vitruvius and theories by Renaissance architect Leon Battista Alberti. In his work Alberti used the principles of Vitruvius but he updated it. This thesis also includes descriptions of Florentine buildings which follow the principles and were projected by Alberti. The major part of this thesis is dedicated to beginnings and acceptation the Italian Renaissance forms of architecture in Central Europe. Ladislav Vycpálek: cantata Blessed is the Man…

The following bachelor thesis aims to explain the cantata Blessed is the Man… in the context of the contemporary cantata's production and through the reception of Ladislav Vycpálek's works. The opening chapter provides the composer's full biography with a list of his non- music activities and awards. The next part presents some testimonies of the composer's personality and a summary dealing with the acceptance of Vycpálek's works by his contemporary peers. It also takes into account the references of his music in academic publications. Afterwards, Vycpálek's own analysis of his cantatas is addressed and a general view of the Czech contemporary cantata's production is put into perspective. The actual discussion on Blessed is the Man… enriches through an interpretation of its libretto; it also stands as a summary of performances as well as its reviews. Lastly, the closing chapter states on the diverse turns in the reception of the cantata and Vycpálek's music during the 20th and 21st century; it basically looks for its own reasons and the context.

The Pied Piper of Marina Tsvetaeva: Genesis, Reception and Translations of Poems with Commentary

Russian poet Marina Ivanovna Tsvetaeva (1892-1941) is one of the world's most prominent authors of the early 20th century. The Pied Piper (Ratcatcher) is the magnum opus of her work. The aim of my thesis was to literally translate the poem and provide a detailed commentary on the poem. Translation is designed for the future Slavonic Studies, but also for the wider public. The translation is a kind of proposal and could be used as the default text for a possible poetic translation of the poem into Czech. The intention of the commentary is to point out the relationships of the Tsvetaeva's Pied Piper and possible sources of inspiration of the texts of other authors or her own original works. The commentary also explains the concepts specific to the creation of Tsvetaeva and her characteristic individual poetic methods. The commentary, however, provide, nearly no interpretation. It is used only as a supplementary comment on individual parts in order to enable better understanding of the original text and the translation. The first chapters deal with the history of the poem, its genesis, and reception by critics and writers. Followed by technical notes to the translated text, where a reader would find an explanation of the peculiarities of the original text, including syntactic difficulties, which are the clues...
