Education of hearing impaired elementary school students during the world pandemic of COVID-19

Master's thesis "Education of hearing impaired elementary school students during the world pandemic of covid-19" is analyzing changes in the czech educational system during the said pandemic. The theoretical part of master's thesis describes the educational system of hearing impaired students, the historical context behind it, the legislative basis and modern trends in this specific educational branch. Furthermore there are explained communication systems used by the hearing impaired. In the last chapter of the first part there is description of the covid-19, its course and spreading and the extraordinary measures in educational systém taken by the government. The practical part is based on informants' statements in semi-structured interview. These informants were recruited amongst teachers, parents and students, who were actively involved in educational process during the pandemic of covid-19. The aim of this thesis is analyzing the impact of taken measures from diferent perspectives of teachers, parents and hearing impaired students. The research reveals how the unprecedented situation was by showing how unprepaired all focus groups were. Identification of emotional expression with a focus on the comparison of deaf, hearing and hearing-impaired

This thesis is focused on the identification of emotional expressions in the human face. The theoretical part includes an introduction to the issue of emotions, the history research on the identification of emotional expressions, the description of the various expressions of basic emotions and their recognition followed with the characteristics of the group of hearing-impaired. In the empirical part the research on the recognition identification of emotions in the face from the portraits is described. The aim of this thesis is to compare the accuracy of identification of emotional expressions among the groups of hearing, deaf and hard of hearing, and their development across all age categories. In my research I focus on the seven basic emotions (fear, anger, sadness, surprise, hapiness, disgust and contempt) and one social emotions (shame). The research did not confirm my assumptions. No statistically significant difference among the three groups in the overall identification of emotional expression was proved. The only difference was in the recognition of disgust which resulted in favor of the hearing. In the general comparison of ages between the hearing impaired (the deaf and the hard of hearing together) any significant differences were not discovered, either. Nevertheless, within each age...

The bachelor thesis deals with identity of hard of hearing people. This thesis is based on the relevant scientific literature and is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The contents of the theoretical part are the identity and characteristics and clasification of elements affecting the identity of a person in general. The thesis focuses on identity formation of hard of hearing people. The practical part uses investigation to verify elements affecting hard of hearing people identity listed in the theoretical part. Social activation services and work of social worker in Czech union of Deaf, regional organization of Prague

This undergraduate thesis examines an organization for the deaf, its services and the various roles of its employees. The theoretical section is a compilation of the writing of various authors regarding social work and the problem of hearing impairment. The initial chapter introduces the reader into the terminology regarding people with hearing impairments, their communication and culture. The second chapter is focused on the role of the social worker within and organization, and the process of social work with the impaired and the elderly. The third chapter analytically examines the Czech Union of the Deaf, the regional organization in Prague. It concisely introduces its history and its present operations. The emphasis is put on the services it provides and the scope within which its social workers operate. The final chapter introduces the results of an original quantitative survey, which was executed as a part of this thesis. The assumptions on which the research was founded are examined and an analysis of the data obtained through questionnaires is presented, including informative graphs and charts. TITLE: Hearing Loss and Its Social Impacts in Adult Age AUTHOR: Tereza Skákalová DEPARTMENT: Department of Special Education SUPERVISOR: doc. PhDr. Lea Květoňová, Ph.D. ABSTRACT: The present dissertation deals with the issue of the social impacts of hearing loss in adults. The thesis compiles the theoretical knowledge about the hard of hearing and society's attitudes towards them. The gradual change in attitude towards these people throughout various historical periods is described and this description of the evolution of their social status is concluded with the analysis of the current situation in the Czech Republic. The empirical part examines the influence of hearing loss on a person's involvement in modern day society. The research is qualitative and it examines the opinions of the affected people themselves and also experts working with this target group. The results of the research reflect a positive shift in the attitude towards the hard of hearing, but simultaneously show that their needs and abilities remain misunderstood. The most problematic issue is their capability of contribution at work. The findings are compared with other research. The helping articulation signs - Past and Present

This bachelor thesis applies to issues of helping articulation signs, which belong to phonemic system. For better notion how the helping articulation signs work are they given into opposition with other phonemic systems, like Cued Speech and Hand-Mund System. The helping articulation signs often occur with finger alphabet so in this thesis is a mention of this graphic system in opposition with helping articulation signs. Thereafter is a practical section of the thesis which is dedicated to a field research. The target of the research is to provide information about existence of the helping articulation signs at schools for students with a hearing impairment, about ways of working with them, about their contemporary forms and about their capturing in educational programs of single schools. At the end of this work comes to a summary of found information and their application to accessible information from literature sources.
