Das "deutsche Prag" 1939-1945. Ein Beitrag zur Erforschung der besetzten Hauptstädte Europas
Lohmann, Nina ; Křen, Jan (advisor) ; Puttkamer, Joachim (referee) ; Schmiechen-Ackermann, Detlef (referee)
anglicky The PhD thesis Das "deutsche Prag" 1939-1945. Ein Beitrag zur Erforschung der besetzten Hauptstädte Europas deals with the German occupation of Prague before and during World War II in the context of current research on the National-socialist occupation of Europe. The so-called Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia has been somewhat on the sidelines of current trends in international historiography as has the history of Prague in the Twentieth century. The thesis therefore first sketches out the broader research context as well as the roots for German occupation policy in the former Czechoslovak capital city, referring to the once prominent position of the German minority in Prague. One main focus of the thesis is then to try and analyse the (changing) structure and the population movement of the Germans in Prague during the years of occupation. In a next step, examples are given on how the German occupation regime tried to consolidate and expand the Germans' position in the city, aiming for an eventual re-modeling of the urban structure in terms of a "Germanisation" of the Bohemian capital. A chapter on the final collapse and dissolution of "German Prague" concludes the study.

Halásová, Michaela ; Soudek, Jan (advisor) ; Fišerová, Tereza (referee)
In many cases the organization of major sport events brings various benefits to hosting economies, especially those resulting from encouraged tourism. However, these events carry extensive costs coming mostly from public resources which could be used for other purposes, e.g. healthcare. The main goal of this thesis is to analyze the socioeconomic impact of the Ice Hockey World Championship 2015 on Prague and the Moravian-Silesian Region using a Cost-Benefit Analysis in which costs and benefits are summed up and benefit-cost ratio calculated. In our analysis we conclude that the event was beneficial not only for the Czech Ice Hockey Association; the hosting organization reporting profit of 450 million CZK before taxes but also for the regions with a benefit-cost ratio of 5.53, meaning that the benefit created equals 5.53 times the amount the regions invested into the event. Moreover, in this analysis we confirm an overall positive effect of the championship on tourism. Keywords cost-benefit analysis, Ice Hockey World Championship 2015, Prague, Ostrava, Moravian-Silesian Region, economic impact, major sport events, tourism

Thanks to the extensive lists and graphs, it also present the specialization and career evolution of the Imperial musicians, number and quality of their extraordinary payments, bonuses etc. The conception of a first global view on the Rudolfine musical entourage in Prague will be complemented in a forthcoming monograph by a complete list of (Gnadengeld), it means "grace payments" to the musicians for their music dedications...

Dance floor as a safe space: interviews with women of Czech club culture
Láska, Timon ; Hroch, Miloš (advisor) ; Turek, Pavel (referee)
The practical bachelor's thesis Dance Floor as a Safe Space: interviews with women in Czech club culture was written as a response to the ongoing debate about safe spaces in club cultures, in which the part of society most affected by the discussion, i.e. women, the queer community and other marginalized groups, rarely get a place to express themselves. The issue is more serious in the context of club cultures and the predominantly specific rave culture because these cultures present themselves as egalitarian cultures without any marginalization based on gender, sex, race, nation, or religion. In addition to gender diversity, the thesis also deals with the issue of safe spaces within club cultures; these two issues are closely and inextricably linked. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces the concepts that relate to the topic from a historical and contemporary context, it deals with the theory of the genre of the journalistic interview, gender and gender stereotyping, safe space, and last but not least club cultures and the rave culture under study. It will also delineate the functioning and differences between the scenes of both cities, Prague and Brno. The practical part of the thesis will present a series of ten interviews with women and non-binary people from the club cultures of Prague...
Beyond tourism: Development of place branding in the context of the City of Prague
Legáthová, Lucia ; Koudelková, Petra (advisor) ; Moravcová, Hana (referee)
In today's global landscape, cities and regions are increasingly competing for investments, tourists, and talent, prompting the adoption of multi-dimensional branding strategies beyond tourism promotion. City branding has emerged as a means to enhance the overall image and attractiveness of cities. Despite growing academic interest in city branding, a research gap exists, specifically in the case of Prague, where the international perception does not align with the progressive transformation of the city. The case study of the City of Prague is explored to examine its city branding efforts, uncover the most pressing challenges and provide possible solutions through a combination of content analysis of key strategic documents and semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders. Findings reveal a discrepancy between Prague's desired image and its branding efforts, hindered by a lack of clear leadership, political interest, coordination and long-term strategic vision. Addressing these challenges will be crucial for Prague to build a distinctive and successful city brand. Establishing clear leadership, engaging political stakeholders early in the process and defining clear and measurable objectives are among the potential solutions to bridge the gap between Prague's desired image and its branding efforts.

This qualitative study delves into the adaptation experiences of 17 Moroccan nationals residing in Prague. The focus is placed on their adept navigation of cultural differences, the strategies employed to overcome challenges during the adaptation process, and the revelation of the pivotal role played by social networks and support systems in their transition to Prague life. A carefully designed semi-structured interview protocol was used to gather detailed data. The data analysis followed the principles of constructive grounded theory methodology, aiming to develop a deep understanding and identify patterns in the collected information. Through systematic coding and continuous comparison, several significant themes emerged from the data: Cultural Dichotomy: Navigating Two Worlds (a); Bonds of Belonging: Building Bridges with Fellow Moroccans (b); Chasing Integration: Struggles and Strategies in Prague (c), Unveiling Identities: Negotiating Individuality in a Foreign Land (d).
