History of the German-speaking Inhabitants of the Czech lands in the Museum: Comparison of the Exhibitions Experience Homeland and Our Germans
Nagy, Kristýna ; Konrád, Ota (advisor) ; Swider, Malgorzata (referee)
The master thesis examines and compares two new museum exhibitions dedicated to the history of the German-speaking population of the Czech lands. These are the exhibition Experience Homeland in the Sudeten German Museum in Munich and Our Germans in the Ústí nad Labem City Museum. The subject of the analysis is the creation and current form of these exhibitions and the story of history they present to the visitor. Both exhibitions were documented and compared on the basis of a catalogue of questions based on a critical analysis of historical sources. The results of the analysis show that, although both museums were planned in the same time period and in an atmosphere that encouraged a shared critical perspective on the previously different interpretations of Czech-German history, the final forms of the two museums continue to present a significant part of history in different ways, and neither has fully fulfilled its original intent. The exhibitions present the 18th and 19th century periods very similarly and also critically reflect the development of nationalism among both Czech and German speakers. The political development of the 20th century, however, is depicted by the exhibitions each from its own perspective. The results of the research suggest that despite the current functioning...

Linhart, Kryštof ; Švec, Luboš (advisor) ; Kolenovská, Daniela (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the reaction of the League of Nations to the key events of Czechoslovak and Finnish history, Munich and the Winter War. The thesis examines the events from the perspective of the League of Nations in order to determine what factors influenced the League response, taking into account the form of the Pact itself and the wording of the individual articles dealing with collective security. The thesis offers insights into the formation of the League of Nations itself, the resulting form of the Pact, and the most important interwar initiatives for the peaceful settlement of disputes. The main focus of the thesis is to examine the response of the League of Nations to Munich and the Winter War, with each of the chapters devoted to a given issue presenting the situation in which the League of Nations found itself in a given year (spring-summer 1938, autumn 1939), as well as focusing on the factors that influenced the operation of this peace-keeping international organization and affected its response to the events under examination. These include the failure to resolve previous crises of the 1930s (Abyssinia), the submission or non-submission of disputes for negotiation, and the influence of the Great Powers, particularly Great Britain and France. The subsequent comparison of...
Dealing with Nazi architectural heritage in Munich between 1945 and 2015
Matoušek, Jan ; Filipová, Lucie (advisor) ; Emler, David (referee)
Bachelor thesis abstract This bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of attitudes to the Nazi architectural heritage in Munich between 1945 and 2015. In Munich, which was described by Adolf Hitler as the Capital of the Movement and the Capital of German Art, Hitler built several representative buildings to serve Nazi propaganda and to demonstrate the magnitude of Hitler's regime in the Third Reich. This bachelor thesis examines specific examples of Munich's Nazi buildings - Königsplatz, Ehrentempel pantheons, Haus der (Deutschen) Kunst, Führerbau and Verwaltungsbau. After 1945, when Munich was occupied by the American army, it was necessary in the post-war denazification to take a stand on these Nazi buildings in the interest of the city's new democratic future. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to present the history of Munich's Nazi buildings and research post-war attitudes towards these specific Munich buildings burdened by the Nazi past in the so-called architectural denazification strategies since 1945, when World War II ended until April 2015, to the opening of the Munich Documentation Center for Nazism. Based on research into the history and post-war attitudes towards individual buildings, I came to the conclusion that all studied buildings in Munich had at least partial suppression of their Nazi...

Reflections of the Munich Agreement in the illegal anti-Nazi magazine "V boj"
Budská, Eva ; Kučera, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Šmidrkal, Václav (referee)
This thesis deals with the magazine V boj's reflection of the Munich Agreement. This journal was published illegally in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia from May 1939 to spring 1941. V boj was a part of the resistance standing up for Beneš. This academic work will show the immediate reactions of contemporaneous Czech and foreign authors to the Munich Agreement. A content analysis examines three concrete and distinct paradigms associated with the Munich Agreement. The first paradigm reflects the Agreement of Munich as a betrayal of western countries. The second is the amount of Beneš's responsibility for this event. The third contends that this agreement reflects the collapse of Czechoslovak democracy. V boj allows one not only to look closer at the so-called civic groups, but also to examine the prints published by the military resistance organization Obrana národa (Defence of the Nation). The thesis follows the general knowledge of the V boj's content presented by its reprint, done by Růžena Hlušičková and her collective.

The Munich agreement and its reflection in the press/ The reflection of the Munich agreement in the press
Legátová, Alžběta ; Končelík, Jakub (advisor) ; Cebe, Jan (referee)
The Munich agreement signed on the 29th of September 1938 has always been giving rise to strong emotions in Czech society. This event, frequently described as "about us, without us", is a synonym for humiliation, injustice and a symbol of betrayal for many. The historian Jan Tesař holds a non-traditional point of view on this matter. He opposes this established interpretation and sees it as a source of origin of the so-called Munich Complex. The proposed diploma thesis focuses on this phenomenon, which is examined in printed media. Firstly, it provides a brief historical context and introduces an overview of different interpretations of Munich events within Czech historiography as well as describes the arguments of Tesař himself. Furthermore, the Munich complex is conceptualized and the resulting concept includes variables necessary for the research part of the thesis. This section consists of qualitative and quantitative analysis of the content of selected representative media samples. Among examined aspects are arguments used in the press, patterns of interpretation and attributed meanings. The time scope for analysis ranges from 1948 to 2018. Finally, the examination of the presence of aforementioned elements in selected samples and evolution of media bias throughout the time provides knowledge...
