Educational Activity of Jednota bratrská in the Region of Mladá Boleslav

The diploma thesis discusses Bohemian Brethren, its history, and its activities on the territory of Bohemia, Moravia, and North America. The historical part investigates its origins. It summarizes the period of the founding and persecution. It refers to the important people Jan Blahoslav and Jan Amos Komenský. Further it covers their missionary work. It investigates the influence of the Czech legacy of Moravian Brethren in North America and its preserving. Furthermore, it focuses on the educational activities of Bohemian Brethren in the Czech Republic, especially in Mladá Boleslav.
Concentrations of indoor submicrometer and supermicrometer particulate matter in a primary school in Prague

Children are a susceptible group to environment pollution. The environment, in which they spend the most time, is the home, the second is the school. Therefore, the indoor environment of a school affects their health, wellbeing and even school results. The present work investigated concentrations of air pollutant, aerosol particles, in the specialized classrooms (computer lab, arts and biology/chemistry) in an elementary school, Prague. Direct reading instruments measuring mass concentration of four aerosol fractions and number concentration of submicrometer particles were used for measurement. Measurements were carried out for four weekdays in each month from November 2011 to July 2012. It was found that mass concentrations of submicrometer particles were dependent on outdoor concentrations, in contrast to supermicrometer particles which were affected mainly by physical activities of students and outdoor concentration had a minimal effect. Increased number concentrations of submicrometer particles were observed only during children presence, concentrations were probably induced by student activities during lessons. Air quality in schools

A lot of scientific articles were published about the indoor air quality during the last decade. It is proven that high concentrations of particulate matter and problems connected with poor ventilation conditions can cause health effects to people who are sensitive to them. Children are one of the groups at risk. They spend a lot of time at home and also at school, so the air quality at schools is an important issue. This work contains a review of scientific papers concerning this issue. It discusses the factors influencing indoor air quality, mainly concentration of particulate matter and carbon dioxide. Other factors were also chosen: the age of the school building and its location, the seasonality, the number and level of activity of pupils, floor carpeting and the amount of air circulation in the classrooms. The preliminary study tries to prove these theories. The concentration of PM10 and CO2, the temperature and the relative humidity were measured in three classrooms at one primary school in Prague. The results show that higher concentration of particulate matter is correlated with higher level of activity of pupils. Estimating infiltration of quasi-ultrafine black carbon particles by an absorbance method: air quality in Pavla Stehlíková Abstract This diploma thesis focused on the estimating quasi-ultrafine particles amount in school gyms continue previous study researched air quality in schools. The size-segregated mass concentration of particulate matter was measured in three elementary school gyms in central part of Prague, on periphery of Prague and in a small settlement Černošice during twenty campaigns, from 2005 to 2009. The mass concentration of particulate matter were measured by 5-staged Sioutas impactor. For this thesis we have selected samples on filters with particle size <0,25µm. To evaluate carbonaceous particles amount we used reflectance. Reflectance was transformed into an absorption coefficient (m- 1 .10-5 ). The average levels of absorptions coeficients were higher outdoors (14,66 ± 8,93 m- 1 .10-5 ) than indoors (13,64 ± 8,08 m-1 .10-5 ). The correlations between absorption coeffitients outdoors and indoors were significant for all schools (Spearman's correlation coefficient at intervals 0,834-0,957, regression slope 0,759-1,007), suggesting a high outdoor-to-indoor penetration rate. Comparison of school catering policies in the Czech Republic and other european countries

The school lunch provides an important opportunity for learning healthy habits, and well-balanced school meals have been linked to improved concentration in class, better educational outcomes and fewer sick days. School lunches are diverse across Europe. Many countries in Europe have policies to help schools provide nutritionally balanced meals which also reflect the general eating culture of each nation. The most advanced systems of school meals include those in Finland and Sweden, where all school meals are fully funded by the government. In 2014 first children between the ages of five and seven received a free school lunch in The United Kingdom. In England, school meals have increased their level due to the fact that renowned chef Jamie Oliver noticed how poor quality school meals had. The Jamie Oliver Food Foundation was founded in 2002 and run three core food education programmes in schools. Recently, a very interesting topic is organic food in school meals, and less use of convenient food. Italy has become a pioneer in Europe to use organic and local products in school meals. 40 % of their served food has an organic origin. Across France are all vending machines banned from school since 2005. Countries which do not have compulsory system of school catering services are e.g. Norway, Netherlands and Belgium. Czech school meals are one of the best in Europe. And not just in terms of a comprehensive system of school lunches, but also by the availability of full hot school lunches of high quality for all children. School canteens in Czech Republic based their nutrient ration on recommended daily nutrients intake, which provide daily need of essential nutrients and vitamins. These daily intakes are part of Decree 107 of 2005. In these days, in Czech Republic is discussed question of the ban on vending machines. And in February 2015, it has been decreed to ban the sale of unhealthy snacks and beverages in Czech schools approved by the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.
School, the Foundation of Life – a Complex of Educational Buildings in Ostrava, Cerna louka

The main idea of this project was a playful school. The shape of the building follows the river. The group of these objects escalates from small hills to the big corten building on the corner. This corten object is connected with the Black Meadow. The project works with shape of the roofs.
School, the Foundation of Life – a Complex of Educational Buildings in Ostrava, Cerna louka

Theme of the diploma thesis is architectural study of school buildings in Ostrava. It combines a kindergarten, primary and secondary school – a grammar school. The school is situated next to the cultural cluster Černá louka in Ostrava – the new designed cultural center of the city, and also on the bank of the river Ostravice. The main idea is adaptation of the scale of school spaces due to children of a different age, an orientation of classrooms to south-east and at the same time to the river bank. The kindergarten is separated from service and volume of the school, the primary school and the grammar school are united in one two- and three-store building with an inner yard. The buildings are accessible for pupils from an entrance square near Černá louka, the entrance for public is situated on the new designed street connecting Černá louka and Nová Karolina. The complex offers also sport facilities, a gym, a swimming pool and exterior sport ground which is accessible from the cycling track along the river Ostravice. The exterior look of the buildings is based on the construction, the reinforced concrete structure from white architectural concrete, and is animated by shading panels from corten sheets.
