Specifics of a family with a handicapped child

The diploma thesis is focused on researching the impact of a disabled child on the family from birth to adulthood and follows the specifics of a family with a disabled child. It is about the effect on the family as a whole, as well as the effect on individual family members and the relationships between them. An important aspect is also the impact on the formation of relationships between siblings and relatives, as well as the influence on the social environment of the family. In the theoretical part, the thesis deals with basic concepts such as family and its functions and factors affecting it, disability, types and consequences of disability. In the practical part, the work focuses on researching the impact of a disabled child on the family from birth to adulthood. The goal of this work was the best possible understanding of the impact of the arrival of a disabled child in the family and the impact of the newly created situation on family members. The main topic is to focus on their states and reactions in the individual stages of life with a disabled child and to find out how and in what form it is possible to help eliminate the negative effects of a disabled child on individual family members and their own lives. Use of artefilities in the adaptation of pupils with OMJ to the primary school environment

The diploma thesis "The Use of Art Therapy in the Adaptation of Students with Different Native Languages to the Elementary School Environment" focuses on the utilization and effectiveness of art therapy as the main tool for developing relationships and improving the social climate of the classroom. The aim of the thesis is to propose and verify through research an art therapy program in the fifth grade of elementary school. The theoretical part introduces the specifics of students with different native languages, particularly their Adaptation to a new environment as well as the preparation of all presently studying students in the class and the school as such for the arrival of a student with a different native language. The theoretical part also defines art therapy as a separate field of science subject, its focus, and its contribution to education. The practical part presents ten art therapy sessions aimed at developing prosocial behavior, assertiveness, and socially acceptable behavior not only among Czech students but especially among students with different native languages and war refugees. Bakalářská práce se zabývá rozvojem sebevědomí při komunikaci u dětí prvního stupně s narušenou komunikační schopností pomocí arteterapie. V úvodní kapitole je podrobně popsána narušená komunikační schopnost a jaký má vliv na osobnost dítěte. Je zde kladen důraz na sebevědomí v komunikaci u osob s NKS. Druhá kapitola se zaměřuje na arteterapii. Popisuje jednotlivé formy, fáze setkání, metody, vymezuje cíle arteterapie a konkrétně arteterapii u osob s NKS. V poslední části je navržen arteterapeutický program cílený na rozvoj sebevědomí při komunikaci. Je rozvržen detailně do deseti setkání a zohledňuje specifické potřeby dítěte. Postupuje dle náročnosti. Hlavním cílem navrženého programu je nejen rozvoj sebevědomí při komunikaci, ale také odreagování a rozvoj fantazie. The use of bibliotherapy in the development of reading literacy of prelingually deaf children

The bachelor's thesis The use of bibliotherapy in the development of reading literacy of prelingually deaf children connects the field of bibliotherapy with deaf studies. The aim of the thesis is to draw up a proposal for a bibliotherapy program based on theoretical knowledge which aims at supporting the development of reading literacy of pupils who lost their hearing before learning spoken Czech and who consider the Czech sign language (which will also be the primary communication code of the programme) as their first language. The theoretical part summarizes and synthesizes Czech and foreign knowledge about the deaf (with an emphasis on their communication systems and the acquisition of Czech language), reading literacy, its meaning and development, and bibliotherapy and its techniques. The practical part of the thesis contains a proposal for a bibliotherapy program in which clients will work with different types of texts, such as comics, recipes, popular science texts and narration. Activities following the reading develop selected reading strategies and components of reading literacy.
Importance of special class for pupils with mild mental disabilities at regular primary school

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of education of pupils with intellectual disabilities in the environment of regular elementary schools. The aim of the thesis is to describe and verify the system of education in a class set up for pupils with mild intellectual disabilities and to evaluate the importance of this class within a regular primary school. The theoretical part of the work is devoted to the characteristics of intellectual disabilities, deals with school legislation, compares the education systems of pupils with special educational needs in neighboring countries and describes educational procedures and methods in the education of people with mild intellectual disabilities. The practical part is implemented by one of the methods of qualitative research, which is a case study. The research is carried out in the form of observations in the classroom set up according to § 16, paragraph 9, additional information is obtained on the basis of semi-structured interviews with schoolteachers and parents of pupils. The conclusions of the investigation offer the characteristics of the given class, its specifics and possibilities.
Use of ergotherapy for Down's syndrome in preschool age

The diploma thesis Use of ergotherapy fro Down's syndrome in preschool age deals with the use of ergotherapy as a tool for the development of fine and gross motor skills in children with Down syndrome in preschool age. The work consists of two parts. The theoretical part defines the issue of Down syndrome, then describes the specifics of the development of a child with an intellectual disability in preschool age, with a focus on the development of fine and gross motor skills, and the last part summarizes the current knowledge about ergotherapy and its use in children with Down syndrome in preschool age. The second part describes the design of an occupational therapy program focused on the development of fine and gross motor skills in children with Down syndrome and then verifies its applicability in practice through action research. Three children wit Down syndrome aged of four to five were involved in the usability testing and their progress in individual fine and gross motor skills was compared. The results of the research show that the proposed program is usable in practice and at the same time give suggestions for its modifications for further use.

The diploma thesis Development of reading in students with intellectual disability is a special pedagogical topic that extends to all areas of the life of a person with an intellectual disability. The theoretical part offers an insight into the issue of reading and reading interests among students with intellectual disabilities, the area of reading and reading interests, pre-reading is brought up, teaching reading methods, supporting reading and reading interests, basic information about a person with moderate and severe intellectual disabilities and education of persons with intellectual disabilities. The research part is prepared on the basis of qualitative research. The main method of qualitative research was semi-structured interviews, supplemented by unstructured participant observation. The aim of the diploma thesis is to describe and evaluate the support of reading and the development of reading among students with moderate and severe intellectual disability at a particular special elementary school. Specifics of parenting a child with autism spectrum disorder

The focus of this diploma thesis is on parenting a child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In the diploma thesis, specific aspects and differences of family functioning are discussed. In the theoretical segment, pervasive developmental disorders are defined historically. They define individual types of autism spectrum disorders with an emphasis on distinctive characteristics of deficient areas of development, and identify specific aspects of family life. It is also aimed at diagnosing autistic children and finding help and support for their parents. Qualitative research is the main focus of the practical segment. It aims to capture and map in detail important moments from the private lives of three families, in order to better understand their subjective experience of parenting a child with an autism spectrum disorder.
