Novotná, Apolena ; Skýbová, Jana (advisor) ; Pavlasová, Lenka (referee)
This thesis is focused on interconnection between education of plant pigments and inquiry- based science education in upper primary school. The theoretical section of this thesis deals with the current quality of education and knowledge level of Czech pupils in science subjects, as well as characteristic of inquiry based science education and description of various types of plant pigments. Evaluation of publications focused on occurrence of plant pigments in curricular document is another part of this thesis. The study revealed that plant pigments represent only a marginal topic of these publications. The next section of this thesis is a questionnaire survey about utilization of inquiry based science education among the teachers of biology in upper primary school. The results showed that most of the teachers were well acquainted with the method and applied it during their teaching. The last section of this thesis contains two proposals for experimental tasks of inquiry-based science education of plant pigments, which are focused on interface of biology and chemistry. Both tasks were successfully solved.

Lapáčková, Hana ; Skýbová, Jana (advisor) ; Říhová, Dagmar (referee)
I have decided to include into my diploma thesis the history overview of the Botanical Garden. A number of major events and pitfalls accompanied the history of the garden. The chapter about the general characteristics of the Botanical Garden of Charles University Science Faculty is also comprised Inside my thesis. There are also mentions about the exposition distinction to greenhouse and outside part and also the significant geopark which offers the additional opportunities for education. I am presenting here the offered programs of Botanical Garden for schools and the public without omitting the sample material offered to the visitors. I have also included the description of the innovative manner of interactive education of biology using the information boards and QR codes placed on these boards. Considering the didactic usage of Botanical garden I have created the worksheets which complement the excursion plan. So I have comprised the excursion planning, creation of worksheets, assembling the questions and the pitfalls during their creation in the next chapters. Afterwards I have described the excursion execution itself, its evaluation and the possible modifications of worksheets. The next chapters deal with the questionnaire designed for teachers of biology. I have concentrated in my teaching...
Microscopic Fungi in Practical Exercises at Lower Secondary School
Tejmlová, Kristýna ; Pavlasová, Lenka (advisor) ; Skýbová, Jana (referee)
Microscopic fungi (micromycetes) is a topic that is at lower secondary schools neglected and mentioned only marginally. Fungi are of great importance for humans in their everyday life, whether negative or positive. It is the reason to rethink how and when to inform pupils about them. The aim of my thesis is to create my own practical exercises that acquaint the pupils of lower secondary schools with the appearance, properties, occurrence, uses, cultivation methods, and last, but not least with the safety of micromycets. In the practical exercises are used basic methods of work with micromycets such as inoculation of the population from the natural environment to a sterile culture medium, the sedimentation method or the method of spreading a dilute suspension of the stick on the agar medium. The revaccination is used to eliminate secondary structures. Then we deal with the possibility of preparing culture media. Isolated cultures of microscopic fungi are identified by macroscopic characters. Due to the safety with micromycets, I recommend to teach microscopic characteristics in high school. The presented practical exercises were verified at the lower secondary school in Vinařice by pupils of the 6th class. The practical exercises proved to be suitable for pupils in lower secondary school. Securing...

In the first part, there are described chosen didactic methods and current classification of botanic in the "General education programme of the basic education system". Furthermore, there is described past classification of the botanic in the "Education programme of Grammar school, General school and National school". Second part contains questionnaire results - pupils and teachers of botanic in the 7. grade of grammar school. The goal of the questionnaire was to find out, which teaching methods are used during the education of botanic, which methods are popular and unpopular with teachers as well as students and which methods are, according to the opinions of the teachers, effective and ineffective. Other goal of the questionnaire was to find out, if the teachers are using education programmes during lessons. In the third part of the thesis, there is listed my own proposal of a lesson of a chosen topic in botanic, which I have based on the results of the questionnaires. To be specific, it's teaching about family of legumes plants (Fabaceae) utilizing many didactic methods without...

Chocholová, Kateřina ; Pavlasová, Lenka (advisor) ; Skýbová, Jana (referee)
School project focused on sexually transmitted diseases ABSTRACT This Thesis forms two segments: theoretically oriented and practically oriented. Theoretical background doesn't only deal with development of project-based learning from history to the present but characteristics of project-based learning as such. There is an emphasis on positives at work but also cons that this innovative method brings, analysis of different types of project, important role of a student and a teacher and planning of the project itself. Second segment of theoretical part forms basic information about bacterial and viral diseases (chlamydia, gonorrhea, chancroid, syphilis, hepatitis B, genital herpes, AIDS, genital warts and cervical cancer). Practical part is dedicated to application of theory of project-based learning itself into practice. The result is a formation of a particular project called Sexually transmitted diseases, which is then completed on higher level of high school. Further there is thoroughly described project planning, realization and its evaluation. The Thesis emphasizes project-based learning as an innovative process that is capable of helping students with development of key competencies and fulfilling requirements of Framework educational program for upper secondary general education. Knowledge of plants of grammar-school students in Ústí region
Horák, Bohuslav ; Novotný, Petr (advisor) ; Skýbová, Jana (referee)
In the theoretical part I summarized nowadays Framework educational program at schools in the Czech republic and nowadays educational methods to teaching plants. Also, the thesis describes basic characteristics of plants, methods of plant preservation and research methods that have been used during writing the thesis. The research part indicates the results of the research conducted at grammar-schools in Ústí region and indicates the level of the pupils' knowledge of plants. Furthermore, I have tried to suggest how to make the plant identification tests more intriguing and comprehensible. The thesis uses information obtained from interviews with teachers and survey research carried out among the pupils of Ústí region grammar-schools. Based on the research results I have laid out an optimal number of plant species for teaching the plant identification. Unfortunately, there is a limited number of publications, so I exploited the knowledge and experience of Biology teachers at grammar-schools, and I followed their advice when creating worksheets.

Options of Approach to Teaching of Morphology of Leaf at Lower Secondary School
Němečková, Linda ; Pavlasová, Lenka (referee) ; Skýbová, Jana (referee)
The thesis deals with the options of approach to teaching leaf morphology at lower secondary schools from both theoretical and emprical point of view. The empirical part is then verified on-site within the teaching process. The theoretical part is dedicated to the topic of leaf and particular aspects of the teaching process. The empirical part at first attempts to conduct a survey of the methods and organization forms of teaching applied at particular lower secondary schools within the teaching of leaf morfology. Afterwards, it analyses selected textbooks used for teaching biology. Next part describes suggested methods and organization forms of teaching applied less frequently during the education. The second goal of the thesis is to put in practice the methods and organization forms of teaching within an educational experiment. Afterwards, a didactic test is used at representative schools to verify the efficiency. At the end of the thesis, the results of the following are presented: the observation of teaching leaf morphology, the analysis of the biology textbooks content, and the didactic test. The results of the didactic test demonstrate the extent to which the skills and knowledge of the students are effected by the methods and organization forms of teaching applied within the educational...
