A Support of GVFS Caching
Holý, Ondřej ; Zelený, Jan (referee) ; Smrčka, Aleš (advisor)
The master's thesis deals with a support of caching in GVfs (Gnome Virtual filesystem). Basics of caches, cache invalidation, and cache replacement algorithms are described. Description of GIO filesystem abstraction and communication of modules within GVfs is provided next. The disadvantages of individual GVfs modules and, if present, their internal caches are discussed. The thesis proposes three types of cache. The first type of cache is for storing file metadata, the second one for directory listings, and the latter for file content. These caches have been implemented in a prototype and verified with respect to the functionality and performance. The main benefits of the proposed solution are faster work with virtual filesystems and provided missing functionality of lower-level virtual filesystem to GIO abstraction (namely, for instance seek operation).
An Extension of Support for Archives in GVFS
Holý, Ondřej ; Charvát, Lukáš (referee) ; Smrčka, Aleš (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with an extension of archive daemon in GVFS system. The extension was designed, implemented, and tested based on an analysis of current state of the daemon, LibArchive library options, and similar projects. The main benefit of the extension is an easy manipulation with files in an archive via GIO API, which is used by many applications running in GNU/Linux operating system. Files and folders included in an archive can be read, renamed, moved, copied or deleted, it can also create empty directories. Daemon also allows creating new archives of a desired format.

The main part consists of an artistic - historical chapter, which discusses the phenomenon of painting in the Iron Mountains as a place for the development of landscape painting at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. The work focuses on the analysis of landscape motifs in a given locality. He compares the motifs that inspired painters and seeks their connection to the work of other painters and puts them in the context of open-air painting. The chapter deals in detail with five painters, other painters are mentioned marginally due to the need for context. The choice of motifs does not differ from the motifs painted in other areas. The specificity of painting in the Iron Mountains lies in the simplicity of the landscape and its colors. Other motifs include motifs with a path, ponds, especially the Utopenec pond near Ronov nad Doubravou, Lichnice castle.
