Univerzita Karlova v Praze Pedagogická fakulta ABSTRACT KEY COMPETENCIES FOR SUSTAINABLE ACTION IN EARLY EDUCATION CURRICULUM PhDr. Tereza Vošahlíková Vedoucí práce Doc. RNDr. Vasilis Teodoridis, Ph.D. Katedra biologie a environmentálních studií Pedf UK Doktorský studijní program pedagogika Externí konzultantka Prof. dr. Ute Stoltenberg Institut für integrative Studien, Leuphana Universität Lüneburg Praha 2012 The thesis introduces environmentally oriented concepts in early education curriculum with one leading point of view: key competences for sustainable action. Key competences represent new, open ended form of educational goals. Early education curriculum defined broadly as all educational content (planned, realized and hidden) presents a field of study of this thesis. In this field, a new concept, education for sustainable development, should be implemented worldwide. The question is, how far and how successfully can this concept be introduced in the early education curriculum on the level of educational goals. There are many general strategies and models of curriculum revision. In order to structure the empirical study, a hierarchical model of macro-, meso- and micro level of curriculum was established. This model allows examination of two ways of education for sustainable development implementation,...
Description of personal relationship towards nature: introduction to theory and terminology
Krajhanzl, Jan ; Šulová, Lenka (advisor) ; Šípek, Jiří (referee) ; Činčera, Jan (referee)
In the last forty years interdisciplinary interest in environmental behaviour has grown together with broad attention aimed to environmental conditions. Normative research in the field has developed hand in hand with environmental education, whereas descriptive research, which deals with description patterns of human experience and behaviour, has been overshadowed. This imbalance has influenced the current practice: despite the variety of techniques and theories concerning support of proenvironmental behaviour, the knowledge of human experience and behaviour in environmentally-relevant situations remains rather limited. Similar imbalance exists in the terminology. The presented thesis mainly deals with the descriptive study of experience and behaviour towards nature with special interest in the so-called relationship toward nature. We present definitions of environmental behaviour and proenvironmental behaviour in introductory chapters and examine, which groups of factors influence environmental behaviour. Relationship toward nature represents one group of these factors. We cover overview of the concepts, which are associated with description of relationships toward nature, and distinguish between one-dimensional approach (concepts of alienation human towards nature, biophilia hypothesis and environmental...

Pospíšilová, Anna ; Valenta, Josef (advisor) ; Činčera, Jan (referee) ; Jirásek, Ivo (referee)
A B S T R A C T The text deals with bullying from the prospective of personal and social education. Personal and social education as a complex theory offers basic and methodical background for working with bullying. It is able to provide good reflexion of the educational reality. The aim of the work is to describe how the topics of personal and social education are personified in the programs of prevention of bullying. It concerns pupils in fifth, sixth and seventh grade of the elementary schools (12-14 years old). The research was performed as a field research of the etnographic character. In the theoretical section the study defines personal and social education as a theoretical framework and it is the basis for the research. The definition of the term personification follows as it is crucial for the work within the personal and social education. The following chapter describes bullying and explains how this term was understood earlier and how it is perceived today. The experimental section describes the methodology of the research. It gives basic information about the pertinent research and explains its results. The results are summarized in four categories: what leads to personification, what the obstacles to personification are, the lecturer's ideas on personification and methodical notes.

The University of Profesor Cactus- An Evaluation of the Orbis Kaktus 2008 Global Education Course Methology
Horáková, Ivana ; Činčera, Jan (advisor) ; Dlouhá, Jana (referee)
The thesis evaluates the Orbis Kaktus 2008 experiential learning course in global and environmental education and assesses the change of attitudes, opinions, understanding and behaviour of its participants. The course relied on three basic concepts (or horizons): the perception of natural beauty (1), the understanding of the world's interconnectedness (2) and the knowledge of one's active involvement (3). The changes in the participants on these levels were assessed and the goals of the methodology were evaluated on both the curricular level (the impact on the participants' understanding of the concepts) and the group development level (to what extent the group had been integrated into a functional unit capable of cooperating on specific projects). The evaluation was based on a written feedback from the course, interviews with participants and data from questionnaires collected before and after the course. In general, the goals of the course had been fulfilled, but the data revealed some factors that might have additional effect on both the effectiveness and the impact of the course. The aim of this paper is to help to develop the methodology of similar programmes and reflect upon its effectiveness. It should also shed some light on the possible barriers of the course goals' fulfilment.
