Rousseau and his Influence on the French Revolution
Pravda, Petr ; Znoj, Milan (advisor) ; Šimsa, Martin (referee)
The "rigorózní" thesis focuses on the evaluation of Rousseau's legacy. It is based on the confrontation of two adverse pictures of his ideas. The first image sees Rousseau as a thinker who prepared with his original concepts fertile ground for diverse undemocratic regimes and ideologies. These always declare their allegiance to the loftiest ideals but only to perpetrate the biggest crimes and to deprive people of their liberty. The second image sees in Rousseau an uncompromising critic of social injustice who saw the only possibility for redemption in liberty and equality. In this case he was one of the most important thinkers who inspired people on the road to the victory of democracy and an author whose original ideas still keep to inspire and to fascinate. I argue in favor of the second picture. Rousseau's critique of the moral crisis is based on the disunity of modern social man. This disunity stems from the incessant conflict between our natural nature and the social state. Rousseau saw the only solution in the adaptation of the original nature to the new social state. This can be achieved only through an affective bond to a political whole. Just so can man keep his liberty which represents the basic value of his existence. In society it is no more a case of absolute freedom but of conscious obedience...

Sports Centre Brno - Luzanky
Kristek, Jan ; Foretníková, Ladislava (referee) ; Šindlar, Jiljí (advisor)
NEW FOOTBALL STADIUM FOR BRNO Have to be stadium inert, ingrown arena, which turns on its back to its context? The first idea of the concept was inspired by the impressions from the exhibition of Dutch photographer Hans van Meer. Common to all of his football photographs are sceneries of country-side or cities that serve as a background for amateur football matches. Football played in the open air just for the joy from the game and in the presence of astonishing scene appears almost poetic. Is it possible to transfer at least partly such poetic into a football stadium? Locality near to Lužánky is outstanding exactly because of its context. It is placed next to the center of Brno with possibility of the view at the panoramas of Petrov and castle Veveří. The idea to connect the fans´ impression of a game with genius loci of the city, where the match takes place, strongly influenced the conceptual solution to the stadium. It enables fans to watch football game not only in the atmosphere of the simmering stadium, but also with a dash of poetic of the far-away view. The concept is based on four minimalistic desks of the tribunes clamped into the pace of the adjoining functions of the stadium. The tribunes are interconnected through rope frame, which roofs the tribunes and simultaneously co-functions as a single construction unit. This concept resulted in a complex solution to the construction from concrete, steel – compression and tension members that would enable practical implementation of this idea.

The responses in domestic politics to Hodza Plan 1935-1936
Váňa, Daniel ; Jakubec, Ivan (advisor) ; Dufek, Pavel (referee) ; Kovář, Martin (referee)
Abstract The thesis is about the reaction of Czechoslovak political scene to Milan Hodža's Danubian plan. Milan Hodža was Slovak Agrarian and economist who introduced his plan in the second half of 1935 at the time when he was Prime minister of Czechoslovakia. Author emerged from broader considerations of Czech and Czechoslovak ideas about economic and political developments in Central Europe, according to Palacký "space between Germany and Russia." In this context author accepts Palackys beliefs about the indispensability of the Danubian Hapsburg Empire as the counter imperialist expansion's bumper of both the continental powers and efforts of political parties Mladočeši and Staročeši who tried to reform and maintain the country. He also describes the interwar projects of Czechoslovak sovereign foreign policy, where Czechoslovaks tried to take on an inspirational leadership role of Central European economic and political cooperation which was based on Little Entente. Author of this thesis thinks that Hodža's Plan is just one of these projects. And as all the previous projects Hodža's plan had no opportunity to be implemented in the new internationally-political and internationally-economic context. Had Milan Hodža prepared his plan for economic and potentially political cooperation between Danube region countries from the national economy point of view? Did he start the wider discussion about the possibility of Danube region cooperation in Czechoslovakia? These are the basic questions that the author asks and he answers them in the last chapter of his work: Milan Hodža never made any concrete national economic statement for his plan. His attempt for the realization had never gone out of the diplomatic detection. Likewise he did not evoke any specific reaction of Czechoslovak political parties not even in party periodicals.

Erva, Martin ; Soukup, Jaromír (referee) ; Kovář, Martin (advisor)
democratic world started in the United Kingdom: nationalization. The Labour Party landslide victory in the general election of 1945 was more than just a change of government. First time in history Labour Party came to power with a majority in the House of Commons. As a result of these processes the Labour ministers launched nationalization programme. However, these processes have deeper roots. Nationalization without protests was possible after many years of changes within the British population. The perception of property rights, freedom and role of a state was different than twenty years ago. We have to go back to a period of the Great War, when Great Britain started with reforms of a state that were inspired by Germany. Functions ofthe state were reorganized along German lines. Paradoxically, "German's succes" in the World W ar was a main reason for it. Furthermore, Labour Party had strongly believed in nationalization from the times of Karl Marx. For Labour Party nationalisation had been a necessary condition for a socialistic society. The dangerest attack on the freedom and property rights came from the middle way activists, economists and politicians like J.M. Keynes, W. Beveridge and others. These people, as well as the Second World War, convinced people and elites in the Great Britain, that...

Vágnerová, Alena ; Pauknerová, Monika (advisor) ; Dobiáš, Petr (referee)
This thesis deals with issues raised by the emergence of the Internet and e-commerce for the private international law. Using the Internet to conduct business brings up new situations that must be reflected and dealt with by law. It is to be solved whether just accommodation of current rules will be enough or new regulation will have to be adopted. At first the thesis describes specific characteristics of the Internet, such as low costs of addressing users regardless of their geographic location or possibility of performing contracts in digitalized form and legal consequences of these characteristics. The following chapter deals with principles from which stems the difference in between jurisdictional rules in common law and civil law states. It examines jurisdictional rules stated in Brussels I Regulation in relation to e-commerce, especially consumer contracts. These firm rules are aimed to secure predictability of forum and in times of the Internet they have to overcome some difficulties through autonomous definitions of European Court of Justice. The next chapter describes the approach of US courts to Internet related disputes. Since they have wide discretion they are able to react much more flexibly to technological developments. Their decisions therefore may be an inspiration for the...
