Denk, Martin ; Šturma, Pavel (advisor) ; Ondřej, Jan (referee)
The position and concept of custom in contemporary international law Summary: The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the position and concept of customary law in contemporary international law. The terms "position" and "concept" are used in the meaning of the actual status of the custom within the system of sources of the international law, as well as in the meaning of "value" or "usefulness" of customary law in contemporary international society, also regarding the discussion of authors concerning increasing pace and extent of international relations as a potential ground for diminishment or refusal custom as a valid source of international law. The reason why we chose this topic is, amongst others, to show that even today, under contemporary situation, customary law still have the value within the system of the sources of international law, and its' position should not be abolished or even significantly diminished. The thesis consists of three main chapters. First chapter provides the look into the history, theory and position of custom as a socio-legal phenomenon in different legal cultures in order to describe the key aspects of the view of each of those cultures on intrastate (or intra-cultural) custom and customary law, allowing to stress certain similarities and differences. Subsection one of this...

Bednář, Leoš ; Křesťanová, Veronika (advisor) ; Holcová, Irena (referee)
Audiovisual Works with Reference to Film Co-productions - Summary: The audiovisual works are the main theme of this thesis. I have chosen this theme, because these works are very important for our society and we can not ignore them. We have to consider this segment of our society from various and different perspectives. I mean the various branches of law, film theory, history, financing (economics). It is multidisciplinary area and it contains cultural, social, economical, educational and also international points, which help us to improve and simplify international and multicultural structures and relationships. The thesis is divided into six chapters. Chapter One is introductory and provides basic identification with the topic of the thesis. Chapter Two focuses on general definition of the words "audiovisual work". We have to define this type of work in legal terms and also in the other "interdisciplinary" terms. Chapter Three recalls the fact that this issue must be seen from the historical point of view. We have to study historical copyright law, publications from 30s and 40s of the twentieth century dealing with film law and also law journals from this time period (e.g. "Soutěž a tvorba"). These publications and journals significantly contributed to this theme in the discussion about various aspects of...

The function of money in business cycle theory
Smejkal, Tomáš ; Janíčko, Martin (advisor) ; Svoboda, Miroslav (referee)
This bachelor thesis is dealing with the topic money and especially emphasizing its function in business cycles. An ambition of this thesis is to resolve dilemma if money, as an important instrument in the real economy, can influence the fluctuation of economy. This thesis is based on the comparison of two distinct schools of economic thought- Post Keynesian and Austrian school. Both approaches despite different opinion on creation and function of money refuse the theory of money neutrality. The phenomenon of deflation is regarded equally from both schools, but Post Keynesian approach, which comes from a work of Irving Fisher, emphasizes negative impact of real debt increment on economy. On the other hand, Austrian School is aware of the unavoidable nature of deflation as a result of boom period, but by avoiding deflation the healing process in economy would be significantly slowed down. Thesis is then focusing on examination of allocation mistakes among individuals. Individuals are making mistakes, but Austrian theory demands further explanation of systematic framework of these mistakes. This view is applied on Minsky's financial instability hypothesis and institutional structure with emphasis on risk and creation of financial instruments. Last stadium of analysis is dealing with particular character of money supply. The Austrian perspective is discussed with reference to Post Keynesian theory of endogenous money and consequent repercussions for Austrian business cycle theory are highlighted. Even in the case that endogenous money theory infirm some of the aspects of Austrian cycle theory the methodological conflict occurs. On the basis of these particular comparisons the conclusion will try to decide if the business cycle is inherently present in every economy or if it is mainly caused by state interferences.

The Development of U.S. Foreign Policy toward China between 2001 and 2011 and the Strategic Standing of the U.S. and China in Asia
Nejedlá, Anna ; Bečka, Jan (advisor) ; Sehnálková, Jana (referee)
The theme of this Bachelor thesis is the American China policy between the years of 2001 and 2011 and the strategic position of the U.S. and China in Asia. Development of international relations during this era is very important for both states and also for the world because the emerging powers, including the PRC, have the potential to change the current worl order. The main objective of this thesis is to compare American China policy during the administrations of Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama and determine whether China poses a threat to the U.S. The first chapter attempts to assess whether the 9/11 attacks and the subsequent war against terrorism were an important watershed in U.S.-China relations since these attacks significantly affected the overall foreign policy of Washington. The second chapter describes Bush and Obama policies towards China within the framework of the U.S. foreign policy concepts of "candid, constructive, and cooperative relationship," "responsible stakeholder," "the Group of Two" (never became an official U.S. policy), and "strategic reassurance." The third chapter examines the main features of Chinese foreign policy, particularly on the basis of historical experience, the Confucian tradition, and foreign policy concepts of "multipolarity," "peaceful...

The Rediscovery of Symbol in Louis-Marie Chauvet
Bauerová, Kateřina ; Noble, Ivana (advisor) ; Hošek, Pavel (referee) ; Hušek, Vít (referee)
The main aim of my dissertation is to introduce, analyse, and critically evaluate the notion of symbol of a contemporary French sacramental theologian Louis-Marie Chauvet. He has significantly influenced the Western, especially Roman Catholic scene, but he is almost unknown in the Czech milieu. Chauvet's rehabilitation of a symbolic view of reality brings a possibility to speak about God's presence in a non- ideological way. He also brings a positive evaluation of body and corporality back into theology. In the first part of my work I map out the resources from which Chauvet draws in his notion of symbol. In particular I deal with Heidegger's early philosophy but also with Chauvet's use of psychoanalysis and his critical evaluation of older Thomist sacramental theology. The second part of my work is devoted to Chauvet's own notion of symbol. On the basis of his central works I analyse three topics linked with his approach to symbol: being, language and corporality. In the last part I critically appraise Chauvet's notion especially with respect to his use of Lacan's psychoanalytical theory. For some open questions that come out of this I look for alternatives in three French contemporary female authors. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Effect of cryopreservation on mouse sperm.
Veselá, Kateřina ; Pěknicová, Jana (referee) ; Hortová, Kateřina (advisor)
Cryopreservation or freezing of sperm in the reproductive biology is still actual topic. Today is the only method used for sperm storage, whether for the purposes of assisted reproduction, or for scientific purposes. However, this method has a negative impact on such stored cells and is therefore still a subject of many studies. Among the main causes of sperm damage in rodents there are inappropriately selected cryoprotective agents, poor or no elimination of oxidative stress generated during cryopreservation, as well as a poorly chosen speed and temperature of freezing. Correctly chosen procedures and the composition of the media in which sperm are stored, can significantly affect the quality of sperm. This bachelor theses focuses on the influence of cryopreservation on mouse spermatozoa. The main impact of this method includes the effect of freezing on sperm DNA, plasma membrane, acrosome, and sperm motility.
