Baumol's cost Disease in Czech Regional Opera Theatres
Poláček, Jiří ; Šťastná, Lenka (advisor) ; Martišková, Monika (referee)
This thesis examines the existence of Baumol's cost disease in Czech regional opera theatres. The study is divided into a theoretical and an empirical section. The theoretical section deals with Baumol's concept of cost disease and its impacts on a theatre, externalities arising from a theatre's operations, public subsidies, demand for arts and ticket prices and their impact on the theatre's income. The empirical section analyzes the existence and scope of the cost disease in selected theatres (Divadlo J. K. Tyla in Pilsen, Severočeské divadlo in Usti nad Labem, and Jihočeské divadlo in Ceske Budejovice). The examination has revealed the presence of the cost disease in all the theatres; however, the scope and the impact of the cost disease differ significantly from theatre to theatre. On the basis of these findings, the study concludes that theatres may counteract the cost disease by offering an attractive theatrical product, which allows for a continuous increase in revenues from ticket sales.

Pavlátová, Andrea ; Havlíček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Blahůtová Kavanová, Klára (referee)
The Development of Tibetan Cultural and Religious Identity among Tibetans Living outside of Historical Tibet The topic of my thesis was to find out changes in Tibetan society inside Tibet and in Tibetan exile in last 50. years and how do changes help to progress social capital. Inside Tibet is problem with high percent of nonliterary and high percent of incoming Han people, which cause that Tibetan people are getting on the edge of society, because they didn't have developed their human potential. The main problem is that Tibetan people don't know Chinese language well and this language is becoming more useful for daily life in Tibetan autonomous region. Tibetans, who are very religious, don't have opportunity to practice Tibetan Buddhism under communistic rule of Chine. Tibetans have to renounce His Holiness dalajlama and deny part of their Tibetan identity. Those reasons influence them to escape into exile. The second part of my thesis is concerned to describe push and pull factors of migration. As I found in materials, the main reasons to escape into exile were political, religion, education, economical problems and renounce dalajlama. In my research, Tibetan didn't divide those reasons to those categories, because they think of those problems in holistic way. The last part of thesis in...

Europeanization of substantive criminal law Petra Meinlová This master thesis is focused on the development of police and judicial cooperation in criminal matters in the European Union and the Europeanization of particular crimes. The introductory chapter defines basic terminology, the European Union with its powers, the European law and the main legal instruments with the effect on criminal law, and finally the part investigating the idea of Europeanization of criminal law. Chapter two focuses on the definitions of police and judicial cooperation in criminal matters. The cooperation in criminal matters is very problematic in relation to the state sovereignty, second part of the chapter outlines the main features of this relation. Chapter three describes the evolutionary process through which the European Union has acquired the competence over criminal law affairs. The cooperation in criminal matters is relatively new field of the European integration. The original purpose of the European integration was the economic cooperation with the target of creation the common market, the founding Treaties of European Community did not refer to the criminal law. The idea of an "European judicial space" was first introduced in the 1970s. Until 1993 criminal law was an...

Mortality development in Central Asian countries in 1986-2006
Abilov, Rustam ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Kučera, Tomáš (referee)
Mortality development in Central Asian countries in 1986-2006 Abstract Before the collapse of the Soviet Union, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan were more or less comparable in terms of their socioeconomic development. Despite some differences in overall mortality levels, the five former Soviet republics were also very close to each other in terms of directions of mortality trends by age, and cause-specific mortality patterns. After 1991, all the five countries experienced substantial political and social transformations, and the challenges associated with the transition from a socialist to a market economy system. The sudden changes brought numerous problems, such as rapid growth in unemployment, falling standards of living, and growing social and income inequalities. These factors contributed to the significant deterioration of the health situation in all the countries, but the size and the nature of the mortality crisis was different. This work examines patterns of mortality across the Central Asian countries using data from the middle of 1980s until 2006 years. Based on these analyses we conclude that the emergence of high mortality during the 1990s has been accompanied by increase in circulatory and external causes of death.

Development of farm animal protection in the Czech Republic
Pilařová, Anna ; Kracíková, Olga (advisor) ; Hofmanová, Barbora (referee)
Animal welfare has been recently increasingly discussed topic. Humanity ceases to be indefferent toward the fate of animals and the world returns to a more natural ways of life. This is connected with opinions, globally supporting trend of ecological or bio breeding. The issue is undoubtedly in cost. Most of end users are mainly influenced by price and they are forced to buy a cheaper product, even knowing these are not results of welfare breeding. Thus the goal should be higher state support of regional farmers, eco and bio breedings and lowering the production of mass breedings. The first part of this thesis sums up the history of breeding of agricultural animals in the region of Czech republic since zero concern in careful breeding, through first mentions of animal welfare to the law of Czech national comittee nr. 246/1992 Sb., for protection of animals against abuse, which contains most complex findings and ethological experiences in this field. In the second part are listed tables from Ministry of justice, which show evolution of crimes in the field of animal abuse in our area since 1992 till 2015. It is demonstrated in the tables, that the number of sentenced offenders in animal abuse rises. Following is description of judicial rulings obtained from relevant courts. The crime is always briefly described and then is stated the sentencing for crime committed. The results are, that the law nr. 246/1992 Sb. for protection of animals against abuse is very well designed, but the practical application is insufficient. The most of court cases ends up in probation, no matter of a motive, or death of the animal. Problematic is also the difference of definition of the animal according to different laws. Czech republic did a lot for protection of agricultural animals in its area, but it is also undoubtedly needed among other things to refine recent formulation of the law for protection of animals against abuse animal is a vertebrate except human and embryo, because this definition is insufficient and not correlating with the most advanced definitions of the term, conducted by new Civil code. The last part of this thesis contains some non-government organisations dealing with agricultural animals protection in Czech republic and in the whole world.
