Importance of nurse´s work providing nurishment to senior patients

Theoretical Foundations Ageing and old age are natural parts of every individual during their lives. Most of the population wants to live an active life of the best quality possible. Nutrition is a factor that influences healthy aging most significantly. Adequate nutrition plays an important role in maintaining the quality of life and good physical condition. Nutritional needs of the elderly are highly specific. The nutritional needs of the elderly are defined mainly by changes in the organism and a wide range of influencing factors resulting from a person's lifestyle. An important role is played especially by eating habits, social and cultural environment, education, social status, economic standards and, ultimately, health and psychological condition of a person. Proper nutrition of the elderly contributes to their health and wellbeing; it is also important for recovery from the illnesses to which the elderly are more vulnerable. When providing nutrition to the elderly in hospitals, the role of nurses is important. Objective of the Thesis Four objectives were specified for the thesis: 1 To find out whether nurses follow the principles of providing nutrition to the elderly. 2 To identify the most common factors that affect nutrition of the elderly in hospitals. 3 To map the most common nutritional disorders in the elderly occurring in hospitals. 4 To find out what diet is the most common in the elderly staying in hospitals. Methodology The research qualitative inquiry was conducted in the form of covert observation. The objects of observation were the nurses working at a department of aftercare, which were observed in serving food to the elderly. The covert observations were complemented with depth interviews, also with the observed nurses working at the department aftercare. The observations were processed in Microsoft Excel in the form of tables and the interviews were processed in the Atlas.ti programme. Results The observations of the nurses in serving of food to the elderly showed that all the observed nurses failed to comply with the principles of providing nutrition to the elderly in the hospital. More or less each of the observed nurses made some mistakes. The most frequently occurring mistakes were as follows: While serving food, the nurses did not use aprons or serving overalls; the nurses did not prevent direct hand contact with the food. Almost half of the observed nurses did not provide the patients with sufficient time and the support to the patients while serving the food by the observed nurses was also inadequate. Further, nearly half of the observed nurses did not wish a Bon appetite to the patients. Also noteworthy is the latest most frequent mistake: nearly half of the nurses did not put away their aids after serving food. In the interviews, the nurses surveyed identified the most frequent factors influencing nutrition of the elderly in hospitals as follows: biological changes in old age, various types of dementia, psychological condition of the individual, co-morbidities, medication use, eating habits of the individual, the state of dentition (dental prosthesis), and the influence of the family. The most common nutritional disorders identified were as follows: absence of appetite, dehydration, excess weight, obesity and malnutrition. The most common diets eaten by the elderly in hospitals were identified as follows: diets no. 3, 9, 4, 0 and also diets in ground form, puree form and food served through an NGS (nasogastric tube). Conclusion Based on the research survey and the review of expert literature, a standard of nursing care, called "Serving food to patients with deficient self-care in nutrition", was designed for nursing staff. Nursing staff will have the opportunity to use the manual that will serve them as good practice when serving food to patients with deficient self-care in nutrition, and nurses will not consider the activity as a routine procedure.

Irrationality in the decision- making of an individual as an economic entity in the territory of the Czech Republic

The main objective of this thesis is an in-depth analysis of the decision-making process on issues of economic nature for individuals in the Czech Republic. The degree of rationality occurring in consumer behavior is evaluated based on lessons learned. The theoretical section is concerned with the economic aspect of the decision-making process, which mainly includes knowledge of neoclassical theory, whose basis is the cardinal and ordinal concept of utility maximization. Subsequently there are introduced the alternative approaches to decision making, focusing on the subjective aspects of human reasoning. Using the mutual synthesis of these approaches, the author draws a term behavioral economics, specific elements of which constitute a substantive content of the whole work. The practical section verifies the hypothesis that the decision-making contradicts the theory of rational individual conduct. Data collected through the questionnaire is subjected to analytical procedures by which the stated hypothesis was verified.

Fiscal rules in selected EU countries between 2004-2015: sensible method for consolidation of public finances or fad of politicians?

The subject of fiscal rules is very topical issue. The rise of public debt in certain developed countries resulted in what is sometimes called "debt crisis". Debt of those countries which is higher than their annual gross domestic product is viewed as unpayable by some economists. The main objective of this thesis has been to prove or disprove hypothesis that the fiscal rules studied in this paper are an effective solution for public finance consolidation. This verification was based on the analysis of fiscal rules functioning in selected countries between 2004 and 2015. As per results of analysis the paper aims to give recommendations for the Czech financial constitution proposal. The actual results of inquiry proved the hypothesis. Well-chosen fiscal rules are the right way towards fiscal consolidation, provided they are observed. Fiscal rules making thus requires an emphasis to be placed on the well-formulated exit clauses altogether with prospective sanctions. The current Czech financial constitution proposal is built on the correctly picked fiscal rule type, although the reference value lacks economic sense and it would not lead, with a high degree of probability, towards fiscal consolidation.

Systém odměňování v malém IT podniku

The topic of this thesis is reward management and its application in a small-sized IT enterprise. Its goals are to properly document and describe current reward system in the company, evaluate the system and recommend improvements for the system. The first two goals are reached via thorough research of the company through semi-structured interviews, employee satisfaction survey, participant observation and document examination and the last one by applying principles from the current literature and education to the results of the two previous goals. The findings are that the reward system, despite growing organically instead of designed, is relatively effective in some areas, but needs improvement in other areas. The main improvement areas are motivation by contingent pay, communication management and performance management. Relatively well working rewards are especially non-financial reward connected to the work environment and work itself.

SCRUM methodology and its uses in the innovation process of the company

Diploma thesis deals with SCRUM methodology and its uses in innovation management. The main objective of the thesis is creation of a specific framework which will enable to use SCRUM methodology in the innovation process. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first part presents theoretical framework important for the main research. This part contains literature review and research dedicated to the SCRUM methodology and innovation process. The second part of the thesis deals with mapping of the SCRUM methodology to Hladik's innovation process. This part also contains own design of the innovation management process. The third part of the thesis is dedicated to the case study. The case study uses described innovation management process for verification of the hypothesis saying that is possible to use SCRUM methodology in the innovation process. The author's contribution lies in creation of a framework which provides agile alternative to the classical innovation management models.

Analysis of the russian investment environment focused on foreign direct investment in the selected countries of BRICS

The aim of this Master thesis is to analyze investment environment of the Russian Federation by focusing on foreign direct investment in the selected countries of BRICS cluster. First chapter is dedicated to the theoretical definition of the investment climate, observation methods such as PESTEL and SWOT analysis, indexes of the multinational organisation (Global Competitivness Index, Ease of Doing Business a Index of Economic Freedom). This chapter also defines investment incentives and foreign direct investment together with typology of this two terms. Second chapter focuses on the Russian investment policy especially on legislative and administrative investment regulation. Last part of this chapter focuses on development of special economic zones, which parcipate in alocation of the foreign direct investment in Russia the most. At the end of this thesis there are strenghts and weaknesses of the russian investment environment together with opportunities and threats described.

IT requirements management of insurance company

The first part of thesis deals with theoretical knowledge, thus defining the concepts of recommendations from the field of requirements management. The second part focuses on the identification, analysis and subsequend design solutions to problems arising from working with the requirements. Methods for identifying problems are carried out workshop, participant observation and interviews with employees from the IT sector of the insurance company. The outputs of this work are proposals for improving requirements management, some of them are successfully applied in Kooperativa. The first draft, which was applied to create a process library. Further, of four different types of prioritization was selected and applied method that is defined by ITIL. Other outputs are design of new user interface of requirements software and starting to design a Change Advisory Board, which is compared to ITIL enhanced with additional features. Further was established Business Consultant Department, which has task of efficiently collecting client requirements and the supporting documents were created for this department.

Immunological profile of patients with multiple sclerosis

Immunological profile of multiple sclerosis patients Abstrakt Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune neurodegenerative disease affecting predominantly the white matter of the CNS and the spinal cord. The mechanism of disease progression is not yet fully understood. In this study we focused on a comparison of selected immunological markers between patients with multiple sclerosis who were naïve newly diagnosed, subsequently treated with Avonex (IFNβ1a) and healthy donors. The T cells (particulary cytotoxic CD8+ T cells) are the major population involved in pathogenesis of MS causing the demyelization of axons. Subpopulation of CD161+ Th cells has a potential to be very important in this process. We focused on the role of NK cells phenotype and function in autoimmune response of patients and their changes during the therapeutic intervention. Using flow cytometry we analyzed the distribution of NK, NKT, T cells and monocytes with special regard to the expression of CD161 and NKG2D molecules on their surface. We observed increase counts of CD161+ cells in subpopulations NK CD56bright , NK CD56dim , Th, Tc CD8bright , Tc CD8dim and decrease counts of NKG2D+ cells in subpopulations NK CD56bright , NK CD56dim , NKT, Th, Tc CD8bright , Tc CD8dim and monocytes. Diversity and intercultural aspects of the functioning of a company

The thesis concentrates on culture, its levels and characteristics, including business culture. The first part focuses on cultural diversity and management of diversity in business culture, with emphasis on the related incorrect tendencies, caused by various culturally conditioned biases. The following part considers different aspects of intercultural communication, its possible barriers and the question of intercultural training. The practical part analyses an existing multinational corporation, particularly with regards to its corporate values, practices, corporate diversity and intercultural training. Furthermore, this part is complemented with a study of the culturally conditioned difficulties within the company, the influence of existing cultural differences on employee communication and cooperation, as well as on intercultural training. The outcome of the study are recommendations, which serve as a base for potential modifications of the corresponding company processes.

Process Analysis As the Basis for the Implementation of a New Information System

The main objective of this thesis is to analyze the processes in the company POP service, Ltd., also to analyze the current problem in this company and to recommend and propose measures which eliminate the causes of the emergence of the problem. The causes originate from the aspects of the management of people and processes are identified through the analysis of processes associated with the problem and eliminated on the basis of proposals metrics and responsibilities for these processes. The theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to concepts in the field of process management. The theoretical part characterizes these concepts process management, business processes, process analysis and process modeling methods, process maps, graphical notation for writing business processes, business process improvement and analysis organization. In the second part of the thesis is presented the examined organizations POP service, Ltd.. Based on the analysis of the current state are defined vision, mission and goals of the organization. Then there is described a procedure of the analysis of the current state, which is process analysis and proposal of selected processes, metrics and responsibilities for these processes. Methods of analysis are SWOT analysis, analysis of the activities, structured interviews and process analysis. The result of this thesis is to analyze the selection of processes of the company POP service, Ltd., proposal metrics, define jobs and responsibilities and suggestions for improving the selected process.
