Šmídek, Martin ; Kohut, Pavel Vojtěch (advisor) ; Sládek, Karel (referee)
Title : Spiritual life of a male laic. Theological and psychological base, social metamorphosis and expectations. Keywords : male spirituality, masculinity, marriage life, gender studies, spiritual theology. Annotation : Spiritual life of a man living in a marriage is explored from various points of view. Studying biblical narratives about the creation of man showed constitutive differences between male and female, as well as their special symmetry connected with life roles. Differences in Jesus' behaviour towards a man or a woman were observed and classified. Notion of "social womb" used in family psychotherapy was generalized to suit the description of a male spiritual life in the context of a marriage and family life. Metamorphosis of a father's status in history was briefly shown and focus was made on contemporary situation. Influences of feminism and gender studies were also explored. Statistical surveys showing significant diminution of Christianity in the Czech Republic lead to the idea of "latent spirituality" which was proposed for the sake of possibility to study the early stages of a male's belief. Examples of feedback loops among biological, psychological and spiritual processes were shown in their positive and negative roles.

Domestic violence as a social problem in České Budějovice district
ŠÍMOVÁ, Ivana
Violence at home, a.k.a. home violence, is a spiraling cycle of brutality committed in private between closely related persons. Such violence can by physical, psychological, sexual, economic or social, with the roles of the attacker and the victim clearly defined and never changing. Anyone can be exposed to home violence, irrespective of her or his social position, education, job, sex, age, religion, or the type of partnership that people live in. Advanced societies have developed a tendency to tackle the issue, and the awareness of the problem has improved. In our country this favorable development is driven primarily by the newly enacted regulations and the keener interest stirred up in the public. The thesis aimed to investigate the general public awareness of home violence within the District of České Budějovice. As followed from the survey, the public living in the District is well aware of the issue. The results showed that as much as 69% of respondents knew about home violence, while the remaining 31% were ignorant of the problem. Hypothesis: Females are better informed about home violence than males - confirmed by comparison between what the women and the men knew about the issue. The difference encountered, however, was just minor. Hypothesis: People living in the District of České Budějovice are not knowledgeable about changes newly passed in Act 135/200 to solve the problem of violence at home - not confirmed. The majority of respondents heard of the Act and were able to specify at least the essential changes it enacted. The change the respondents mentioned most often was the 10 day period of flat-eviction order. It comes as a matter of interest that males were better aware of the Act and could better quote the changes it introduced. Hypothesis: The public accepts as true that home violence is confined to just problem-ridden families - not confirmed. Eighty seven percent of females and 81% of males were convinced that home violence was not limited to only such families. Merely 13% of females and 19% of males believed the home violence was a matter of the problem-ridden families. The survey results showed that the public living in the District of České Budějovice had dropped this myth, i.e. they had not seen the hypothesis as truthful. The thesis can serve as a source of information for the lay public, as a piece of instruction material for the students of the University of South Bohemia, or it could also be given to the Intervention Center to be distributed among the victims of home violence.

Social work with a family - significance of father's role in the family for this role
Frýdlová, Anna ; Vodáčková, Daniela (advisor) ; Venglářová, Martina (referee)
Topic of the work was chosen on the basis of experience and four-year practise in working with families as a part of family re-institution. During the years of working with families, in a significantly woman-staffed profession it has been proven how difficult it is to get also fathers involved into therapeutic work with families and into removing difficulties in childcare. In most cases fathers perceived their role as very marginal. They did not take part in the appointments and avoided them. They were not used to being present there, in most cases they considered these appointments as an issue for mothers and also a matter belonging to the world of women. Over the years we were learning how fathers shall be approached, we asked ourselves whether such approach differs from the way of approaching mothers. Or whether a different language style shall be used? What else can be done in order to involve father into reconstruction of family relations from the social worker point of view? How fathers can be activated and accentuated? In this work I decided to present techniques, which we used and which were the ones that helped us to accentuate the father's role, to support him and to make him engaged into what is going on in the family and to help the children. My work deals with the family theory, history of its...

The opinion of the general public regarding the raising of children by homosexual couples
CIPÍNOVÁ, Veronika
The thesis deals with the opinion of the general public on children upbringing by homosexual couples. I chose the topic as it is interesting and up-to-date. The main goal of the thesis was to find out the opinion of the general public on children upbringing by homosexual couples and a partial aim focused on finding out which gender is more tolerant to these problems. The theoretical part of the thesis is aimed at characterizing the basic terms related to homosexuality and homosexual cohabitation. A substantial part is dedicated to Act No. 115/2006 Col. on registered partnership, where I focus on the rights and obligations of partners, maintenance obligation and parental responsibility of the pair for a child. This part also deals with family, homoparental family and children upbringing in homoparental families, where I mention the reasons for and against children upbringing in such families. Last but not least I deal with the possibilities of homosexuals to become parents. The practical part includes a research, which was performed by means of questionnaires distributed to the general public. I asked the respondents about their awareness of Act No. 115/2006 Col. on registered partnership. I tried to find out whether the respondents were aware of the act, whether they agreed with children upbringing in homoparental families and if they could imagine growing up in such a family. I was also interested in respondents? opinion on assisted reproduction in lesbian women and their approach to children upbringing by homosexual couples. Most of the respondents agree in the questions related to children upbringing by homosexual couples.
