The Child in the Adult's World
BRABCOVÁ, Petra
This bachelor thesis adresses the interpretation and comparison of three narrative texts of Anglophone literature, namely The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison, Black Swan Green by David Mitchell and The Road by Cormac McCarthy, whilst focusing on child protagonist, his feelings and sentiments. This thesis aims to characterize alterations and reactions of a child which are caused by confrontations with his surroundings and the adult world and which he reflects through a child's eye. This characterization is subsequently confronted with the views of contemporary developmental psychology.

Enviromental politics in the EU. Comparative study of two member states: Germany and Spain
Garrido López, Silvia ; Riegl, Martin (advisor) ; Plechanovová, Běla (referee)
In a world that is increasingly growing in awareness on the detrimental effects that global warming may have on nature and human population in the short and long run, it seems reasonable to have a look at how the country which is going to be more affected by it in the EU is tackling it. Spain is going to be the country more affected by the increase of global surface temperatures but is going to be the one lagging behind in regards to CO2 reduction as established by the Kyoto Protocol. In order to know the reasons why Spain is at the bottom of the list against global warming among western European countries we have carried out a comparative study with one of the more successful member states on environmental protection in the EU, Germany. By comparing them we wanted to highlight how their different historical past combined with the political choices of their different leaders and participation of their citizens means a lot in their environmental outcome. We have made a research on their historical economic background since after WWII and also had a look at the different government approaches towards the environment and global warming. We have also looked at the evolution of green parties and how the civil society, media and NGOs had a say on this matter. The results we found is that after WWII...

This thesis introduces trends in information systems mainly focusing on Green ICT. It is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. At first, the objectives, structure of work and research based on available domestic and foreign sources are defined. The following chapter is devoted to concept of trend and its impact on the ICT sector along with a presentation of past and current trends. The key part of the first half of the work is a chapter concerning sustainable ICT. It contains a definition of the concept, reasons of devising, opportunities for greater usage, current state in the world, rankings of suppliers and "green" companies. The practical part describes the questionnaire distributed as well as a presentation of hypotheses for verification. It is followed by analysis of gathered data together with an intercomparison of several selected questions. The chapter concludes with evaluation of the stated hypotheses. The last section mentions important findings, assesses a level of fulfillment of the objectives and present possible future extension of the topic.

Analýza společenské odpovědnosti firem v nejvýznamějších ICT společnostech z úhlu pohledu Green IT
Kovalenko, Iryna ; Basl, Josef (advisor) ; Buchalcevová, Alena (referee)
This thesis is based on the concept of corporate social responsibility in world class ICT companies. This relatively new way of managing business became very popular among big corporations which are trying to reduce their environmental footprint while following the path of sustainable development. The aim of this study is to prove the importance of Green IT in the current dynamically developing world of ICT, and to explore the area of sustainability from the Green IT perspective. That is why three main areas are defined: sustainable development, corporate social responsibility and Green IT. The first part of the thesis covers interconnectivity between those terms. The next part represents the process of launching green initiatives into a corporate business model. It describes all the necessary steps of implementation, especially showing the important legislative aspects which help to prevent many potential issues. These practices are based on the MMDIS methodology and its conceptual Model of Integration. Another target of this thesis is to define the leading ICT vendors from all the perspectives -- as the most socially responsible company and the most preferable employer. The obtained results distinguish five companies from the others: Hewlett-Packard, Dell, IBM, Intel and Microsoft. The key achievement and added value of the thesis is the identification of the most problematic areas in the analyzed companies and presentation of their Green IT solution to prevent following issues.

Smart Europe in Todays World
Karasová, Natalie ; Krejčová, Nikola (advisor) ; Kouřilová, Jana (referee)
With the twenty-first century bringing a completely new economic environment, the traditional way of economic growth shifted from the industrial concept towards knowledge-based economy. Skills, creativity, and knowledge as well as innovation capacity have become the significant aspects of economic activity. However, such transformation has created various problems and risks, putting regions into a position to review the management of their overall development. Against this background, the "smart model" increased in popularity in the policy area. This thesis outlines a summary of the smart concept and evaluates selected European NUTS2 regions based on the smart city approach. It discusses a focused overview of diverse definitions of the term smart city and its conceptual relatives in order to find out factors determining the performance of a successful smart area. The analysis exploits the most recent version of Eurostat and ESPON regional datasets to evaluate the smartness of selected 177 NUTS 2. Subsequently, the thesis offers a strategic division of selected NUTS 2 regions into three main categories; very smart, smart and less smart. The paper finds that the high concentration of R&D, high level of well-educated individuals, good focus on green regional economy and good global accessibility are among the main characteristics of the selected groups. The results show that out of 177 studied regions, 52 are categorized as very smart, 66 as smart regions and 59 as less smart regions. Additionally, the paper searches for the key factors determining the regional smartness. The findings explore that high level of innovation, good Internet accessibility, and high concentration of educated population together with good overall economic performance are among the most influential factors determining the regional smartness. Together the whole analysis creates a new view on the measurement of smartness in regional context.

National socialist party of Czech workers and peasants
Kyselák, Milan ; Hlavačka, Milan (advisor) ; Rychlík, Jan (referee)
National socialist Party of Czech workers and peasants (Party of green svastika) was one of important organizations of Czech fascists. The Party operated in the years 1939 - 1942, in the time of Protectorate Czech - Moravia, and included 2,000 members. The Party was dangerous first of all because of its open cooperation with occupation institutions of Nazi Germany. The Party operated especially in Middle and East Moravia, furthermore in Prague. The Party gained its biggest boom in the years 1940 - 1941. The founder and leader of the Party was F. M. Mlcoch from the UhliCice village by Kojetin. He studied service academy in Marburg. After that he was a soldier of the AustroHungarian army, where he defrauded money and escaped abroad. Later he came back to Austro-Hungary, and was punished for what he had done. At the beginning of the First World War Mlcoch entered the army again and fighted at the east front from where he deserted into the captivity of the enemy. He was a legionnaire in Russia for a while, later became a soldier of the Russian Bolshevik's army. After the War he came back to Czechoslovakia, where he entered the Czechoslovakian army for a short time, but was dismissed. He became an active communist and then was involved in the communistic putsch, for which he was sentenced to a half-year...

The increase of trading has created many environmental, ecological, social and ethical problems. The main concern across all industries is to create more sustainable, eco-friendly and ethical manufacturing processes. Only by influence consumer's purchasing behavior there might be the demand for eco-green products. The fashion and textile industry as one of the main contributor to the world's economy is one of the main environmental polluter (e.g.: soil, lakes, river and air). Recently, many young fashion designers started to offer eco-green fashion to the market. This new phenomenon might change the course of the world fashion industry. The goal of this research is to find out the real demand for eco-green products and its impacts on the traditional methods of fashion manufacturing. Three geographical areas where chosen to represent consumption side (US and EU (UK)) and manufacturing side (China). The specific fashion garment was chosen to demonstrate detailed analysis of the manufacturing processes and its new eco-green formula -- the denim jeans. The primary and secondary research approaches were chosen to cover the whole industrial view on this phenomenon. The outcome of the research showed that the major impact was on the general consumer's purchasing behavior and their life style. It is a new trend and concept that is reshaping the traditional fashion business models. Denim jeans industry leaders such as Levi's Strauss are in process of implementing eco-green, ethical and fair-trade factors into their long-term strategy.

Children's View of Narration in Selected Pieces of Anglo-American Prose
BRABCOVÁ, Petra
The presented thesis focuses on the phenomenon of child narrator/protagonist in the role of the main actor and intermediary of fictional world in literature for adults. The first chapter is devoted mainly to the theoretical concept of narrator as a significant narratological category. The second chapter presents literature for children and youth in comparison to literature primarily intended for adult readers and looks for their mutual inspirations. Above all, the concept of children aspect is defined. In the practical part, the thesis aims for stylistic analysis, thematic interpretation and comparison of four narrative texts from Anglophone literature. These are The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison, Black Swan Green by David Mitchell, Pigeon English by Stephen Kelman and Cormac McCarthy's The Road. These texts, having a child narrator/protagonist in common, are not primarily intended to be read by children. I see this as a certain strategy of writers, which however fully functions only in such a case, when the authenticity of child narrator/protagonist is maintained. Thus, such elements which we could connect with the concept of children aspect are deliberately used there. My objective is therefore to link the concept of children aspect with a specifically defined literature for adults. I also inquire why child narrators/protagonists are used in literature for adults and what their functions are, how and to what extent can a child narrator/protagonist convey fictional world, what the children in the followed texts are like, how the perceive the world around them, how they impart to us what they see, think and feel, and what possibilities of description of the world through a child's eyes it offers to authors.

Influence of water deficit on physiological characteristics of selected species of green leafy vegetables
Kraus, Kamil ; Hnilička, František (advisor) ; Dana, Dana (referee)
The harmful influences on plants are called stress factors. The stress itself does not slow down only vital functions of plants but influences directly the size and quality of final product as well. Worldwide, we count the so called abiotic stresses as the most significant crop production stressors. These include in recent years extremely high temperatures and unequal rainfall distribution both areal and during vegetation period. The water deficit (drought) belongs to the most important stress factors in agriculture. It influences crop production all over the world. Also vegetables are responsive to water deficit, especially the species with huge amount of water in their tissue. Therefore, the goal of this thesis is to assess the impact of water stress on gas exchange and photosynthetic activity of mangold "Beta vulgaris", salad rocket "Eruca sativa" and lettuce "Lactuca sativa", which were placed at water deficit. The plants - mangold, salad rocket and lettuce - were grown in a partly controlled greenhouse conditions under the Department of Botany and Plant Physiology FAPPZ ČZU in Prague. The plants were grown at a temperature of 25°C in daytime and 18°C at night under natural light conditions. They were grown in containers of size of 11x11 cm in a mixture of garden substrate A and silica sand in the ration 2:1. The experimental scheme included two variants - control and stressed. The control group of plants was watered, and the second half of plants was left under stress for 22 days, when the water deficit was induced by gradual drying for one month, the experiment took place from 1.6 2015 to 22.6 2015. The speed of gas exchange by plants was measured by apparatus LCpro+. From the values of photosynthesis and transpiration water use efficiency (WUE) and chlorophyll fluorescence were calculated. The gained results proved difference at reaction to water stress between observed kinds of leaf vegetables. The speed of photosynthesis and transpiration of observed plant species was measured, which decreased due to impact of water deficit. The average speed of photosynthesis of stressed plants was the lowest by lettuce (11,16 "mikro"mol CO2.m-2.s-1), contrarily the highest by mangold (13,2"mikro"mol CO2.m-2.s-1). In case of control plants was the lowest speed of photosynthesis noticed by lettuce (12,03"mikro"mol CO2.m-2.s-1) and the highest by mangold (14,00"mikro"mol CO2.m-2.s-1). In comparison with control group, the speed of photosynthesis of lettuce decreased significantly by impact of water deficit (difference make 7,23 %). On the other hand the lowest decrease of photosynthesis from stressed plants 5,93% was noticed for mangold. In case of speed of transpiration, it is possible to note, that the lowest transpiration of control group shows mangold with the average speed of transpiration 1,82 mmol H2O.m-2.s-1, by contrast the highest transpiration was measured by lettuce 3,20 mmol H2O. m-2.s-1. In the case of stressed plants moved the average speed of transpiration between 1,54 mmol H2O.m-2.s-1 for lettuce and 1,79 (mmol H2O.m-2.s-1) for mangold. Also, between control and stressed plants of the same species were found differences, and salad rocket reacted to stress of drought more sensitively and mangold less sensitively. For these two plant species was noted decrease of transpiration in the amount of 23,80% and 1,76%. From the measured value of photosynthesis and transpiration was calculated water use efficiency (WUE). The calculated values show that stressed plants have higher value of WUE in comparison to control plants. The lowest water efficiency from control plants produced salad rocket (6.51 x 10-3), while the highest mangold (10.31 x 10-3). In the case of stressed plants was the lowest value of WUE noted for salad rocket (8.96 x 10-3), while for mangold was the highest (10.71 x 10-3). Chlorophyll fluorescence of the experimental plants was also measured. This characteristic was not influenced by plant species, because in case of control plants, there were no differences found between observed plant species. The lowest difference in value of fluorescence had plants of lettuce (0,69) while the highest mangold and salad rocket (0,7). In conclusion it is possible to note, that more sensitive to water deficit are plants of lettuce. As more tolerant to water deficit seems mangold and salad rocket.

Wiesnerová, Lucie ; Jablonský, Ivan (advisor) ; Radomír, Radomír (referee)
Cultivation of edible mushrooms in the world is becoming increasingly popular. People are increasingly aware of their positive effects and therefore are mushrooms used not only in restaurants but also increasingly in human and veterinary medicine. With their growing, but also associated infestation of cultivated cultures of mushrooms by pests and diseases. The farms are most often appear green mold of the genus Trichoderma which cause considerable losses. When growing oyster mushroom is the biggest problem Trichoderma pleuroti, the cultivation of Agaricus is a Trichoderma aggressivum. Therefore, the research of protection against these fungi and important in recent years, importance. Presented work studies the tolerance selected strains of Pleurotus ostreatus against Trichoderma pleuroti and different heat treatments of the substrate. In experiments was examined relationship between Pleurotus ostreatus, Trichoderma pleuroti and Bacillus subtilis, as well as various forms of heat treatment of the substrate and its enrichment. The experiments were statistically analyzed using ANOVA. In the case of a common growth Trichoderma pleuroti and Bacillus subtilis was Trichoderma pleuroti considerably restricted, especially in the case of surface inoculation of Bacillus subtilis. Also in a common growth of Bacillus subtilis and Pleurotus ostreatus, Pleurotus ostreatus growth was limited by surface inoculation of Bacillus subtilis was to restrict the growth of Pleurotus ostreatus pronounced. In the case of the fermentation substrate and subsequent heat treatment, it was found that the enrichment of the substrate and its subsequent fermentation treatment is not suitable for the growth of mycelia of Pleurotus ostreatus. In case the substrate has been infected Trichoderma pleuroti the most appropriate treatment showed fermentation substrate and subsequent heat treatment at 60 ° C. Adding mingled substrate is not proved crucial for the growth of mycelium Pleurotus ostreatus.
