Stalinist Period in Czechoslovakia - Its Interpretation and Teaching in Secondary Education

1950s may be classified as one of the worst periods in Czechoslovakia's history. The totalitarian communist regime in the period between 1948 and 1953 is called the Stalinism. The primary objective hereof was to evaluate teaching about the Stalinism period in Czechoslovakia in secondary schools, in particular, to assess the scope of correctness and completeness of the related curriculum and teaching methods. The secondary objective hereof was to introduce and describe the Stalinism as a typical example of totalitarianism and to define crucial elements of this non-democratic form of government using the example of Czechoslovakia from 1948 to 1953. The thesis proceeds from the theoretical part via a case study to the practical part. The first part classifies totalitarianism, defines its historical outset and determines its main features. The second chapter describes and explains the Stalinism, which is a typical example of totalitarianism having functioned in practice in the Soviet Union from where it spread to the majority of the Communist countries, including Czechoslovakia. The third chapter explains the practical application of the Stalinism elements and methods used to control a society according to the Soviet model using the example of Czechoslovakia from 1948 to 1953. The introduction to philosophy at general upper secondary schools as a didactic problem

This diploma thesis is devoted to the didactics of philosophy, specifically focusing on the topic of teaching introduction to philosophy at general upper secondary schools. It views this issue as a didactic problem, thereby establishing a central perspective, which is a didactic perspective. On the basis of the literature, the thesis first unpacks the basic aspects of the didactics of philosophy, which include the teaching objectives of general upper secondary school philosophy, models of teaching according to the way the curriculum is structured or the didactic principles of teaching philosophy. Subsequently, the thesis focuses directly on the issue of initiation and names the key moments of initiating the teaching of philosophy. Next, the thesis focuses its attention on selected philosophy textbooks for secondary schools. It analyses their introductory chapters, focusing in particular on whether the textbook's conception respects the theoretical suggestions made in didactic-philosophical publications. Specific examples from the textbooks are commented on with references to the theory presented in the previous chapters of this thesis, while presenting possibilities for variations in the textbook texts and exercises. Implementace genderové problematiky do výuky

The thesis addresses the effective inclusion of gender and feminism issues into education. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the basic concepts of gender and feminism, their development, and current issues - mainly targeting the topics of gender roles and stereotypes in society, feminized positions, and the issue of gender pay-gap. The following part of the thesis focuses on the area of the Czech education system and tries to answer these associated questions: Are some of the mentioned stereotypes applied in Czech education? How does gender-sensitive education work? How is feminism viewed within Civic Education? The practical part of the thesis is then devoted to the application of the theoretical knowledge and shows the model lessons addressing the topic of feminism and gender, included in the curriculum of Civic Education. These lessons were used in lessons of Civic Education at the EDUCAnet Grammar School České Budějovice s.r.o. Prior to the implementation of these lessons, students filled in a questionnaire focused on the topic of gender and feminism. After completing the lessons, a reflection on the effectiveness and their impact on the students was conducted.
Výuka výchovy k občanství a základů společenských věd během pandemie covid-19

Between 2020 and 2021, the whole world was dealing with a coronavirus pandemic that had a major impact on education. An unprecedented number of pupils and students found themselves in distance learning for which they were unprepared. The purpose of this paper is to determine what impact distance education has had on the teaching of civics and social studies. In the beginning of the thesis, the concept of key competences will be discussed and the quality of teaching of civics and social studies during traditional face-to-face teaching will be analysed. In the next part of the thesis, the course of the pandemic in the Czech Republic and its impact on the whole educational system will be analysed in detail. In the final part of the thesis, the author will try to answer the question whether it is possible to teach these subjects fully during distance education and will investigate the experience of distance learning of teachers of these subjects in České Budějovice.

This diploma thesis was focused on the influence of family on the school success of lower secondary students. Theoretical part of the thesis was created on the base of compilation and comparison of literature. The experimental part was made by qualitative research. The aim of this part was to explore more deeply the influence of divorce on school success of lower secondary students especially at the subjects English and Civics. Teacher of humanities in contemporary school and society

The thesis is focused on the role of teachers of social subjects in contemporary schools and society. The opening chapter deals with the specifics of the teaching profession and current issues that are in relationship with teacher. In this thesis, emphasis is placed on the analysis of teacher's pedagogical approach to teaching. One of the most important part of this work are interviews with teachers of civics and the social sciences and inspection of classes. Using interviews, observation and study of literature, I outlined the opportunities and challenges which are offered to civics and the social sciences teachers. The practical outcome of this thesis is to propose the model of teaching of social-education seminars for the fourth year of gymnasium. Teacher competence development for leading students to active citizenship

The bachelor thesis is dedicated to the development of active civic attitude among pupils and to teacher education in this field. Active citizenship education is internationally recognized as a key aim of education and, along with current developments, its importance is ever growing. The aim of the paper is to research the value of the topic in the Czech environment, and whether it is integrated into teacher education. The theoretical part of the paper is dedicated to the definition of the topic, the possibilities of its development in the classroom, the specifics of teacher education in this regard, and available methodological resources. In the practical part, a quantitative survey was carried out among the students of the Faculty of Education at the Charles University, accompanied by a qualitative research among the representatives of the academy, as well as of the non-governmental sector. The hypothesises of the paper were verified by the survey: there is a great emphasis to the topic from the side of the teacher educators as well as of the students of teaching; currently, however, its application in practice is limited. From the side of the faculty, there is a growing tendention to cooperate with the non-governmental organisations, which dispose of high quality resources in teacher education...
