Aerodynamic design of wind turbine
Chromec, Tomáš ; Fiedler, Jan (referee) ; Škorpík, Jiří (advisor)
This master‘s thesis focuses on wind turbines. The first part describes the basic attributes of wind energy and wind turbines and is accompanied by a many images. The next section is a statistical processing of measured meteorological data from measuring stations of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute. These data are then used for calculations of the blades of wind turbines. The calculations are carried by two different methods. The first method is called the blade element momentum theory, the second method is the theory of blade cascade. Using these methods are obtained by two different blades. The last section compares the two blades in terms of geometric and performance.
Design of wind turbine blade
Plhal, Matěj ; Linda, Jakub (referee) ; Škorpík, Jiří (advisor)
Master thesis describes the design of a wind turbine blade. In the theoretical part it focuses on a general research of wind energy and the design of wind power plant as a whole. In the practical part, the thesis focuses on the aerodynamic design of the blade, from determining the wind speed at the location to selecting the blade profile and its resulting characteristics. The following section provides a review of blade constructions, including the materials used and the blade's own structure. Furthermore, possible methods of blade manufacturing are described with a simplified manufacturing process of the proposed blade. The design also considers the transport of the blade from the manufacturing site to the installation site and therefore possible solutions are given, both in design and transport.
Home micro-wind power plant
Šmol, Vojtěch ; Máca, Josef (referee) ; Vyroubal, Petr (advisor)
The master´s thesis deals with the construction of micro wind power plants in domestic conditions. Firstly, theory about wind is discussed. In next part, the types of wind turbines and their parameters are listed. Furthermore, the design and production of a domestic micro wind turbine, the design of blades, hubs, brakes and speed sensors are addressed. Furthermore, the design and production of a synchronous generator with permanent magnets produced using 3D printing is carried out. Results from generator testing are shown. In the next part of the thesis, the issue of MPPT controllers is solved, the principle of operation, hardware and software and the results of testing are clarified. The last part deals with the testing of wind power plants in simulated conditions and in real operation.
Small wind turbines in urban enviroment
Ondráček, David ; Škorpík, Jiří (referee) ; Linda, Jakub (advisor)
This thesis is focused on the problematics of smaller wind turbines usage in the urban environment. The beginning of the thesis deals with the basic theory of wind, its origin, and specifics of air flow in the urban environment. Furthermore, a search of currently available wind turbines suitable for the urban built environment is performed, and regarding the specific air flow in this environment, possibilities are proposed to increase the efficiency of these turbines. The next part of the thesis analyses the experience from real world applications. At the end of the thesis, the energy gains generated by the selected turbine and photovoltaic panels in given locality are calculated, ending with a comparison of the suitability of these two sources of renewable energy.
Design of wind power plant
Starý, Ondřej ; Dlugoš, Jozef (referee) ; Řehák, Kamil (advisor)
Renewable energy sources are currently a much-discussed issue. One of the possibilities of their use is the production of electricity using wind power plants. This work therefore describes in detail construction of wind turbines. At the same time, there is a brief evaluation of wind power plants, from an energy and economic point of view. Part of the work is also the calculation of the optimization of the gearbox weight and a description of the design of the wind turbine coupling.
Wind power plant
Šponiarová, Petra ; Prokop, Aleš (referee) ; Řehák, Kamil (advisor)
The electricity production from renewable sources is a very current topic. It also includes the electricity made by wind power plants, which the bachelor’s thesis concentrates on. An extensive research study was conducted to provide an overview of wind turbine types. Concerning wind power plants, apart from their visual impact, noise and vibration connected to their operating is an often discussed issue. The construction of a wind turbine stands for the most important role in reducing such unwanted effects. Technical experiments following specific standards and recommendations are performed to assess the impact of wind turbines-emitted noise and vibration on humans. In order to assess noise and vibration of a wind turbine a technical experiment is proposed, which uses different approaches to determine the critical components. The selection of a suitable measuring equipment and the choice of location for its subsequent use are important parts of the design. At last, the use of wind power plants is critically reviewed.
Design of wind turbine regulator
Kowalczyk, Wiktor ; Vrána, Michal (referee) ; Morávek, Jan (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with charge control of a lead acid battery driven by 300 W wind turbine. The thesis is divided into four parts. First deals with the issue of lead battery charge controllers and the definition of a regulator for a wind turbine with permanent magnet synchronous generator, including a description of the regulated system elements. The second part deals with measurments done on the given system. Third part describes the design, algorithms and regulator programming and the last part describes construction and testing of a built-in controller.
Renewable Energy Sources as Inspiration for Physics Experiments
Kopřiva, Tomáš ; Kácovský, Petr (advisor) ; Žilavý, Peter (referee)
Title: Renewable Energy Sources as Inspiration for Physics Experiments Author: Bc. Tomáš Kopřiva Department: Department of Physics Education Supervisor: RNDr. Petr Kácovský, Ph.D. Abstrakt: This thesis deals with a current issue of renewable resources of energy. It focuses on the Sun, wind and hydrogen as energy resources. The first part of the thesis provides a theoretical explanation to these resources and is followed by a practical part with the aim to explain this issue to students by using experiments included in worksheets. The theoretical part is focused on the minimal knowledge that is needed for completing the worksheets. This part also describes suitability of these resources in the context of the Czech Republic. The second part of the thesis is exclusively experimental. It describes educational kits that can be used to demonstrate renewable resources of energy. It also includes instructions to create worksheets. The attachment, which is part of the thesis, contains a set of worksheets and a CD which, among others, contains other worksheets filled in by students. Key words: renewable resources, worksheet, experiment, solar cell, fuel cell, wind turbine, efficiency
Off-grid system and container housing
Filka, Tomáš ; Kracík, Petr (referee) ; Poláčik, Ján (advisor)
This thesis sums up current possibilities of using renewable energy sources and addi-tional technologies which can be suitable for off-grid systems. Specifically, it describes the possibility of their application to the increasingly common container structures. The first part of this work contains information about history and present trends in the area of renewable energy sources and container housing. The second part shows a concept of such house, completely disconnected from the public grid. The results of this study allow basic insight into the problem and illustrate the practical application of acquired knowledge.
Possibilities of Solar Chimney Power Plants
Moravčík, Martin ; Macháček, Jan (referee) ; Procházka, Zdeněk (advisor)
This thesis contains teoretical summary of present situation of problems involved in solar chimneys development. In the first chapter there are mathematical methods for describing the functions of solar chimneys in general. It establishes figures for power output, efficiency, speed of flow inside the chimney and figures for desinging solar chimney. In the next chaper there is a division of solar chimneys and it mainly focuses on describing the solar updraft towers and solar floating chimneys. And marginally it focuses on solar downdraft towers. Next there are possibilities how to use principle of solar chimney for air conditioning and ventilation. In the next chapter it describes the use of solar chimneys, with cogeneration, hydrogen production, in cooling towers and chimneys, and there is also fully described the project in Manzanares. In the fifth chapter it describes the economy of the two comparative projects of solar chimneys, which are at the end economically analyzed and assessed. The last chapter is a summary of the objectives of this thesis, and the subsequent approach is described too and at last there is also evaluation of solar chimneys and the conclusion of this thesis.
