The polyfunctional house neighbors with the important Art Nouveau building designed by an architect Josef Müller and modern residential house designed by an architect Dalibor Borak. The specified urban piece of land is located at the corner of a city block in the historical centre of Brno. In terms of urbanism it forms a significant border between the city centre and adjacent neighbourhoods. The locality draws on the rich history of the city. It lies in a connection between green belt of parks on Koliště and related green avenue of Kapitána Jaroše and Park Lužánky Despite the dense automobile traffic on Ringstrasse the newly designed complex takes the advantage of city greenery when creating a green meadow in the courtyard. The proposed project continues in the tradition of cultural buildings on Ringstrasse. By the arrangement of solids it creates a barrier from the street view but it opens into the inner courtyard. It divides into three separately functioning objects, a gallery, a working platform and an administration building. Entries to individual objects are led through the green courtyard, which becomes the center of action.

Multifunctional house in Brno
Liznová, Veronika ; Šubrt, Jan (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor) ; Matějka, Libor (advisor)
In my bachelor’s study I deal with a new building for Multifunctional House in Brno on the Milada Horakova’s street in Brno Zábrdovice. The design comes out from filling the gap on the Milada Horáková street, urbanist regulatives, and the needs of people living in this part of the city. The object’s form is designed to tie together with both the modern and the secession houses sitting alongside it. My effort went towards using the structural gap to its full potential. The facade of the object is formed by windows and sliding steel blinds which also protect it from the street noise. The object also contains public functions which were non-existing in the area until now: a café and office space. Parterre in the 1st LVL allows the passage to the building’s yard and then continues to the IBC building. The rest of the overground floors are used as housing space. The housing itself is made by flats which space category has been chosen based on the interest of city residents.
