Moreover he was a prolific author of textbooks (one of his famous is The Technological Natural History) and musical works - we can mention his Wreath of fine songs which includes the song Wayfarer that is known for today. In music he paid attention to carols and Christmas songs and plays as well (the most famous is The Young Shephers of Bethlehem). J. V. Soukup excelled in almost every field, not only in pedagogy and music but also in drawing (he even taught Mikoláš Aleš, the well-known Czech painter), chemistry, technology and cultivation of plants. Moreover he contributed to many pedagogical magazines. The beginnins of his teacher's career were not easy, he strained for an appropriate position and during that time he had hardly anything to eat. He gave private lessons for food and played in pubs with the band of musicians to earn some money. Blechová, Světlana ; Kubík, Viktor (advisor) ; Ottová, Michaela (referee)
Bachelor thesis called " Louny Gradual by Paul Melnik in 1530" first summarizes the existing literature on the topic, which occurs soon after the half of the 19th century (Chapter 1). The names of the purchaser and illuminator of the Louny Gradual are documented in the first part of the Gradual's explicit (IG 8, f. 427v). The explicit also includes the date and provenance of the Louny Gradual, which was completed in 1530 for Utraquist literary fraternity at St. Nicholas'Church in Louny (Chapter 2.4). The Louny Gradual belongs among the last written Latin Utraquist choral books. It contains one of the largest collections of Kyrie and Sequences. Paintings in both parts Gradual (IG 8a, b) are in the academic literature considered the decline in artistic standards. However, the nearly intact Louny Gradual characterizes the spectacular color components and efforts to adopt new ideas from the west, mainly represented by M. Schongauer's and Dürer's prints.

Čermáková, Eva ; Niubo, Marc (advisor) ; Kapsa, Václav (referee)
The diploma thesis contributes to study of the Italian and Czech origins of the sacred music by Neapolitan composers from the first third of the 18th century. The first chapters of the thesis concentrate on classification of manuscripts with music by the Neapolitan composer Domenico Sarri (1678-1744) whose many works have been preserved in Czech music archives. Though Sarri demonstrably was a significant representative of the Neapolitan music production of his time, his work has not yet been adequately explored. This thesis therefore also includes a complete reconstruction of Sarri's psalm Dixit Dominus F major. In the last part of the thesis, this piece is analyzed and compared within the selection of few works by Sarri and his contemporaries with the aim to specify some of the general and individual aspects of Sarri's musical thinking.
Online rozpoznávání ručně psaných matematických formulí
Stria, Jan ; Průša, Daniel (advisor) ; Mráz, František (referee)
In this thesis, we deal with online recognition of handwritten mathematical formulas. We provide an introduction to the field of study, discuss the current state of the art and survey several existing implementations in detail. Then we present our own solution comprehending two steps. In the first step, individual symbols are detected utilizing temporal and spatial relations of the handwritten strokes. Then we recognize the symbols by combining results provided by an existing third party library with our rule based methods and template symbols matching. In the second step, a structure of the formula is examined. We introduce a novel approach incorporating a grammar based description of the formula with a statistical evaluation of the subexpressions. We also discuss related problems comprehending implementation of the recognizer as a web application and acquisition of the sample data.
