Czech drama in the twenties of the 20th century

This thesis focuses on the issue of Czech drama in the twenties of the 20th century. Specifically, it focuses on the repertoire of the National Theatre. In the first chapters, the state of drama in this period is briefly analysed. In next chapters, dramas are selected that were written by the Czech writers others than the Čapek brothers and introduced in the twenties of the 20th century. Three thematic pairs of dramas were chosen from this limited selection for the purpose of further analysis and comparison. The core and most important elements are the analysis and comparison of pairs of dramas whereas every pair composes of one successful and one unsuccessful drama. All dramas were introduced at the National Theatre in the twenties and all of them were considered as an average when compared to the work of the Čapek brothers. Furthermore, the analysis and comparison of every pair is accompanied by the contemporary critics and reviews published in the newspapers. Based on the comparison of both successful and unsuccessful dramas that are thematically close, the thesis outlines the information on most probable reason why every individual drama was successful or unsuccessful with the audience, on what was popular among the audience, on the contemporary trends and on the common taste of average...

The meaning of counter-revolution in two waves of thought

Aim of this thesis is to understand the mening of word counterrevolution. It does so by analyzing and interpreting moder nand traditional thought, focusing namely on social dynamics and also analyzing authors, who belou to traditional wave of thought. They are authors who directly interpreted French revolution and then authors who continued thein work. Czech Architect during the Political Changes after 1989

In this thesis, the author wants to deal with the broad spectrum of the contemporary Czech architecture. However, the phrase "Czech architect" appears in the title to show that this thesis is not a critical analysis of the stylish development of Czech architecture, but rather a search for links and inspirations that define the modern architectural profession in Czech society. These links and connections are deeply rooted in architects' experiences before and after the political regime change. The author feels that the architects' understanding of today's society and political transformation will help clarify some uncertainties of their meaning and status. One can understand the modern architects and the course of the Czech chamber of architecture as well as the public sector with it's ever changing tendencies ever since 1989 if the broad spectrum of contemporary architecture is kept in perspective.

Trinidad and Tobago during the 20th century

This MA thesis analyzes socio-political development on the islands of Trinidad and Tobago throughout the twentieth century. The structure divides the thesis into three chapters. The first one shortly introduces historical development on Trinidad and Tobago before the year 1900. Such knowledge is elementary for understanding of the development in the twentieth century therefore I consider it necessary to devote a part of my thesis to this problem. Subsequent chapter describes first decades of the twentieth century when the leader canobserve gradual liberation of political constrains imposed by the United Kingdom Great Britain and Northern Ireland benefiting African and Indian inhabitants of Trinidad. This chapter is finished with the year 1958 when both islands entered West Indian Federation. The second chapter is finally fully aimed at both islands already freed from the British Empire and at the difficult period of culmination of disputes between African and Indian descendants. The escalation in 1970 resulted in the so called Black Power revolution. The end of this chapter represents the year 1981 when Eric Williams, a liberator of the islands, died. Finally, the third chapter follows a search for a new leader after the death of Eric Williams until the nineteen nineties when leading political positions...

The media image of the Velvet Revolution in terms of conspiracy theories

The topic of this diploma thesis is the media image of the Velvet Revolution related to various conspiracy theories. This view can be traced in Czechoslovak (and later Czech periodicals) on the basis of predetermined storylines. The specified period for the analysis of individual elements of these theories is from November 17, 1989 to about mid-1993, or earlier if the periodical ceased to be published. The period of the Velvet Revolution is a fundamental period of our republic, which at this time underwent an economic, political, social transformation… And few aspects of everyday life remained the same as before the revolution. Because this change took place so suddenly and so quickly, a lot of rumors, misinformation, and conspiracy theories began to spread to explain to some extent what had happened, especially if they did not like the officially recognized version of events. It is these alternative explanations of the events of that time that are the subject of this work. I will analyze them in a total of 7 titles, in Rudé právo, Lidové noviny, Studentské listy, Respekt, Květy, Špígl and Analýza 17 listopadu by Miroslav Dolejší. Views on Velvet Revolution 1989

This diploma thesis deals with the problematics of revolutions. Namely with various interpretations of Velvet revolution in Czechoslovakia. First part tries to outline historical development of theories of revolution. The Research of revolutions undergone several generations and shifts of interests. This work tries to map the evolution from the oldest modern authors to the current ones and describe their points of view and how they approach revolutions. In second part, there are presented various views on Velvet revolution in Czechoslovakia. First, they are presented schematically and put in context, then they are described in detail. These interpretations are based on various assumptions and see Velvet revolution from various angles. In Third part the various interpretations are juxtaposed and are described, respectively their view of three aspects of Velvet revolution - causes, process and outcomes of revolution. These various views are then commented by using authors of general theories of revolutions. The goal of this approach is to enable better understanding of Velvet revolution, by sharpening the contures of the whole proces and also show the possibilities of use of general theories of revolution. Celebrations of end World War II in broadcasting Czechoslovak and Czech television

The bachelor's thesis focuses on the quantitative content analysis of the media image of the national holiday of the end of II. World War in the period from 1980 to 2020 in the main news broadcast of Czechoslovak and Czech Television. The aim of this work is to describe the development of the media image, which changes during the changing political regimes and changes in the function of television, which at this time survives from the function of national medium to the medium of public service. The possibilities of the bachelor's thesis examine the changes in the media content of the national holiday in connection with its historical interpretation, which has changed several times within the news and Czechoslovak and Czech laws. In the theoretical parts of the bachelor's thesis focusing on public holidays in society, role of television as important medium during national and religioun holidays and historical conversation with the Czechoslovak and later the Czech national holiday at the end of II. World War, the name itself. They use all these aspects of the bachelor thesis so that they can be used for scientific questions. How the media image of the national holiday of the end of World War II changed in news programs provided the greatest space and how it was reported.
