Root system development under drought stress
Svobodová, Barbora ; Soukup, Aleš (advisor) ; Fendrych, Matyáš (referee)
Plants actively react to the environmental conditions in such a way that they can use their resources efficiently and be resistant to suboptimal living conditions (e.g., high salinity, drought stress, high radiation, extremely high or low temperatures, insufficient nutrients etc.). One of the responses to drought stress (DS) is change in root system architecture (RSA). Optimized shape of RSA during drought stress can be under some situations "Steep, cheap and deep" ideotype. Steep - the roots grow in an angle ideally perpendicular to the soil surface. Cheap - most of the resources are spent on growing deeper while having small diameter and lots of aerenchym tissue. Plants with this RSA modulation try to reach deeper parts of the soil with greater water reservoirs and to achieve this, they use a wide range of mechanisms. Another change in RSA in reaction to drought stress, which directs the root to areas with more water is called hydrotropism. The key signal pathway which activates a large variety of drought responsive genes is the abscisic acid (ABA) pathway. Plants also have epigenetic mechanisms, which by remembering a stress factor they have already encountered, are capable of faster and more intensive response.
Differences in the level of aspiration and stress resistence of women floorball players Tatran Střešovice
Zabavská, Barbora ; Janák, Vladimír (advisor) ; Běhanová, Michaela (referee)
Title: Differences in the level of aspiration and stress resistance in female floorball players of Tatran Střešovice Objectives: The main aim of this research is to contribute to the search for a relation between the level of aspirations and performance in athletes. Furthermore, whether there is a difference in stress resistance in female floorball players of different ages. The general aim is to contribute to the current knowledge base in this area with new partial results based on the implementation of my own research investigation. Methods: The TATSO test was used for this research. The author of this version of the test is Janák, who modified the original test by Hošek from 1979 into its current form. The test measures the level of aspiration, resistance to stress and psychomotor tempo. The test is suitable for group investigations, but personal presence is required (it cannot be distributed electronically). It is a pencil-and-paper type of performance test. Results: I found that the older group of female floorball players had higher aspirations compared to the younger group, so the first hypothesis was confirmed. The second hypothesis, which states that the older group of female floorball players have higher load resistance, was not confirmed, as my research showed that both groups have the...
The role of ETV6-RUNX1 fusion protein in the sensitivity of leukemic cells to L-asparaginase
Staněk, Petr ; Starková, Júlia (advisor) ; Burjanivová, Tatiana (referee)
Translocation t(12;21) with the presence of the fusion gene ETV6-RUNX1 (TEL-AML1) is the most common chromosomal aberration found in acute lymphoblastic leukemia in childhood. The occurrence of the ETV6-RUNX1 is associated with excellent prognosis and high sensitivity to the treatment with the enzyme L-asparaginase (ASNase). Resistance to the drug aggravates the outlook of the patient and increases the risk of treatment failure, therefore, the CLIP working group has been for a long time involved in the identification of the mechanism of action of ASNase and the origin of the resistance to it. This thesis follows previous findings of the group and is devoted to the analysis of the importance of ETV6-RUNX1 and signalization and metabolic changes accompanying shifts in the L-asparaginase resistance. In the first part of the thesis, the knockout clones with stable increased resistance to ASNase have been established thanks to the CRISPR/Cas9 system, which created frameshift in the fusion gene. The accomplishment in this regard and removal of the fusion protein was confirmed on the level of DNA, mRNA a protein expression. The presence of other significant chromosomal aberrations affection the sensitivity to ASNase was ruled out by the means of SNP analysis. In the second part of the project, the signalization...
Large crabgrass (\kur{Digitaria sanquinalis}) a weed or a crop?
PAUROVÁ, Natálie
The aim of this bachelor thesis was to collect all available information about the occurrence, spread, nutritional value and use of species from the genus Digitaria with the emphasis on the Digitaria sanguinalis in the form of a literature review. Large crabgrass is currently considered a weed plant for its spread in tropical, subtropical and temperate areas. The importance of its regulation in crop stands increases year after year. Its use as a cereal fell into forgetfulness. Other Digitaria species, especially Digitaria iburua and Digitaria exilis, grown in Africa are currently considered a "super food" due to the high level of sulphur amino acids (methionine a cysteine) in the grain.
The resistance of Pavel Glos during the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia
Kučera, Jan ; Županič, Jan (advisor) ; Zicha, Zbyněk (referee)
Main goal of this work is to describe the resistance activities of Pavel Glos during era of Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia from the available sources. To put this activities to the context of all anti-Nazi resistance and to evaluate their benefits. Also map its transformations that were determined by the current situation, needs and objectives of the resistance movement. This aspect is much more important for Pavel Glose, who took part in resistance activity for the whole period of the Nazi occupation. The intention of this work is also to remind the personality of Pavel Glos, who acted as the parson of the Unitas Fratrum in Turnov. Although he is virtually unknown today, he was one of the prominent figures of the Czech anti-Nazi resistance. Among his close collaborators were Vladimír Krajina, Jaroslav Valenta and Rudolf Mareš. He also participated in the collaboration with the paratroop groups Antimony and Barium, which were sent to the Protectorate by the London Exile Government. The archive documents from the National Archives, Archives of Security Forces, the Military Central Archive and the Archive of the Unitas Fratrum, as well as historical and memoir literature were used during the processing of the work.

Urinary tract infections by community and nosocomial strains
RAFAJOVÁ, Michaela
This thesis deals with Urinary tract infections. It includes information about pathogenes, methods of their identification and treatment. The goal of this thesis is observing of pathogen species representation that cause infecion in community and in hospital (includes hospital infections) and observing resistence to five most common antibiotics for Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Proteus mirabilis.
