The Use of Artificial Intelligence by High School Students When Writing a Paper
Brabenec, Daniel ; Andreska, Jan (advisor) ; Hanel, Lubomír (referee)
This master's thesis concerns using artificial intelligence by six-year grammar school students when composing short essays on assigned biological topics. The issue is very current and discussed by the general public as a forthcoming change for education and, consequently, for society altogether. Therefore, the thesis aims to describe how grammar school pupils work with artificial intelligence, how often and for what purposes they use it, what trials and errors may simultaneously arise, and to analogise the constructed papers from various viewpoints. In accordance with the thesis's objective, a total of six research questions are formulated, which are answered in the thesis. Based on the answers to the research questions, two out of three established hypotheses are disproved. Mixed research combining quantitative and qualitative approaches is conducted to answer the research questions and test the suppositions. During lectures, students are assigned to create an essay on one of three biological topics (cell structure, plant reproduction, and amphibians in the Czech Republic) using internet resources and artificial intelligence. These writings are analysed using the open coding method based on grounded theory. The second segment is a questionnaire focusing on students' use of artificial...
Geographic skills of elementary and secondary school students
Holeček, František ; Matějček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Hanus, Martin (referee)
The ame of this thesis is a partial analysis of survey, which preceded the elaboration of thesis and was prepared by a wider team. Secondary school students and older elementary school students took a test focused on problem solving skills and information literacy abilities in geography. Specifically: searching for data in a table, comparing tables with graphs, working with maps (searching for data and information, comparing with other resources), asking questions (searching for the causes of the current state of some phenomena), analysing data from different types of resources (tables, graphs, maps), transcribing data from table to the graph, and independent thinking on the basis of the information given. Apart from the test, they also filled out a survey on their opinions about the test questions and the frequency of practicing these skills in the classroom. Their teachers filled out the analogical survey. This thesis is analysing the part of survey results and it's specifically focused on the relation between the teachers' and the students' views on the test results and the tested skills and abilities.

Sociology of health. Health and media in the social context
Novotný, Tomáš ; Mudd, Dana (advisor) ; Hamplová, Dana (referee)
ABSTRACT /ENG/ Sociology of Health Health and media in the social context Until the middle of the twentieth century, modern scientific medicine had an excellent reputation as a universally effective institution. In recent decades, however, this idea has been called into question, because the public has realised that the idealised image of medicine promised more than it could fulfil. The image of medicine over the past 50 years has changed significantly and today it is closely associated with other areas, including the environment, politics and the economy. The thesis is therefore devoted to current issues of health systems, health information and mass media as a mediator of health information. One reason why we will criticise modern medicine is that the Czech Republic can not cover all the costs associated with caring for patients; others will include lobbies in the health sector, and the general difficulty of comparing the country's quality of health care and research to other countries. For the public, the media, playing a major role in the process of the "secularisation" of medicine, has become the main source of information on health and health care. But the media also has another function: to direct our attention to health issues and...
