Incidence of pes planovalgus in young school-aged children with anamnesis of developmental dysplasia of the hip
Buzková, Tereza ; Nováková, Pavlína (advisor) ; Zahradník, Petr (referee)
This diploma thesis researches the relationship between developmental dysplasia of the hips in the anamnesis and the occurrence of pes planovalgus in young school-aged children. The first two chapters of the theoretical part of the thesis provide a summary of information about developmental dysplasia of the hip joints and pes planovalgus, which are essential for comprehending the entire issue. The subsequent chapter extensively examines the connection between these conditions, bringing together and expanding knowledge about the factors that support the potential relationship between developmental hip dysplasia and pes planovalgus. Specifically, it highlights the significance of increased femoral neck anteversion and generalized joint hypermobility. The potential impact of gender is also discussed. The theoretical part concludes with a discussion of physiotherapeutic methods used in treating developmental dysplasia of the hip joints and pes planovalgus. The practical part of the thesis is based on data collected using a specially designed non- standardized protocol comprising various standardized tests. The results were subjected to statistical analysis. The study included a total of 40 children of younger school age, ranging from 6 to 12 years. Half of the participants had an anamnesis of...

Posturographic training in flatbed therapy for younger school children
ČERNÁ, Adéla
The arch of the foot began to develop parallel to the transition towards an erect posture of the body to bear the weight and to absorb shocks while the foot is in contact with the ground. The human foot consists of two arches - longitudinal and transverse arch. Both start to develop as the child starts to walk. The development is finished around the pre-school age. From literature it is known that up to 80 % of inhabitants suffer from incorrect foot hold/position. One of the most common deformations of the foot appears to be flat feet. Flat feet are usually formed already in childhood. With the common causes being premature toddler footwear, fashion shoes, fast growth, and excessive physical activity etc. Posturographic techniques are methods used for measurement and treatment of qualitative and quantitate postural balance. There exist two types of posturography - static and dynamic. The theoretical part of the thesis covers the specification of foot anatomy and function, the arch of the foot, the definition of Flat feet and a brief description of therapy. It is followed by description of the posturographic function and posturographic tool, which was used during the practical part of this thesis for the therapy itself. The practical part of the thesis was processed as qualitative research where an initial examination of aspects, an interview and both a posturographic and podoscope assessment all concluded in the form of case reports, took place. Three boys, who attended the first grade of an elementary school were included in this study. They attended the posturograph therapy once a week and they went through a given set of exercises at home. First goal of this study was to observe if the posturography training included in the therapy of flat feet has an impact on the results within the children around the age of primary elementary school. The second goal was to evaluate the effect of posturography exercises on the therapy of flat feet among children. Although this thesis has not brought clear results, a slight improvement of the childrens posture could be observed. The explanation of the unclear results could be due to the small size of the test group or due to short and inefficiently intense therapy. Nonetheless some of the children were looking forward to attending the appointments and that in my opinion adds to the benefits of the overall results.
Influencing of static deformities of foot with using the method Propriofoot Concept
ŠOTOLOVÁ, Mirka
This bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of influencing of static deformities of foot by exercising on balance plates Propriofoot Concept. Target of this thesis was to summarize theoretical knowledge about static deformities of foot and the balance plates Propriofoot Concept and suggest an individual exercising unit on these balance plates to every patient. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part summarizes knowledge about anatomy of foot and its functional division, further focuses on the individual static deformities of front part of foot, sensomotorics and the Propriofoot Concept method. The practical part is processed by a form of qualitative research. There are cases reports of four patients aged from 20 to 50 years who participated in this research and have some of the static deformities - the most often hallux valgus, metatarsalgia and hammer toes. The research has lasted for four months. Each case report contains an input and output kinesiological analysis, their summary, as well as a description of the course and evaluation of a short-term rehabilitation plan. The research part of the thesis shows that the exercise on plates using the Propriofoot Concept is also suitable and effective in the therapy of people who suffer from any of the static deformities of the foot. This bachelor thesis can be used as an educational material in the clinical practice of a physiotherapist, the work is also suitable as inspiration for the general public.
Wearing barefoot shoes from the perspective of physiotherapy and orthopedics
RUDOLFOVÁ, Marcela
My bachelor thesis deals with the wearing barefoot footwear from the point of view of physiotherapy and orthopaedics and its influence on the musculoskeletal system. In the theoretical part of the bachelor thesis I describe the kinesiology of a foot and its deformities, the foot arch, proprioception and the possibilities of foot examination. I also deal with the issue of footwear wearing. The practical part of the thesis consists of a qualitative research, which was carried out on the basis of a detailed survey with about twenty tests. The sample set consisted of twenty-eight probands in two groups - a group of barefoot users and a reference group of people using different kinds of footwear than barefoot. The group of barefoot users consisted of nine women and five men. The reference group consisted of eight men and six women. The goal of the thesis was to map a possible change of the musculoskeletal system after the switching to wearing barefoot footwear, how wearing barefoot footwear can affect the musculoskeletal system and what the pros and cons of wearing barefoot footwear are. According to my research the benefits of wearing barefoot footwear are based on the satisfaction among the probands, on the better work of toes in the walking stereotype as well as in standing, and also on better axis position of toes. The cons, i.e. the negatives of wearing barefoot footwear are their price and walking on hard surfaces. The most significant changes of the musculoskeletal system that I mapped were those in the walking stereotype, namely in the thrust phase of a step, in the position of toes and changes in the tests of balance and body posture. The thesis can serve as educational material for those who consider purchasing barefoot footwear or want to switch to barefoot walking, but also for those who have already been wearing barefoot footwear, those who are interested in it or for physiotherapy students.

The effect of kinesiotaping for flat foot correction in association with selected parameters of gait for a specific group of people
Michalcová, Eliška ; Zahálka, František (advisor) ; Heller, Jan (referee)
Title: The effect of kinesiotaping for flat foot correction in association with selected parameters of gait for a specific group of people Objectives: The primary objective of this experiment was to determine whether and to what extent the application of kinesio tape to flat foot (utilising a functional correction technique) can influence the positioning of the specific segments of the body and thereby implement change to walking stereotype. Methods: Biomechanical measurement of the gait of eleven specifically selected people with the clinical symptoms of flat foot was implemented. First we recorded measurements prior to the intervention and then again, subsequent to the application of kinesio tape for a defined period. Probands retained the tape in place for the following four days and then the measuring was repeated both prior and subsequent to the removal of the tape. To determine any potential changes to the statics, initially the measuring of the postural stability prior to the intervention was first implemented in the experiment and subsequently again when the kinesio tape was removed after it had been worn for four days. This measurement was carried out using the Footscan apparatus (RSscan International, Belgium) and any potential differences in six variant modes of posture were determined....
