Functions of Passive Voice Structures in Various Genres of ESP compared with Czech Language Use.
Zemánek, Dominik ; Ellederová, Eva (referee) ; Baumgartnerová, Alena (advisor)
Tato práce popisuje pasivní konstrukce a jejich tvoření, význam, použití a funkce na základě rešerše související literatury. Trpný rod a s ním související změna slovosledu dávají autorům více možností uspořádání textu a zároveň umožňují zdůraznit, či naopak vynechat některá slova.
On the Morphosyntactic and Lexicosemantic Features of the gelten + zu-infinitive Construction in Contemporary Written German
HOLLÁ, Barbora
There are many possibilities in the German language how to direct one's statement either on the originator of the happenings or on the happenings themselves. In this Bachelor thesis one of such possibilities will be examined, that puts the originator of the happenings in the background and puts the focus on the happenings, namely the infinitive construction gelten + zu-Infinitiv, which serves as a paraphrase for the passive voice. For that will be used the Deutsches Referenzkorpus, based on which a detailed analysis of selected 300 examples will be conducted.
Reflexive verbs versus reflexive passive voice
VAŇKOVÁ, Michaela
This thesis is going to focus on the topic of reflexive verbs and reflexive passive voice, and it is going to clearly and comprehensively show that not all the reflexive forms are to be considered passive: reflexive verb forms are homonymous, therefore they can express both the active and passive voice. The thesis' aim is to describe the development of the view of this matter in Czech linguistics from the 1960's (Stručná mluvnice česká: Havránek-Jedlička) up until to the current grammar books.

Passive forms in Italian and Czech from the perspective of functional styles
Čechová, Petra ; Obstová, Zora (advisor) ; Štichauer, Pavel (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to theoretically describe periphrastic and reflexive passive in both Italian and Czech language, to establish approximate frequency of Italian periphrastic passive in different functional styles with the help of parallel corpus InterCorp (version 8) and to analyse the means of its translation into Czech. The initial theoretical part deals with a brief description of grammatical categories of verbs, then it focuses on grammatical voice and diathesis and it discuss further the differences in the notion of these terms. Subsequent chapters deal with formal aspects of the passive in both Italian and Czech, with its function and with the restrictions of its use. The last chapter describes the use of the passive in functional styles. The following practical part describes in brief InterCorp and subsequently deals with the problem of analysing the approximate frequency of periphrastic passive in the belles-lettres, newspapers and official type of texts. Finally, it analyses 200 instances of the periphrastic passive in each of the previously mentioned functional styles and it focuses on the means of its translation into Czech.
Toby's Room by Pat Barker - the translation and stylistic analysis of three chapters of the novel
Matyášová, Jana ; Ženíšek, Jakub (advisor) ; Červinková Poesová, Kristýna (referee)
The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to point out the most frequent problems the translators tackle during the translation from the English to the Czech language. This work is divided into two parts. The first one involves my translation of the first three chapters of the novel Toby's Room written by the English author Pat Barker. The second section, the theoretical one, is devoted to the analysis of the translation and particularly to the most common translation difficulties springing from morphological, syntactic and stylistic differences between the two languages mentioned above. The analysis of this part is based on the quotes from the theoretical literature, especially from works by J. Levý, Z. Kuffnerová and D. Knittlová, and shows to what extent the first part of the work follows the translation methods recommended by these authors.

Frequency analysis of means of expression of Passive in Spanish
KANTOROVÁ, Anna
My bachelor thesis named Frequency analysis of means of expression of Passive in Spanish is divided into two parts; theoretical and practical. In the first section of the theoretical part, I examine how the problematic of Spanish passive is seen and explained by Czech linguists. In the second section I describe the attitude of Spanish linguists towards the passive voice. I focused in detail mainly on the chosen periphrastic verbal structures whereby it is possible to express passive in Spanish. The practical part is concentrated to the corpus analysis of the chosen periphrastic verbal structures their frequency of use in specific fields and methods used by Czech linguists for their translation into the Czech language. The aim of my piece of writing was to present and explain periphrastic verbal structures, whereby we can express passive voice in the Spanish language, as a method which is new or unusual for the most of us and thanks to which we can elevate our speech in Spanish even more.
