The experience of sexuality in adults with intellectual disability from personal assistants perspective

The presented work discusses the experience of personal assistants in relation to sexuality in adults with intellectual disability. The aim is to outline the area of sexuality in adults with intellectual disability and working with this focus group from personal assistants' perspective and the training of workers in the field of sexuality. Theoretical part of this bachelor thesis pays attention to intellectual disability, social service of personal assistance and clarifies matters connected with sexuality in adults with intellectual disability. The practical part includes interviews with four personal assistants in order to find out what experience they have with the topic of sexuality in adults with intellectual disability, how this experience reflects or reflected itself in their practise and how they evaluate preparedness for this area. The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to point out the importance of sexuality in adults with intellectual disability and the substantiality of breaking the taboo of this topic because I believe that learning and speaking about this area leads to solving situations, which occur in connection to sexuality, in a less stressful and more confident manner and to a better output at work.
Design and verification of an interventional movement program aimed at developing the flexibility of the back of personal assistants caring for people with a combined disability

Bachelor thesis is focused on proposal and intervention of moving programme focused on back flexibility progress for assistants, who care about people with combined handicap in Arpida center. Aim of bachelor thesis was forming of intervention moving programme, which was focused on improvement of back flexibility. There were chosen personal assistants for research, who were 28 to 55 years old. Personal assistants have a manually strenuous labour and some of them use adaptive technology for prevention muscle injury or muscle shortening. In view of the fact there was input measurement according to locomotor system tests of flexibility. Intervention moving programme was used during 3 months, once a week. In the course of intervention moving programme was done a interim measurement. After finish of intervention moving programme was done a final measurement. The results of measurement were compared to controlled group. There was done input measurement to all respondents in experimental group, where was measured average value during moving test of deep forward bend in stand position 6,6 cm and during test of deep bend forward in seated position 4,5 cm. In final measurement was achieved average value for moving test of deep forward bend in stand position 11,4 cm and during test of deep bend forward in seated position 9,1 cm in experimental group. Personal assistants improved flexibility after finishing of intervention programme.
Contribution of personals assistants for persons with poliohyetitis

The content of this bachelor thesis is determining of actual need of assistance for people with Cerebral Palsy and finding an answer this question: "Which is the acquisition of personal assistant for people with Cerebral Palsy?". The methodic accession contains these particular methods: theoretical study of professional literature, questionnaire research among clients and personal assistants, observation and interview. The result of practical research is detection that the personal assistants are beneficial especially in the sphere of independent living, beneficial for families, like a respite service, and like a friend for people with Cerebral Palsy.

Bakalářská práce se zabývá integrací žáků se speciálními potřebami a přizpůsobením školní výuky. Zdůrazňuji profesi asistenta pedagoga, která by bez integrace těchto žáků do běžných škol nikdy nevznikla a profesi osobního asistenta, kteří také působí na základní škole, ale nejsou však pedagogickým personálem. Práce poukazuje na klady a zápory, které přináší profese pomáhajícího. Jaké nebezpečí mohou zaměstnance postihnout, jaké jsou práva a povinnosti asistenta pedagoga a zároveň jasně vyjadřuje rozdíly mezi osobním asistentem a asistentem pedagoga. Do jakého rezortu patří, jak jsou finančně ohodnoceny, jaká kvalifikace musí být pro danou profesi. K danému tématu není dostatek literatury a studií. Práce proto vychází z různých zdrojů a názorů pracovníků. The role of personal assistant in education pupils with specific educational needs

The bachelor´s thesis deals with the role of a personal assistant in the education of pupils with specific educational needs in schools set under §16 par. 9 Act No. 561/2004. The main aim of this work was to analyse and describe the role of a personal assistant. The result was a starting point for two following questions. I found out how a personal assistant supports a pupil in studying and how the work of a personal assistant is rated by a personal assistant, a head of service, and a representative of school establishment. The results were achieved by studying scientific literature and qualitative research. The theoretical part of the bachelor´s thesis is focused on clarifying the concepts of a personal assistant, a teaching assistant, special educating, disability and explaining the concept of a person with special educational needs. The practical part provides information about specific organizations, in which I have done the research. The ARPIDA Centre, the Kaňka Centre, and Diakonie Rolnička. The research was conducted using qualitative strategy, and semi-structured interview method. The bachelor´s thesis can be a source of information, freely available in the academic library of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. For example, for students in specialized fields, and also for general public. The bachelor´s thesis provides insight into the role of a personal assistant in the education of pupils with special educational needs. The result of the research shows that a personal assistant is an important and necessary element in the educational process of pupils with severe health or combined disabilities.
Problem of boundaries in helping professions

This thesis is based on analytical methods stemming from established theory and uses them to examine the issue of boundaries in helping professions. The purpose of the thesis is to understand the specific aspects of a relationship between a physically disabled client and their assistant, as well as the subjective perception of the boundary in a helping relationship. The research data had been collected through seven interviews with personal assistants. An analysis of this data has brought results in the form of a description of a personal assistant's profession and a summary of factors that play a significant role in establishing the relationship. Out of all the discovered topics, the relationship plays the most fundamental role and it has shown to consist of several levels - proffesional, friendly, parental or sibling and sexual. Boundaries become established within these levels in various forms and degrees depending on personal, relationship or situational factors. This issue represents a complex and multilayered topic with a vast array of paradoxes and dilemmas.
